She did something other than those braids to her hair.
Bleaching...? It looked like glue 🤔😬
Agreed. People saying bleaching makes sense to me other than she did not show us doing any hair color or lightener.
Probably used a hair relaxer
That’s not from braids I as a white woman have done them many times including dreads never has my hair done that. Yes I lost some hair when I brushed out the dreads but not like that
Why do you feel the need to do our hairstyles? @@olympiawebb4230
I did wonder if her mistake was not brushing out all the shed hair that got caught in the braids. I know if I don't brush my wavy hair every 4 days the amount of loose hair that gets tangled up is insane. It's a very important factor with fine hair in particular because fine hair is so prone to those super tiny knots that just pile on top of each other. The first thing I learned on my wavy curly hair journey was how when you brush hair less often more is likely to come out on wash day when you do brush your hair. I imagine that's doubly true for braids and other protective styles.
This! I have fine (but dense) curly hair, which I only wash about once a week. I tend to just pull it into a bun most days, so all of those shed hairs are just hangin’ around for several days at a time. Before stepping into the shower, on wash day, I use a detangling brush (starting at the ends, obv) which removes a lot of the shed hairs and makes it easy to comb through in the shower.
Definitely you have to brush or comb the shed out that happen to me with my first sew in I had to cut it all off 🤷🏽♀️ it grew back
Removing the shed hair would definitely have helped a lot. But I wonder if she also bleached her hair and then got the braids put in shortly afterwards…? Coloring her hair could’ve potentially made it drier (and therefore weaker). Maybe she also didn’t use an oil to help her take the braids out?
bleaching DEFINITELY makes the hair weaker, i can't get it done becuz relaxant + bleach = hair melting off my scalp
I have very long thick straight hair. I always brush it before I wash it and if I’m not wearing it up I brush it several times per day and this prevents breakage. Also don’t wash your hair daily it is very bad for the hair follicles. Your natural oils in your hair are there for a reason ❤ love yall hope you have a blessed day
Recently (within the last year) have been stretching out my washing time and it’s doing wonders for my super fine curly hair.
God put you here to help us all take better care of our hair! It’s education that’s needed. Thank you
thanks beautiful ❤

That wadded hair acts like it's overprocessed, but she's only gone up 3 levels (dishwater to light gold) which shouldn't fry it like that.
That's beyond "tangled". It resembles hair with a blown cuticle layer that has felted. No amount of brushing beforehand would have prevented that mess.
Also, after getting tf out of the salon I now wear my waist length hair in single, or double braids nearly every day. Sometimes I braid my chest-length beard too bcz I really like the way it reduces breakage & honors my pasty-white Celtic / Germanic roots.
🤷🐱 ❤️
But she wasn't coloring her hair in this video
@@maureenspessard521yes but you can see her roots are a different color than her current blonde, if they used bleach (which i'm assuming becuz her roots looked way darker imo) that absolutely weakens the hair
@@thea_therian Yes it does but it still doesn't make sense that it would end up in that hot mess without there being another step in between. I've done hair professionally for about 12 years now.
Something doesn't make sense about this. How'd it get that ratty? It reminds me of when my daughter got glue in her hair.
It's not because she has 1a hair texture. Something else happened. I have long wavy natural dark blonde hair, and sometimes I braid it just to be cooler in the summer. Not tiny braids, a French braid that hangs down my back. I left it braided up for three days during the recent hurricane here in Texas; when you unbraid hair YOU HAVE TO START FROM THE ENDS! Take your time gently unbraiding. Use a detangler spray if needed.
I think something else happened here. I never had a problem like this, but then again my hair has never been bleached.
That just doesn't make sense to me how did your hair become a big knot like that from Berets something is not making sense here
I smell sabotage
@@ms.pirateat the end of the video @ITSMECC explains it
I have type 1 hair, and you are very correct, you HAVE to brush and detangle, especially when you take down any kind of braids. I wear a satin night bonnet because the straps on my CPAP pull my hair out, my bonnet gets changed out and washed every time I cleanse my hair. The cap or bonnet makes a HUGE difference. No bed-head, no night snarls…
Either they braided them too tight or should have brushed before wash or you did something to your hair.. shouldn’t fall out like that
If the worst thing that's ever happened to you is that your hair got matted and had to be cut off, you've had a really good life. That hairdresser was an angel
That experience would make anyone miserable, feeling a giant ol knot whenever you go to lay your head down and having to be in a hair salon FOR 12 HOURS STRAIGHT??? it's giving zero empathy for other people 😕 like why are you even here
You were supposed to comb and brush ya hair out after you took the braids out before you washed it
She didn’t detangle prior to washing. You absolutely have to do that.
I love the way you stated that towards the end. Thank you, you are speaking facts. I sometimes do protective styles, it’s so important to keep the hair moisturized and detangle before washing, then after conditioning gently comb out the hair again.
Shedding is to expected, especially when you haven’t washed nor combed out the dead strands from your hair each day it was protected.
If you wet before detangling, this is the result. I didn’t even have to watch the whole video. As soon as I saw her hair I knew what had happened. It doesn’t matter what texture your hair is, you have to detangle before you wet it. I don’t have a license but I’ve been braiding hair since I was 12 - my own and others.
Did anybody in these comments actually watch the video all the way to the end? 🤔🤔🤔 "Why did her hair get matted like that?"... 🤦♂️
Who is this lady saying white people don’t need braids. She could have kept this to herself. They are very well able to do so. She needed to leave it at comb the shed hair out. Braids are for anyone. I have a black friends this has happened to. How prejudice of this lady to say this about braids on white women.
She started that statement saying “For all the ones in the comments mocking her..” she was not saying she shouldn’t wear braids. If you watch it again you will hear she was defending that person.
I’ve seen videos who say this is karma for her “ cultural appropriation “ 🙄. They say it’s African culture, but Africa is a continent, there’s different cultures in Africa. Egyptian culture is going to be different from a country like Zimbabwe, just like Mexican culture is going to be different than Jamaican culture , they’re both in North America. We don’t say North American culture.
I am a 42 year old white woman who has had her hair braided many times in many different ways. I've NEVER had a problem like this. Her hair looks like she tried to lock it up then tried to take it down like braids. This is definitely from trying to unlock it. Not braids. ❤
I'm white with fine curly hair. If I sleep without a bonnet when its curly it tangles so bad in the back. Her hair is fine it will tangle easily with dead hair mixed in.
So true 🙌🏻 You should always brush your hair before washing it regardless of having braids or not 👌🏻
Wow! 😳
My mom used to get braids every time she went on vacation when we were wee little kids, and this NEVER happened to her, so I do think that girl didnt brush it out well enough. Especially cuz what my mom said she liked about braids was that afterwards she would brush out so much dead hair and once all that was out itd leave her hair feeling really healthy.
Exactly
👍
Maybe this is from her natural hair being fused with the synthetic hair braided in?
It LOCKED UP SO QUICK😮.. that's crazy.
I think there's also the fact that your body changes and that includes your hair as you grow older and learning how to adapt and how to care for your hair, your skin, your body as it changes is imperative to understanding how to keep everything healthy 💜
I feel like we're missing something. It doesn't make sense You went from it braids out and curly to that mess.
I'm not buying it. I have mixed race family with varying curls. Not one time have I seen this. What really happened here?
She should have removed the shedded hair. Something similar happened to me YEARS ago as a black woman.
I wanted to look cute for my wedding. I got braids and removed them. Didn’t think to detangle and had a matted mess. I cut all of my hair off.
The last time I had braids I was a teen so I guess it just slipped my mind. After that day I have never made that same mistake when removing twists.
Cry about it, move on and learn.
It is a protected style for 4c hair & God Created us different you guys have really fine hair so it’s not created for You’re a texture hair but good luck 🍀
AINT NO FKN WAY!!! She clearly took them out wrong!!! This is a protective style! She messed this up all on her own!!! As a former stylist I would not let her come back bc WTF GIRL?!😤😤😤😤yt people can wear braids just fine but she did this lol
😂😂😂😂 Oh well!
Fatal mistake never wash before detangling.
Also, in my case I blamed the lady who installed my braids and didn’t once stop to think it was my fault for not detangling before washing.
I don't usually brush my hair out while it's dry, and i've never had this problem, I always comb my hair out in the shower becuz it's way easier to do it while it's wet, i have heard though if you have mats and get it wet and let it dry the mats get wayyyyy worse but honestly the situation is super weird to me, since she said she had braids before i'm not sure if the pictures she showed us was what it looked like when she had them in/took them out those previous times but not this time, becuz it makes zero sense for hair that doesn't look matted at all to turn into that afterwards, i've heard braiding too tightly can lead to hair loss but this was a giant knot....... weird
it's not the braids that did it, it has to be the products used or the lack of correct care or perhaps your hair is changing as you grow older (which is a thing).
❤❤❤
Yt people can wear braids SAFELY but this girl should have let her stylist take them out because WTF?!?!
Should've brushed throughly
She didnt brush her hair out before she washed it 🤣🤣🤣
This smells hella fishy to me. It takes a lot of neglect to get a matt like that.
You should have brushed out the dead stands. You washed locked hair and made it worse.
Does anyone know which bonnets are best for beginners to start with, or is there a specific type thats good for people with lots of curly hair, kinda thick?
Chemicals n constant messing with it makes weak.
I need more of an explanation cause this just doesn't make any sense. Were you sabotaged? Did you go to a different braider this time?
She did something else, like not brush it….
Maybe they put too much edge control. 🥴
🤔 wonder what went wrong? Sorry that’s terrible..
Why is she getting braids??
