  • In this video we look at the importance of learning from mistakes. When playing pool it is important that if we miss a shot or don't get the position we were aiming for, that we try to understand why and learn from our mistakes so that we can develop as a pool player. This pool tutorial runs through a game of pool and looks in detail at why something might have gone wrong.
    The shots are carried out on a 7ft UK 8 ball table

    More... more... more.... more... more... more... more... more... more. At the cost of sounding entitled, I implore you to follow up this video with others of it's kind. Sometimes seeing top tier play (near perfect) can be disheartening and worse more it offers nothing in the way of being an instructive tool on the journey to leveling up one's pool game. That's why I feel enlightened by the live narration going on in the video, more so, when you explain the mistakes, I realize the thought process I have whenever I play pool is too optimistic and erratic that it doesn't take into account how to deal with anticipated mistakes. And the visual aids showing the cue ball paths are much appreciated 👍. Thank you 😊

    Excellent video. Aimed right where my playing level is about at with knowing where I want the balls to go but not always getting them there. Great mind set.

    Great to see you back. A brave video to show that you are not quite (yet) at the Gareth Potts level! Must admit the “mistakes” you made are very similar to the ones I would be prone to make. The judgment of pace is so fundamental to positional play but so easy to get it fractionally wrong!

    • @PoolSchool
      @PoolSchool  Před rokem

      Cheers. Yeah but I’m happy to admit I’m nowhere near that level. Hopefully seeing I’m only human makes the video easier to relate to for beginners, rather than just watching a pro do something they know they can’t achieve. Surprisingly difficult to film this though and get a good balance of mistakes and success.

    wouldn’t you have been able to play the shot to get onto the black along the tangent line and off two cushions to leave yourself onto the black into the corner ?

    • @PoolSchool
      @PoolSchool  Před rokem

      Yes you could although much like the firm top spin option you have to travel further so there is a little more room for error when getting the pace right. It's certainly a viable option. There's always several ways to get the position and as I said comes down to which you feel most confident with really.

    The problem with the missed yellow and the safety shot is in APA rules it was ball in hand to the red.

    • @PoolSchool
      @PoolSchool  Před rokem +1

      I'm playing to World Rules in this video so because it was a "Total Snooker" you are allowed to not hit a cushion afterwards when escaping a snooker.

  • @davidparker781
    @davidparker781 Před 6 měsíci

    In playing most games, if you fail to go to a rail with the cue ball or object ball, it’s a foul and the other player has ball in hand.

    • @PoolSchool
      @PoolSchool  Před 6 měsíci

      This game is being played under “world rules”. In that rule set if you are snookered on your own colour set you can declare a “total snooker” to the ref. This then allows you to escape the snooker without hitting a cushion with any ball after contact.
      I now play International rules and that is not allowed, like you say, you have to hit a cushion, even when snookered. It’s just different rule sets.
