When i was 16 my friend in home room used to put braids in my hair while we talked. They werenât pretty. But it was a great bonding experience for us. â€â€â€ I donât remember her name now just the warm fuzzies we gave each other. Iâm white. Sheâs black. I had 0 concept of being white and ânot allowedâ to do or say certain things until CZcams and facebook and IG etc really became popular. And now i see videos of some black women and men (usually American) of being angry at white people for doing things like wearing braids or wearing bonnets. Listening to âblack musicâ I feel like thereâs a lot of black folks out there that are trying to segregate people again. I feel so confused and frustrated. And sad all at the same time.
I work in a nursing home. My oldest resident is 104. She is white and French as can be. She wears a bonnet. She had straight but dry frizzy hair. So she had always worn one and still does to this day.
Sad. When I was 14 I cornrowed my hair and the black girls in my school verbally attacked me and told me never to come to school with braids agian cuz I'm not black. Iv never worn them since. Although I still braid other ppl hair till this day.
Many other ethnicities use braids... Everyone should be able to wear their hair how they want and not be bullied for it. I felt so bad for that girl... She was embarrassed and they just laughed louder... why are kids so mean. . đ
Were they African braids or different types of braids? What is your race and ethnicity? Are you a hairstylist or like doing people hair as a hobby? What are your favorite braids to wear or do on people?
@@darriasutton5588 I did go to school for cosmetology. I learned about braids by a fellow class mate. She just last year won an Emmy for her brilliance on the show Abbott Elementary. So yeah. I kinda know hair.
Bonnets help with dryness and frizziness? I did not know that. Hmm. I have blonde hair, very fine, dry and frizzy af. Looks like a rats nest mere minutes after brushing. I used to get bullied by my parents about it growing up. I would constantly hear "Have you *brushed* your hair?" As if I was somehow negligent. My mother tried it with me a couple of weeks ago and I just looked at her, you know - the look - told her I was 47 and have actually been brushing my own hair without her input for a very long time now. That shut her up.
Iâm white and I just bought myself and my two white daughterâs bonnets from your shop! Iâm so sick of the racism over this stuff. Thank you for normalizing ALL races wearing bonnets. Itâs so good for ALL hair types. Iâm so excited to get our bonnets. My hair and my daughterâs hair have huge tangles everyday when we wake up and Iâm so excited to try your bonnets!!! Skin color doesnât matter. Love people of all colors. Thatâs what makes our world beautiful.
I've seen your videos for a while and finally placed an order. I struggle with breakage, hairloss, frizz, and a messed up curl pattern. Thanks for making me feel like I'm allowed to try this. I'm excited.
Bonnets are not a race thing sorry. White women used to wear them all the time so they didnât have to âsetâ their hair every day. I wish we could focus on real cultural appropriation
Ridiculous đ them ainât real friends..

She came in first at our senior final hair show for menâs hair design. I came in second đ€·đŒââïž

My short straight hair breaks. I want a bonnet. My grandma always wore a bonnet to bed. Why is it funny? I don't understand.
