As a kid in the 80s & in Australia, I had no knowledge of African American culture, but I had my hair put in little braids or what we call plats. Weirdly enough, we can come up with this stuff ourselves too.

I believe Scandinavian culture actually did braids and dreads before black culture did, which is funny as this man has an accent that sounds Scandinavian to me. Surprisingly he didn’t touch on that. Vikings were the oldest culture of record with corn row type braids and dread locks. Kind of funny if you think about it.
