Around 4:10 as the Christian fan that also loves this series. They are technically humans that were born into a world of sin. Also, I think. What was his name? Sika Midao or something. Is technically Satan. I forget where in the bible but it is stated that Satan is the god (lowercase for a reason) of this world. Satan has restrictions but he has a lot of freedom to mess with this world. Never heard of Satan creating humans sure but Sika is acting like a god of this world. As for what the humans are. They are at least in my head cannon Nephilim. Those creatures were born from female humans and male angels. When the females birthed babies those babies where Nephilim. Though in the bible the Nephilim were giant creatures. We know Kagami takes biblical lore in most of his series as inspiration. So not everything is 1-1 scale,.

I don't think I've ever felt this divided because of a chapter in a story, because on one hand it has a story element I really love, and yet at the same time this reveal is kinda making me hate it at the same time. So I've got two different views on the story at this point, I'm kinda like Schrödinger's Cat where I both hate and love it at the same time. So view one and my petty reasons for hating the story: I just want Mikaela to BE Mikaela, with no weird soul bonds/magical connections to someone else. I liked that Yuu had betrayed Guren to save Mika and now it's kind of like he did it to save his own soul (* putting a pin in this for view two), it just feels like from the readers point of view while Yuu is the protagonist Mika was the driving force of the story and I really liked that, but now Yuu is both the protagonist and driving force and Mika is his sidekick. (And I wanted Shikama to be Mika's father and now he isn't.) So view number two why I like the story: I really enjoy stories about memories and individuality and what makes a person a person. And in my opinion it's the memories that make a person, so it's not a matter of Yuu being Seraph Mikaela and Mika being eyeball Yuu, but four seperate characters. Yuu doesn't actually remember being Mikaela and vice versa for Mika. *When Yuu betrayed Guren to save Mika he didn't know about any weird soul switcheroo, in his and Mikas eyes he was actively betraying Guren for Mika, and that was his intention. He wasn't trying to save himself, he thought he was saving Mika. And I think in the event that either Mika or Yuu is restored with their old memories or souls they'll be different people again. Great video as always sorry if my ramblings didn't make any sense 😂

Tbh I think some things would've come over better in a Novel instead of an Manga, I personally would love to read Seraph of the end as a complete Novel

Welcome back! It's perfectly fine if you are not as invested as before. Characterization has changed, as you said, but I think it has more to do with the changes in circumstances rather than retcons. The soul switcheroo is very interesting to me, mainly because of how much it doesn't matter. It doesn't change the characters or goals, it just means that they have a secret that can be used against the First. Sika Madu's goal is to bring back Michaela and all the angels, Michaela (Angel) wants his father to be saved, meaning, to not be a Vampire anymore, which means he can't keep breaking taboos for the sake of others, so he'll do it himself with Eyeball Yu's help. Guren only wants humanity to come back, and Mika and Yuu want to save everyone. To achieve this, each faction needs the Seven Keys, and the soul of Michaela (how it will be used it's kind of a mystery yet), because whatever the "light" the angels collected was, it's able to create life and even reverse death. There's a quote by Stephen King: "There's an idea that hell is other people. My idea is that it might be repetition" and the reveal that Sika Madu breaking the taboos turned Earth into Hell aligns quite well with it. The characters will repeat the catalyst that made this world hell ("let me sacrifice myself for the sake of another, I'm sure nothing will go wrong"), and only by breaking the cycle Earth can truly move forward. For me, the narrative isn't pointing at "Yuu must die", but at "Yuu, Mika, and all the players need to discard the idea of self-sacrifice and want to live if we want this whole thing to end", which Yuu and Mika more or less state outright, but don't quite grasp yet. Well, next chapter is relatively soon, and we'll see what Yuu and Mika plan to do in the Vampire stronghold and maybe even some clue as to how they will achieve their goals, I guess... I hope...

(I still haven't watch the video cause I am studying but I just want to put some of my thoughts) If you look at it in a way, Mika is still angel Mika, he just made an extra step and became an another creature that exist in sote universe, a homunculus- (Mika is everything joke can still exist💀) Also we still have no idea how angel Mika died. Did he died from the illness or something else. I mean he is alive after the whole soul switching thingy. And hear me out but the first's child (basically Yuu) is a new character because all we saw everytime as angel Mikalae have been Mika. Right now we saw the death of a seemly new character and the reason for the First doing stuff they're doing. But we still have no idea how angel Mika come to as a corpse in ancient Greece again. Also feel like I skip a chapter but why are they trying to revive Angel Mika again? Angel Mika corpse didn't seem to exist anymore so if we revive A.M then we need Yuu soul to go inside our Mika right. Wouldn't that mean Mika will die? Also why does homunculus Yuu have a soul? Is it because he was named? but I don't think having a heart and a soul is the same thing. And you are right about demon Mika cause I was so confused when I first read it. How the heck did he become a demon king if he was not even a full demon to begin with. My boy Mika is never anything full. Half human. Half seraph. Half homunculus. Half vampire. And now half demon💀 With every current chapter, the existence of Mika himself become so confusing like I love you and all but WHO TF ARE YOU!!?

15:15 so I have mixed feelings about this panel where Guren is refilling the plan to the others. So I’ve been thinking what if since Guren’s plan is the same plan as Shakama so I’ve been wondering what if Guren was lied to when he was told the whole resurrection plan since Shakama wants to bring his son back to life so what if the plan was in Shakama Doji side of things. What if it did only one thing? I don’t know I’m just throwing ideas out there.

I read it and it was a heavy read. The topics were so raw and close to heart. I started it thinking it will be just a cute romantic story and i was in for a treat.

To clarify the situation: no, Yu is not Mikaela, he is just the bearer of his soul, but this fact doesn't make him Mikaela himself. Sooner or later Mikaela will return to his body. Mika is a separate character, so Mika and Yu are not the same person.

I figured Sika Madu was basically going to be Satan and Yu was reincarnation of Mikaela.

edit: KAGAMI WHAT THE FUCK (this comment aged like FINE. WINE.) I have a crack theory that Mikey and Black Floating Eye aren't actually Mika and Yu but *the other way round* because of some things mentioned like "Mika saying 'Mikey' has Yu's personality more than his" (which made me spiral down a rabbit whole of: OH WAIT) What if: Mika = Mikey's *vessel* created by The First (Saito mentioned wayyyy back that when Mika first showed up at the orphanage The First's experiment went right, which makes me thing he was trying to create a host for Mikey's soul??) Yuu = The...soul/personality of Mikey? (I think this would also explain why Yuu is 'corrupted' or seems more demonic than Mika (the purest, angelic form of Mikey while Yuu is the corrupted soul of Mikey, who was born from sin). This would also explain why Yuu's dad called him demon spawn in the beginning and why, when Demon Mika was first taking over Yuu's heart, he saw black suns - because Yuu/Mikey is detached from the light of God?) The Black Floating Eye's job was to protect/serve Mikey. While Mika only ever has eyes for/protects Yuu. We know the memory that we see in the last few chapter's flashback is the Black Floating Eye's since Mikey is dead yet the memory keeps going, but Mika and Yuu aren't sure who's memory it is...which makes me think *why* Kagami doesn't outright say who's memory it is. There shouldn't be any need for ambiguity if Mikey dies and we are supposed to assume it's Yuu's memory, unless the Black Floating Eye was Mika. SO: Mika = Black Floating Eye (nicknamed 'Yuu' *by* Mikey. When The First was creating the multiple forms of Mikey's Soul, he might've named it Yuu because that's what Mikey cherished so dearly) BUT AGAIN THIS IS VERY OUT THERE AND IM NOT SURE IT MAKES SENSE :'D There's a theory being formed here.....but it's so complicated that it makes it hard to write out lol, if there's any inconsistencies please let me know!! It seems like it fits Kagami's style of story telling though so honestly i wouldn't be THAT surprised if this turns out to be true haha! Tl;dr MIKA AND YUU ARE TWO HALFS OF ONE WHOLE, BASICALLY ACTUAL SOULMATES??? WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN WHY MIKAYUU SEEMS SO IMPOSSIBLY CANON? (i think this would also maybe explain their Light/Dark, Ying/Yang dynamic, but that is stretching so much even for me xD)

Christian here. In the Bible, it talks about Nephilim. Those are creatures that were created after the angels that fell from heaven mated with human. Using that logic. The Angels in the story. Probably understand the feeling the love. If you look into bible lore. A lot of what kagami writes in seraph of the end. Is well researched.

I think guren and ferid had the seven keys they have 4 with ferid cause guren mahiru and noya have 3 keys for saving shinoa for shikama but im not sure 😅,i forgot many thing in this manga (i wait mitsuba screen time and backstory cause kagami say it im really exicited )

I am absolutely loving this story. It has some of the most phenomenal and intricate world building I have ever read. I cannot wait to see where you go with it. Thank you for making this video and explaining your inspirations. I love when you talked about all of the beautiful visuals Brian gave us and how you have used them in this story. I also totally agree about the Will and water motif. When you chose him using water in the story, it immediately made sense to me. That is his happy place in the show, but it also a danger. Thank you for coming up with this mind-blowing story and sharing it with the world. We are truly enjoying it.

In present day, Urd is "the good son". He's the one following Shikama's orders before he disappeared to be a demon, commanding the Vampires in his stead. Saito, meanwhile, is the rebel, the one who wants to find Shikama and ask questions. Why he abandoned them, why he created them in the first place. It's interesting that Saito, as Paimon, was the one that loved Shikama the most, and that caused his abandonment to hurt worse than it did for Urd, who was more hurt by Saito leaving. I wasn't completely right, but there are many things I predicted right. This chapter does paint the First as not that different from Yu and Mika. His goal was to save everyone, even the ones who died, Mikaela among them. How this changed to want to kill all the vampires to bring back Mika is unknown, maybe they need to die to be properly reborn as angels, or maybe what the Seraphs did back then changed his plans. Whether this makes Mika and Yu realize that their plan is doomed, or try and improve on Shikama's plan to save angels and humans alike remains to be seen. I feel like we're almost to the end of this flashback arc, so it will be nice to return to the present with a clear goal in our protagonist's mind (maybe even convincing Guren and co to join them now that they have context?)

The Paimon and Bael stuff is so sad, honestly didn't expect to be so invested in them, but the moments in this chapter really moved me.😭 Reading this chapter after watching s2 of Good omens was.. really interesting. :DD Shout out to gay angels. Gotta be one of my favorite genders. When it comes to Angels and romance (in ons), I think it's possible? I mean they can certainly feel platonic love, so I don't think it's impossible for them to feel romantic love. This chapter was super interesting and also heartbraking.

So if yuu represents human love, and mika represents pure love. Does that mean shinoa represents toxic love? Because in chapter 120, shinoa says "Whatever the case i will get yuichrio back, even if i have to kill mikaela to do it" that definitely gives off yandere vibes.

Seriously I hope something comes from this Yu snack break sub plot. If there is no purpose to it I would just prefer, a slightly shorter chapter without it as filler. The only thing I can think is it's kind of reminiscent to the vampires old plan. As in Yu (apparently) killed a bunch of people and stole their food to sustain himself, but in the long run he is doing it to revive everyone. And at the start the vampires were keeping humans as livestock, but we're also working towards undoing the catastrophe and reviving everyone, and finally freeing themselves from eternal life.

Holding kagami hostage until he agreed to stop killing Mika and let him live a peaceful life with yuu 😭✋
