Working The Homestead Garden & Moose Fence | ALL OF JUNE 2024
Join us for the entire month of June in the homestead garden! We are working hard to get a garden established and hopefully grow some of our own food by the end of it all.
In the long run, this garden needs to be feeding us. While the cabin is our number one priority right now, we fit in garden work where we can because we know the work will show in the years to come!
We are learning as we go, so as always this is not a how-to video in any way. Some of our ideas are working great and some are not working great. We are all about showing you every bit of it though.
If this video is well received, I will get us another one going for the month of July! Stay tuned for all future adventures and as always THANK YOU FOR WATCHING.
We are working on some possible merchandise so if you are interested in knowing FIRST, make sure to sign up for our new email list: mailchi.mp/5f1430404220/join-our-email-list

Building a Cabin in The Woods | Ceiling Insulation & Sheeting
zhlédnutí 27KPřed dnem
Levi’s brother flies up to help us wrap up the cabin roof and the interior insulation/sheeting! We made some amazing progress this week with the extra set of hands and could not be more grateful for it. Once we get windows and doors in, we are officially working on the cabin's interior. We will be building porches on both ends of the cabin but those are lower priority to make sure we actually l...
Roofing Our Off-Grid Cabin | Rafters to Metal
zhlédnutí 31KPřed 14 dny
We are back at the cabin build! Today we go all the way from rafters to metal on the cabin roof. The guys have been working hard in between other jobs and visitors to keep up the cabin's progress. We are so close to having the exterior work done, that we can taste it! Luckily, the weather has been amazing and we should have the metal totally one before any more rain hits. Then we can work on fi...
Cabin Supply Run | Getting Groceries in Alaska

We have had a ton of comments asking what the music is in our video! The fiddle tune is “Leaning on Everlasting”, performed by Zachariah Hickman. Today, we take you with us for a full day in town! We did our best to show you a realistic trip to the closest WalMart-sized town. It is not the most fun thing to film in front of perfect strangers and risk ending up as an “influencer in the wild” but...

We all got hit with a cold and did not make much cabin progress this week. So, today we thought it would be fun to walk around the property and show off some of the natural flora and the projects we’ve completed to date. There is still so much to do but we ar...

linktr.ee/beccanlevisalaska This was a BUSY week! We are working hard to get things ready before summer officially “starts” but the busy season has been here for a bit now. Levi and his Dad set the final cabin log while Becca finished prepping for potatoes to be planted. The hügelkultur bed still has some work to be done and planting will be well on the way by our next video! Planting no earlie...

Log Cabin Window & Door Frames | Our Home is Taking Shape

The window frames and door frames of the cabin being built is REALLY starting to give our future home some shape! The snowmachines have been "summer-ized" and the four-wheeler has been dug out! ❤ Beautiful! For the owner to show up to give you the key personally, leave the buildings clean & organized, the lawn newly cut means they loved their home but wanted to meet the person that would be its new caretaker. So no more negative feelings about how you received the property. It was meant to be yours !! It's perfect for you to prosper in all your dreams !!🎉❤

If you have compost you can make a compost tea for your garden. Looks like your plant are lacking nutrients (yellow leaf) Google Compost tea or plant food we use fish guts.

Your garden is looking good. Next year it will be even better. If you eat bananas, put the peels in a bucket of water. Stir them & let set for a few days than add to garden. It's really good on when just starting seeds also. Henry is starting to babble now, so cute. 😊

The garden is doing well. You are learning so much this year, what to plant and where to plant. Agree, you may have to take down a few more tree. Put the strawberries a place where they can vine and multiply. Thought the lettuce looked fine, might be different kind from what you expected. Henry is going to be your garden helper. Understandably the cabin and wood shed are priority. I enjoyed seeing the garden progress.

May I make a suggestion , don't wear your wedding ring while working the small prongs that hold the diamond on can wear off and then you will lose the set. I've lost 2 diamonds, now I check my rings for lose sets regularly.

    • @marlysjcollins8775
      @marlysjcollins8775 Před 5 dny

This is great advice. I worked for a jeweler and learned to put my diamond in a safe place where even I’m doing any heavy cleaning or yard work. I have a designated hook in my pantry and another designated spot in my bedroom. ALWAYS put it in the same place(s)! Even laundry can be harsh on your ring as the setting can easily be caught in the edge of the machine.

Becca you should try to grow catmint it’s a natural mosquito repellant that you can just rub on your skin. Not toxic at all. Safe for animals and human of all sizes!! Garden trouble add perlite into the soil. It keeps it loose and air can get into it. Most garden centres use it for their pots. It’s the cheapest thing to use. Orchid soil is also great but very expensive. Give it a try I’m sure you will like the results. Cabins moving along fab. 🎉😂
