      So did my mom, though hers was more of a scarf. I also have curly hair, that mostly just looks frizzy these days because now that I am older, I just don’t go out that often. I mainly leave the house to shop, or go to my mom’s, and run her errands. It is mostly pulled into a bun or ponytail so I don’t have to mess with it. 😂😂 My man is always surprised when it’s down because he forgets I have long hair.

      I’m not there yet. It’s so difficult for me to manage my NATURALLY wavy hair that I’ve spent the last near 20 yrs straightening the heck out of, straight hair is easier to manage. But I wake up and my hair is half wavy and half straight ( the side I sleep on)
      But all the work it takes to define my waves is so much, I’m disabled and one of my arms doesn’t have full range of motion and I’d rather not spend all my energy doing my hair, so I just straighten it, I wish there was an easy quick way to define your natural waves

    • @amandah2866
      @amandah2866 Před měsícem

      @mcnoneya I've found that using enough conditioner and then scrunching in a leave in conditioner gives decent definition especially on wash days when I'm struggling. I don't have the option to straighten my hair because I have hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) which is particularly bad on my scalp and face. All the heat and movement involved in straightening causes me to sweat enough that my roots are wet and everywhere else gets frizzy. I tried to get my hair permanently straightened, but it didn't hold because of the moisture from my scalp. My choice is fluffy puffy damaged hair trying to be straight or frizzy somewhat defined wavy curly hair that's healthy.

      @amandah2866 Před měsícem

      @mcnoneya Definitely the leave-in adds shine and definition. The one I use is GeorgieMane. It's their curl cream. It has a bit of hold but isn't sticky or crunchy at all. Plus it smells amazing. But honestly just experiment as much as you can to find what works for you.

And I have a 24 year old black lass to thank, who when hearing me grumble about my hair at work one day (yes I still work, I like my work and it keeps me sharp) told me to stop fighting with my hair. I grew up in a family with all strait hair, I had no clue how to care for my 2c hair growing up. I was teased horribly for my frizzy mess, told I needed to wash and brush my hair more. I know now can't use products meant for "white" hair, my hair falls out and brakes off at my chin. My hair is just too dry, it needs all the moisture. I'm so thankful for the black women who taught me how to care for my hair. It is sad I'm no longer welcome in the group I learned from, there was some really nice ladies in there.
    On the suggestion that you can scrunch strait hair curly, I call BS. My sister's hair won't take a curl longer then an hour my 2c will hold a set curl until I wash again. When we were little and having pictures the next day mom would set both my sister's and my hair in curlers over night. Mine in big curlers and my sisters in little ones, then pull mine out when I woke up first thing and my sister's right before the shoot. LOL for like 5 mins we would have matching curls, hers light mine dark. By the end of the day my hair would still be perfect and hers would be flat. There is a huge difference in in strait hair vs curly/wavy.

    I just discovered this channel today and I already subed. We should share our knowledge about hair with all women. I was shown grace from my friend and her mom when I was in middle school and made a big mistake. Idk her hair so so different from mine. I just thought she had tighter curls than my spirals.
    We were at the beach and she said she didn't want to get her hair wet because she had just got it done the day before. Idk it was a big deal and we ended up splashing her anyway with lake water. We thought she just didn't want to wash her hair that night like kids not wanting to shower kind of a thing. After the beach, I went back to her house where she told me all the hours it took to get her hair done and said her mom was gonna kill her (her mom didn't abuse her for the record for some that may not know its just a saying). She told me about how she didn't have oils in her hair and gave me a real lesson that day. She even give me (what I called the magic pink bottle) for my hair. I had used sun-in and fried my hair and it was like hay. She thought me how to blow it out and even how to straighten it without hurting my hair. I always wanted straight hair because I always had curls and my mom wouldn't let me do anything with my hair (thats why I had to sneak to get sun-in in the first place). She taught me so much and all in the time before Mrs. K came home. I walked up to her mom and confessed to what I did and let her know it wasn't her daughter's fault, that Idk any better but her daughter told me about her hair and about mine. I also told her I would gladly pay for her to get her hair done again. (I didn't have any money but I knew my Mama would pay for it when she found out what I had done and I could work it off doing chores). I just didn't want my friend to get in trouble. Mrs. K's said she was proud of me for telling the truth and said I didn't have to pay for it or tell my Mama (who definitely would have and I would have got in trouble) because it was a honest mistake and I didn't know better and thought I shouldn't get in trouble for it. It was during summer break and she didn't want to risk me getting grounded for it. They taught me to appreciate all hair types and to respect The Hair! Also, when I went to school my hair never looked better from what they taught me. My hair was no longer fried and I learned to appreciate my curls even though I still choose to wear it straight sometimes. Mama always tried to get me to appreciate them but I didn't and she knew Mrs. K somehow got me to and was glad. Also, she was asking me how I made my hair look so much better and I told her it was the magic pink bottle. Lol I know now it's not the best but it was the best product I ever had back then. When I ran out we tried to find some at all the local stores but they didn't have any so Mama insisted that the place between Mrs. K's house and ours start carrying products for other types of hair and they did. I have had an appreciation for hair ever since then. And as you can see by my pic, I learned to do my hair on my own without making a mess out of it. 😊 I did eventually tell Mama what I did though. I didn't get in trouble but Mama went to the Salon and wrote a check to pay for her hair for the next time she went. She didn't know till she went in that it was already paid for. Mama gave extra in case she wanted to do something different or wanted products. She figured Mrs. K wouldn't accept the money if she tried to give it to her and I'm sure she was right.

I really struggle to keep curls in, even if I use a curling iron, then pin the curls up until cooled, or even longer, plus lots of product. People’s hair is how it is. You can’t control how you’re born. All hair types are beautiful!

    Most of women in Greece, myself included, have naturally curly hair. People need to chill with that gatekeeping.

    I can assure these people that no matter how much I scrunch my hair, there's never going to be "texture" in it. It's as straight as a bone and even professional hairdressers have tried to put some waves in it and just given up.
    The curly hair gatekeepering is ridiculous. It's something nobody of us is responsible for, our hair texture is not our accomplishment, it's just how we're born. It doesn't makes us more special than others. I like all kinds of hairs and the variety human nature allows.

    I have pin-straight hair, and no, scrunching it doesn't magically turn it curly lol.

    Lol “white people can’t have curly hair” now I may be Cuban but I’m also white and my hair can’t not be curly. Even when it’s a complete ball of frizz, it’s a curly ball of frizz. No amount of combing can make it straight. So yes white people can 100% have curly hair, even when it’s damaged my hair is still curly, it’s just ugly and curly lmao

    I’m glad my hair is soft curls. I have a friend who has tight curls. It takes her forever to grow her hair out because the curls just keep bouncing back to her head. She could take the curl and stretch it 4 inches from her head, but it snaps back up.

    My sisters hair can’t hold a curl for the life of her. She even got a perm once and it just didn’t take. Me on the other hand have this weird array of spiral curls,loose waves and a few strands that don’t seem to curl on their own hair. I’m finally trying to embrace my curls and am going to a hairstylist that is helping me understand my curls better….but it’s only taken me 50 years.

    You do realize ethnic people, specifically BP with type 2-3 hair have to do this too to plump their curls, not just WP? Their hair appears straight when wet, but curly when dry. They follow this technique to get smooth vs frizzy curls. It doesn’t matter how tight the curls are. Curls even loose curls look better when proper techniques and products are used. Can we at least agree as BP who have multiple textures even straight in our families to stop shaming people for what they do with their hair? Not sure I’d even promote a WW doing it as you’re doing in this video review, but I commend you for not choosing a BW who was criticizing a WW plumping her curls. 🤦🏽‍♀️

      That its not true when our hair is dry it's naturally curly products that just enhance our hair. Just like she said, tf are you talking about your not black. A black person wasn't even mentioned in her response to naturally curly hair, so move on. And she was reacting to a white woman, not even commenting gas lighting ahh big.
