    I have the identical saw in a Metabo brand. I built a table for it, ditched the original fence, and mounted a Delta T2 fence to the front of the table and it worked wonders for me. Was about $200 when I bought it. May be like 300 now. Honestly for the cost of the saw and the fence together I should have bought a delta table saw and been done with it.

    For wheels and castors, try theatrical chandlers. The moment I heard the suggestion a few years ago, it made so much sense. Huge variety, lots of specification details... they have to be both good and specific for safety and rapid movement of heavy, unbalanced, or lightweight items often in the dark. Maybe slightly more expensive than Amazon but a more ethical purchase in terms of tax paid by the corporation and you can get exactly what you want, even call them for advice

    Don't "Just make sure you use a combination blade". Get all three: crosscut, combination, and rip and use appropriately. Even a cheap saw can produce immaculate crosscuts using a crosscut blade

So thank you very much and I recommend a socket splitter with a gaglat, it will help you with the tools. (You are definitely welcome to overdo it and buy a portable home power bank. It is always good)

    Great vid fella. Only one thing to be aware of is the plastic front sheet is likely to vibrate against the plywood front facia underneath....more glue egor! Oh and you will get edge diffraction as the sound bounces off the front 'raised' edges. And one more tip, you have the cabinets rammed up against a wall so the ports cant 'breath' reducing your bass response, they need to come forward at least 50cm, preferably a good 1.5m. But, what an epic build, clearly incredibly skilled in woodwork.

    Would these joints make a frame stronger compared to a square or rectangle frame with 45° corner supports? Im trying to make a platform that will support a very heavy gondola shelving system. Loaded the system will weigh around 2000 pounds.

    I have been using shellac flakes and love how the finish dries so quickly. Two days and your done and no smell in the shop. What I have been looking into is what you can add to the shellac to make it into a satin finish. One was silica, and another was a product that could be purchased from a finishing company where it seemed that every ingredient had a msds sheet attached. This looks like a finish I have been looking for... safe and non toxic. I thank you for posting this video.

    Not exactly what you asked about, but look into the BOW xtender fence system. Doesn’t address the rack & pinion issue, but you can at least get a quality fence and will be able to increase the overall safety of your saw. Awesome video btw. One day my ADHD brain will get one built 😂

    What a great, practical project. Jobsite saws can be both equal parts great for their compact nature, but also equally shite because of how hard it is to use them without outfeed tables, wrong work height, etc. I bought a Milwaukee cordless jobsite saw a couple years back and don't know that I'd ever have much use for a full, corded saw. At the same time, it's little rinky-dink stand and no outfeed make it seriously annoying to use and the table is so small a crosscut sled is pretty much impossible to use as well. This video has given me a multitude of ideas to revisit at some point when I have the space to actually make that saw function efficiently. I'll definitely be referring back to this video when the time comes. Also, I have that same Fien dust extractor - it's nice, quiet performer without breaking the bank (but still a LOT more expensive than a big-box shop vac - but hey, at least it's not Festool-expensive).

  • @82gamerprincess31
    @82gamerprincess31 Před dnem

    Only thing more scary than a corded drill is a 20V cordless one. They are very heavy and extremely torquey. If it binds it can literally break your wrist because it’s too heavy to stop it. Like trying to turn a car without power steering.

  • @jasonwitherspoon5454

    For an add-on fence, I think the Delta Model 36-Txxx is an excellent choice. I put one on my hand-me-down Craftsman saw and it made a world of difference. Home Depot usually has a good price on them for some reason. Really easy to retrofit. I made a similar cart for my saw and I did not use the back rail choosing to have the back end of the fence glide.

    Well one caveat, the small jobsite saw doesn’t have the power to cut thick stuff. But I guess if you’re making cabinets it would work fine. Get a decent JS SAW and just trick it out. Nice idea🎉😮

    I wish I knew of an aftermarket fence (at a reasonable price...) for myself. I have a Bosch contractor saw. it is surprisingly weak (upside: no chance of a kickback! LOL), but my biggest problem with it is the fence. the damn thing is very VERY hard to be set straight. there is almost always a small tilt to it. if it was a really small error, I can live with it. I am not chasing perfection here. I am talking about 1 to 2 mm for the length of the fence... (1mm is about a 1/16th if I remember correctly). really annoying.
