If you're looking to learn more about UK 8 ball pool then hopefully I can help. I'm certainly no pro but I've been learning the game and practicing hard over the last few years and thought I'd share some of the more useful points I've discovered along the way. There's lots of advice out there, some good some bad and with UK 8 ball having a few things that make it unique from other variants of pool, I wanted to make some videos that might help others in the game. I'll be making video tutorials for all sorts of things like cueing, applying spin to the ball, practice routines and lots more. It might take a while to build up the collection but please subscribe if you like the videos and let us know what sort of things you'd like to learn about too?
Clearing A Pool Table - With Commentary | Pool School
In this video I look at clearing a pool table. I give a running commentary as I plan my way through the clearance to help give an insight into how I'm getting position with the cue ball and keeping the clearance as simple as possible. Hopefully this step by step guide will understand the thought process when it comes to clearing the table in a game of pool.

Pool School now has a new sponsor, Table Time Sports. As part of that new partnership I was sent one of their products to review. They sent me a Britannia pool cue called "The Bullet" which is part of their pro range. It is a British pool cue and I was invited to give me thoughts on the cue. I was not paid for the review, other than receiving the cue for free, and all views are my own honest an...

New Years Pool Practice Drill 2024 | Pool School

Happy New year 2024 from Pool School. To celebrate the start of the New Year I've created this pool drill which uses two sets of pool balls to set out 2024 on the table. I've allowed myself to cannon into other balls in this demonstration but if you wanted to make it really hard for yourself you could try not contacting other balls as you go. It's a very tight practice routine though with not a...

Great information !
I prefer to leave my ball in the front of there there ball that's in the pocket if available. That's the best way to solve the "there ball is blocking my ball. They cannot finish the game without giving me another turn at the table. High level 8 ball or what the euro game is called "black ball"
Even if your ball partially covers the opponents ball tand they can still make the ball there ability to get shape is severely hampered.
Really like your video. Are you able to do one explaining diamond system (plus system). I am a beginner and this system is so complicating to understand.
Thanks. I’m sorry I’m afraid I can’t as I play English pool, and English pool tables don’t have diamonds.
I aim at the object ball, what's this ghost ball you mention?
How To Aim In Pool - Beginners Guide | Pool School czcams.com/video/kAM6akLr2Fc/video.html
Problem is with me is I dont know what rules to play with half the time. Will play a bit of international rules and some from the old english pool rules, bits and bobs really. Me and my mate seem to pick and choose the rules we like and play with them. Problem is I wonder if the rules even make sence anymore the amount of different rules mixed in. Sometimes we change rules a few games in. Its actually harder than you think to stick to a certain set of rules when theres so many different rule sets you can play too. Old english rules, world rules, black ball and international lol. Playing american 8 ball dosent make it any less confusing either when transtioning back to english pool.
This was the one video I was looking for. Explained perfectly what I wanted to know. Went through a ton of them before finally finding it. Great video very well explained and demonstrated
This is so useful. As you say I've become a lot better player, however I'm loosing a lot of games when down to one ball or just black. It's getting pretty demoralising so this video helps a lot and I hope things will change.
What make and name of cue are you playing with?
It’s a “Taylor Made” cue.
probably the single most important thing to get right and the most effective method I have seen to find cue position on chin Thank you 😊
This was great cheers!
Nice one 👌🏻😉🍀
Thanks for this bud, your videos are always clear and informative helps us amateur players out alot :) 😊
...which all goes to show World Rules are a bit rubbish.
And u not a pro player . Man Inam going to play like u do. What a challenge😮
Another excellent video with a great break and run. I like the way you explain your thought processes and the potential different options and outcomes depending on how you play the shot. Many thanks 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Glad to see you posting, feels like forever since I we had the pleasure of one of your videos.
Sorry, been really busy.
Nicely done. Thanks for putting together
No problem 👍
Awsome
I can watch your videos alllllllll day long! Thanks again for the wonderful content. :)
Thank you 🙏
Excellent video! keep them coming.
I find these sort of videos so helpful. Thanks.
Great video! Love how you show the viewer, every diagram in relation to the tangent line. Thank you
It’s just nice when I see your videos pop up ,,, appreciate the work that goes into it … have the exact same table at home now 😂😂😂😂
Really well presented and helpful vid! 👏 I have a request if you're up for it: Could you try show us a break & run from a less perfect spread, from a dodgier rack? In my league most tables are bobbly and unkempt, and almost impossible to get a perfect rack and most players reffing don't try too hard get it spot on anyway. Plus my break isn't always as solid as yours, so I'm usually looking at a much trickier layout after the break, with a breakout or two needed and a good bit of traffic. Thanks bud!
Cheers. I have couple more of these where the balls aren't quite so nicely spread. I'll see if I can make one with a bad spread of the balls though. The 3rd clearance in the first video below has a fairly bad spread off the break. czcams.com/video/3DoJtqfHRM4/video.htmlsi=SbtN79Hduv0kyAt3 czcams.com/video/i6ZT49jv5jk/video.htmlsi=y-cbysWnsks2eCl5 czcams.com/video/UsOCwdOr95k/video.htmlsi=ByRSsF6Kw3QqGnnw czcams.com/video/ffCNHwdfyg0/video.html
@@PoolSchool Thanks a lot! I'll give these a watch. Keep up the excellent content!
The first shot, could you have played a red into the yellow making the position easier? I mean, the rules you were playing, can you pot the yellow off a red?
Unfortunately you can't do that in international rules. The colour you strike first is deemed the colour you where going for, so you were going for red but pot a yellow. This wouldn't be a foul but it is loss of turn and you wouldn't claim the yellows.
@@PoolSchoolThanks for the clarification.
I like the fact that you just explain the potential options as many of us would have a different way of running out but there is always that way that makes he run extremely simple! Really clinical run and your communication skills is excellent very easy of the ear
Thank you, appreciate that. And you're spot on, there are always loads of ways of making the clearance but a little planning can hopefully make it pretty simple.
7ft refears to the table size or the playing field size?
For an English pool table 7ft refers to the length of the cabinet(table). The playing surface is 6ftx3ft
Thank you!
nearest to which cushion?
I have a quick question In regards to the break what happens if a foul break occurs ie 3 points have not be scored but the cue ball also comes off the table Thanks in advance
Still just a foul break and the other players choice of break. It has to be a legal break first and foremost before anything else comes into play.
MY drill regiments are usually on Saturday and Sundays. 12pm to 5pm with 15 min breaks every 60-90 mins.
Recent got a table at home and I've been loving these videos, thanks for making them. What is the light you have above your table? Since I'm also an After Effects animator / developer I'm really curious if I already know your animation! But I can imagine you might not want to reveal that identity on here…
Cheers. The light is a Supreme LED table light. No don’t mind sharing it. I have my own company (which is just me) called Squash & Stretch Animation Ltd. I’m based in Ipswich.
@@PoolSchool That is a good looking light, thanks. Nice work! I'm based in Norwich. I used to do more commercial animation but these days I mostly make tools for After Effects (Limber, Penpal and Bendio).
Any videos coming lad? get out of trouble shots could be an idea 3 cushion escape or the cocked hat etc
Sorry been so busy I’ve struggled to get any time to do one recently. Hopefully one coming soon.
my friends always be forcing me to play this game and I hate it so imma practice in my free time sometimes
Only good Videos from you
Also nice Video
Nice Video!
Is the actual plastic bowl made by a 3D printer? That is my main concern.
By the way , your cueball control is really nice
Nice drill ! Absolutely gold value....and not boring at all ! .....ill try that on my students monday 😉
This video really works! I am way better at swimming now
Perfect video for beginner
Thanks
Great video. There's been a bit of a debate of using running English or Top English. I think both because top spin creates forward rotation further securing the object ball on the rail. How much is needed of both will likely depend on the angle you are shooting.
Great tutorial. For the first bank shot. If you add a bit if low and a touch of right spin you can shorten the shot down the table. You can experiment by shooting towards the tip of the right side of the center pocket when trying to bank from the first diamond near the pocket for a corner to corner bank. Just aim towards the far side of the pocket on most tables. Using low English and hitting it slow creates forward rotation which will cause you to miss the shot and the reverse is true when hitting it fast with low English. So usually the shot only requires either a bit of high English at a medium speed or low at a slower speed but it's a good way to experiment with spin to see the effect. You can set up a ball in the corner in various positions by the pocket or just practice without the ball.
This was a good tutorial except I think it should be mentioned that the throw will depend on the speed and at a faster speed will not be a heavy factor. This is why many players unknowingly just hit it hard for better results. And if you use a bit of opposite spin to the cut then you can still aim at the ghost ball at a reduced speed. But with a high power shot that has spin you will need to aim closer to the opposite side of the rail of then the spin applied to avoid deflection. 15-30 degree cuts will require a good bit of spin while lesser or larger cuts may require less spin to pot.
great vids! have you got clearance for the cue the whole way round the table even at the edges for that room? Im going to be building something similar very soon!
Thanks. Yes I have, I built it specifically so that I could cue all the way round.
thank you for an informative lesson!
Glad it was helpful!
