I had a milk allergy as a baby and instead of “wasting” money on the plant based formula that the doctor recommended my parents decided to starve me instead. I was fed only one meal of thawed out (not even microwaved) chicken nuggets a day until I was 4 years old when I moved in with my grandparents. I was severely underdeveloped for my age and malnourished. All the while my parents were obese and ate whatever they wanted. Now, even as an adult I struggle with disordered eating because it was ingrained in me as a child that I wasn’t worth the effort or money that came with food.

Reminds me of my own mother. My mom hated cooking period. She bought nothing but convience food, just so she wouldn't have to get up and cook. She would rather rot on the recliner and watched tv than get up and feed her own kids. Kicker is that she never worked in her life and always been on benefits. So it wasnt like she didnt have the time, money, or even energy to not cook 3 meals a day. She just didnt want to. Half of the time, she wouldnt even do chores. I remember how much mold would be under the bath mat due to neglect from cleaning, and i had to bathe in there. 🤢
Having a mom that doesn't care is just the worst. A parent who doesnt care will do far less than the bare minimum. Any legal guardian that just throws a plate of doughnuts at their kid, is not fit to be a parent whatsoever.
My mom would get almost $800 in food stamps and yet she would tell me that healthy food was "too expensive". Only to discover 20 years later, she was just using that as an excuse not to cook. Ironcially we never ate rice and beans or went to food banks like poorer families did. In fact my mom had TWO freezers full of ultra processed junk and thats not including the cubards. Considering how expensive processed crap is, that was INSANE.
My 10 year old ass would be chugging a 2L of mountain dew and eating a family sized bag of Doritos without any intervention. My mom did NOT care at all. When i started packing on the LBS, i didnt hear the end of it. She hated that j was fat and unhealthy, but yet she wouldn't do a damn thing about it besides shaming me.
She couldn't put her 2 brain cells together to come up with an idea on how to get me to eat healthier. She acted like me becoming obese wasnt her problem nor her fault.
To this very day, i struggle with an eating disorder because, my mother decided to be emotionally unavailable and, not do her job as a parent. I deal with so much shit now that im in my late twenties.

    • @MmmmJuicy
      @MmmmJuicy Před 3 měsíci

This is literally a form of child abuse. The problem is, it's hard to force parents to do what is right and they could use all sorts of excuses that keep them out of trouble. The fact is though that there is no excuse. You can't use poverty as an excuse because food banks exist and so does "food stamps". Both can be sources of healthy and nutritious meals. You can't use mental health as an excuse as there are plenty of medications out there to help and counseling too. Plus, your personal issues should not bring harm upon someone else (the kid). It's actually healthier for the kid to eat too little than it is to get them to eat too much junk. Neither is great, but overfeeding is by far worse on long-term health.

He didn’t think it through, love him so so dearly and am so grateful for him, but I ended up being EXTREMELY unfocused in class (due to the sugar). One night my sister and I heard our mom yelling at our dad behind the closed door to their room, so we eavesdropped listening to her tell him that the teacher called her to say that they need to stop giving me large sodas before school and that it was putting me at a huge disadvantage. This is not an attack against anyone specifically, but the dumb people far outnumber the at least not that dumb people. It's a matter of numbers. Dumb people are more likely to screw up and get pregnant. Dumb people are more likely to repeat their mistakes. Dumb people are more likely to "wing it" and shift blame at every opportunity instead of trying to do things right. The people ready to have children and are prepared to have children tend to be smarter and this can actually hurt their chances at getting pregnant. The older you get, the harder it is to get pregnant and have a healthy baby. Smart people don't tend to "accidentally" get pregnant at an early age.

Exactly, there's nothing wrong if SOMETIMES you kid eats a little bit of junk. SOME TIMES. Not every meal. Kids under like 7 years old should be consuming virtually zero sugar. Nothing is ever truly zero sugar, but you need to keep their intake to as close to zero as possible.
There's nothing wrong with giving your kid a donut every other week. Or mcdonalds once a month. It's called moderation.

I think the “at least she’s feeding them” comes from so many accounts where children have literally been starved to death. Neither is acceptable, but I don’t think telling her over and over she’s abusing her kids is going to help either. I think the people adding helpful comments like, “cut up bananas and strawberries it takes the same effort” are the ones that will be the ones that will get her to move in the right direction.
Telling people they are terrible doesn’t really help. Pushing people in the right direction with constructive criticism does. You can see at least she made one step forward with what appears to be grapes and did cut them up properly for her small child. She looks like a very unhappy person herself, maybe she needs some serious encouragement to move in the right direction for not only her children but for herself as well. Positive reinforcement and encouragement always works far more effectively than negative feedback or punishments when trying to change. No one commenting actually knows this woman or what her actual situation is, she obviously has reason she is willing to post these things online and willing to subject herself to this criticism. This isn’t in anyway a defense of her actions, because she does need to work to do better for her entire family including herself.

This is a disgusting and ignorant attitude to have. The parent here obviously has a bad relationship with food, and they need support in order to help their kids grow up with a healthy relationship with food. They need to be less apathetic to the effort people have been making to encourage her and give her knowledge to do better. This is true.
However, there is nothing happening in these videos that is worth taking a child out of a loving (even if imperfect) home and dumping them in a bs system. It's honestly astounding how ignorant and hateful you people can be.
The system is overrun and underfunded, it is not a joyride, it's not a new perfect home, and it's not free of issues or problematic people (Guess what? Those people may also have a bad relationship with food and/or feed the children less than ideally! Shocking). It is very often an abusive environment, real abuse, not due to something as simple and workable as a parents terrible relationship with food.

Taking out of the family is extreme yeah, But your comment is extreme too. Not feeding a child the proper nutritions their body needs for developement is reportable. They need protein for their brain in that life stage. If they do not get enough of it leads to developement issues. Most countries have child developement professionals who check on your child in the first 3 years. And diet is one of the things they check. Not having the proper nutritions can cause autoimmine diseasea, diebetes, movement issues, hormonal issues, the list is endless. Not having enough protein can lead to learning difficulties, It is clear she was probably raised on a diet like that, but it is also clear she is lazy and negligent. There is no way a person in 2023 doesn't know a child needs vitamins, and protein. All that she eats is carbs and refined sugars. Teachers can tell which child was fed with proper nutritions and which were not. They can even tell who ate trash food for breakfast and who didnt. Giving a child unhealthy food every once in a wgile is okay but what she is doing is straight damage to her health. You defending the woman and straight up ignoring a baby is truly upsetting. Just cuz she has an unhealthy relationship with food doesnt justify her ruining her child's health. @@twitchy_bird

To play with him longer, go on farther walks, etc. to show him how to eat properly! I was 280lbs and that extra weight makes you TIRED, in PAIN, & everything is a lot more effort. Exactly.
Even when my husband and I struggled with money (we made “too much” for assistance, but not enough for comfort with living paycheck to paycheck for basic necessities, bills, gas, and food), and there were times where the nuggets and fries for lunch along with a leftover soup I had made for dinner the day prior were about all we had to offer … but I still went out of my way to try. We decided to start meal prepping - really extended a buck and helped tremendously.
I then started saving seeds from fruits and veggies we had bought at the store and began growing them in the ground out back in our yard after tilling up the dirt (by hand with a hoe and mattock as I had no idea what I was doing lol).
Ended up with a decent mix for my first time: some tomatoes (big and cherry ones), bell peppers, cucumbers, little bit of corn stalks growing, green beans, some potatoes, sunflowers (for the seeds … we had SOOOOO many), tried my hand at strawberries, watermelon, and found out we had a slew of blackberry bushes along the mountain on our property that u netted off to protect from wild animals.
Once it came time to harvest, that was our snacks. We had so much that I could even freeze some for later down the road. I had to learn a lot from trial and error, and yea some had to be thrown out, but what we were able to get was enough to help us through rough patches.
I’d save those seeds from that batch and extend more areas in my yard to grow for next season … and all it cost me was a few bucks and an hour or two a week planting and tending to things.
That’s why I refuse to give in to people that claim eating healthy is too expensive/impossible. It’s really not. You don’t even need a big yard to do it - can even grow a mini garden on the balcony of an apartment complex if one put in the effort and tried. Plus, it’s so much healthier and the feeling of taking a bite of and cooking with something you personally grew is pretty cool. It’s also been a great way to help me get over my depressive spells by spending time in a garden and clearing my head.
I highly recommend it as it is basically free continuous food at that point.

I get a lot of questions about why I don’t want kids, comments that maybe I’ll change my mind, comments like “oh everyone thinks that at some point, just give it time.” And no It’s not just cult members who say this stuff.

I was about to say… bro it’s pretty evident there’s A LOT more to this story… lookin at her eyes she’s completely checked OUT.
I mean even her trying to get the bag of the donuts open, it was like she was fighting to stay in her body.
Even her trying to form words… the constant pausing/ buffering. That’s a sure fire sign of lack of dopamine production.. HUGE sign/symptom of hardcore depression.
Also someone mentioned she’s not the only adult in the picture??
So… their are other adults around… who literally just, don’t care.
It’s not like she’s withholding food from them or feeding herself differently.. this is HOW she lives..
It’s pretty evident she needs help man.

As a almost adult with a chubby figure, this is not healthy for a one year old to eat everyday. I would feed my child/toddler/baby something healthy and give em something for a snack like some sweets or something but not all the time.
And miss ma'am is like tired all the time?? Like gurl im tired yet i'd make sure my child is okay and well fed. Like shame on the mom tbh.
