    Welcome back! It's perfectly fine if you are not as invested as before. Characterization has changed, as you said, but I think it has more to do with the changes in circumstances rather than retcons.
    The soul switcheroo is very interesting to me, mainly because of how much it doesn't matter. It doesn't change the characters or goals, it just means that they have a secret that can be used against the First. Sika Madu's goal is to bring back Michaela and all the angels, Michaela (Angel) wants his father to be saved, meaning, to not be a Vampire anymore, which means he can't keep breaking taboos for the sake of others, so he'll do it himself with Eyeball Yu's help. Guren only wants humanity to come back, and Mika and Yuu want to save everyone. To achieve this, each faction needs the Seven Keys, and the soul of Michaela (how it will be used it's kind of a mystery yet), because whatever the "light" the angels collected was, it's able to create life and even reverse death.
    There's a quote by Stephen King: "There's an idea that hell is other people. My idea is that it might be repetition" and the reveal that Sika Madu breaking the taboos turned Earth into Hell aligns quite well with it. The characters will repeat the catalyst that made this world hell ("let me sacrifice myself for the sake of another, I'm sure nothing will go wrong"), and only by breaking the cycle Earth can truly move forward. For me, the narrative isn't pointing at "Yuu must die", but at "Yuu, Mika, and all the players need to discard the idea of self-sacrifice and want to live if we want this whole thing to end", which Yuu and Mika more or less state outright, but don't quite grasp yet.
    Well, next chapter is relatively soon, and we'll see what Yuu and Mika plan to do in the Vampire stronghold and maybe even some clue as to how they will achieve their goals, I guess... I hope...

      Thank you, glad to be back! Thank you as always for your eloquent comment, you always come to the table with great analysis!
      Ahhh right ‘saving’ Sika Madu makes so much more sense when you put it as saving him from the vampire curse/freeing him (and the angels) from hell. It makes sense that he can’t be the one to perform another resurrection with the angels, or else he’ll just be punished again, so Mika wants to do it for him. I wish they’d said it more clearly in the chapter 😂
      Yeah I agree the narrative isn’t pointing to ‘Yu must die’, as the lesson of the story seems to be about avoiding self sacrifice, but the risk is still there 😅 I’m pretty sure the third image we’re supposed to be thinking of in 131 in regards to who will pay the price for resurrection is Yu dying in Mika’s arms (Especially considering he avoided promising TWICE not to sacrifice himself, little shit). Maybe he will die, but by the power of Mika and a kiss he’ll come back too 😂
      Yes I’m looking forward to hearing Yu’s strategy next chapter! But seriously I want them to go back to that Ferid and Guren flashback and show us more about the memories they uncovered. There could be serious implications if Guren knows which soul is in which body.
      Side note- I’m actually wondering if Mika and Yu’s souls might actually be split between them in some way (supports the Yin/Yang imagery)… it seems weird to foreshadow that neither are confident which soul is in which body despite seeing those memories. Also, then neither of them could afford to sacrifice themselves because they’d both be holding a piece of Mika each!

    Tbh I think some things would've come over better in a Novel instead of an Manga, I personally would love to read Seraph of the end as a complete Novel

      THIS! 👏 Character thoughts and feelings, and lore mechanics (like the magic), could be much better explored in novel format. Like that thing about Mika turning full demon- there could have been hints easily dropped if it were written as a novel.

    I don't think I've ever felt this divided because of a chapter in a story, because on one hand it has a story element I really love, and yet at the same time this reveal is kinda making me hate it at the same time.
    So I've got two different views on the story at this point, I'm kinda like Schrödinger's Cat where I both hate and love it at the same time.
    So view one and my petty reasons for hating the story: I just want Mikaela to BE Mikaela, with no weird soul bonds/magical connections to someone else. I liked that Yuu had betrayed Guren to save Mika and now it's kind of like he did it to save his own soul (* putting a pin in this for view two), it just feels like from the readers point of view while Yuu is the protagonist Mika was the driving force of the story and I really liked that, but now Yuu is both the protagonist and driving force and Mika is his sidekick. (And I wanted Shikama to be Mika's father and now he isn't.)
    So view number two why I like the story: I really enjoy stories about memories and individuality and what makes a person a person. And in my opinion it's the memories that make a person, so it's not a matter of Yuu being Seraph Mikaela and Mika being eyeball Yuu, but four seperate characters. Yuu doesn't actually remember being Mikaela and vice versa for Mika. *When Yuu betrayed Guren to save Mika he didn't know about any weird soul switcheroo, in his and Mikas eyes he was actively betraying Guren for Mika, and that was his intention. He wasn't trying to save himself, he thought he was saving Mika. And I think in the event that either Mika or Yuu is restored with their old memories or souls they'll be different people again.
    Great video as always sorry if my ramblings didn't make any sense 😂

      Preach! Or at the very least, let him have an existential crisis/reflect on the fact that his homunculus soul was ‘made’ to protect seraph Mika. *sigh*

    Around 4:10 as the Christian fan that also loves this series. They are technically humans that were born into a world of sin. Also, I think. What was his name? Sika Midao or something. Is technically Satan. I forget where in the bible but it is stated that Satan is the god (lowercase for a reason) of this world. Satan has restrictions but he has a lot of freedom to mess with this world. Never heard of Satan creating humans sure but Sika is acting like a god of this world. As for what the humans are. They are at least in my head cannon Nephilim. Those creatures were born from female humans and male angels. When the females birthed babies those babies where Nephilim. Though in the bible the Nephilim were giant creatures. We know Kagami takes biblical lore in most of his series as inspiration. So not everything is 1-1 scale,.

    (I still haven't watch the video cause I am studying but I just want to put some of my thoughts) If you look at it in a way, Mika is still angel Mika, he just made an extra step and became an another creature that exist in sote universe, a homunculus- (Mika is everything joke can still exist💀)
    Also we still have no idea how angel Mika died. Did he died from the illness or something else. I mean he is alive after the whole soul switching thingy. And hear me out but the first's child (basically Yuu) is a new character because all we saw everytime as angel Mikalae have been Mika. Right now we saw the death of a seemly new character and the reason for the First doing stuff they're doing. But we still have no idea how angel Mika come to as a corpse in ancient Greece again.
    Also feel like I skip a chapter but why are they trying to revive Angel Mika again? Angel Mika corpse didn't seem to exist anymore so if we revive A.M then we need Yuu soul to go inside our Mika right. Wouldn't that mean Mika will die? Also why does homunculus Yuu have a soul? Is it because he was named? but I don't think having a heart and a soul is the same thing.
    And you are right about demon Mika cause I was so confused when I first read it. How the heck did he become a demon king if he was not even a full demon to begin with. My boy Mika is never anything full. Half human. Half seraph. Half homunculus. Half vampire. And now half demon💀
    With every current chapter, the existence of Mika himself become so confusing like I love you and all but WHO TF ARE YOU!!?

    • @ARTEMIAZ
      @ARTEMIAZ  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Hmmmm Angel Mika killed himself right, with the knife? He did it because he thought he would be a burden to his father (because he’s not ‘meant’ to exist)… But then his soul stayed attached to the planet/his corpse, until it went inside little child Yu.
      After the switch, I’m guessing eye Yu transported Mika’s coffin (with his corpse now containing Yu’s soul) to Ancient Greece, but that entire Ancient Greece arc is now really strange to me. 😅
      Resurrection of Mika- the First wanted to bring back his son because he loves him first and foremost, and also he said he couldn’t access the 7 lights (keys) stored inside Mika to bring back the other angels without reviving him first (bringing back the angels requires all 7 keys). Mika and Yu want to save everyone including angel Mika. Guren doesn’t want to save angel Mika and wants to bring back humanity only (requires all 7 keys) .
      I personally think homunculus Yu did develop a soul
      because Mika named him, but that’s my personal interpretation at this point 🤷‍♀️
      Haha, yes the line about Mika transforming into a full demon came out of nowhere! 😭 you’re so right that he’s always half/half! Never noticed that before lol.
      Thank you for commenting~

      @@ARTEMIAZ Oh I mean after the soul switching, I called them like that in my head so I forgot to differentiate them. (Before the soul switching I called Angel Mika, the First's son and after that just Angel Mika.) After the soul switching, Mika was alive and even talking so why did he became a corpse in ancient Greece. And i am pretty sure the illness Angel died from make their wings black but Mika's wings seem white so maybe he died from something🤔
      I feel like something might have happen between ancient Greece and current chapter. They are like so far apart for there not to be anything important.

    • @ARTEMIAZ
      @ARTEMIAZ  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Haha I’m glad to be back! I wasn’t shocked tbh. 😅 I’d mused about their connection before (see my reflection video to 113) where I’d talked about ancient Mika and Yu possibly making a pact which tethered ancient Yu’s soul to his body every time he dies. I didn’t consider a soul /swap/ but I’ve definitely been thinking along the lines of them sharing souls/power in some way for a while! 👍😁

      @@ARTEMIAZ so I have a question: if Yu and Mika somehow get themselves killed, will their memories get wiped out as a result or do the memories stay the same? Also I’m really scared about child Yuu and Mika’s fate at the hands of Guren and Ferid. Also I wanna see if the squad (Mitsuba, Yoichi, Kimizuki and Shinoa) are gonna come back. Also it’s great having you back!!!
      I love your reactions and analysis. They are always so funny to watch😄

    God everything is so confusing😢😢Mika is Yui and Yui is Mika, so since our Mika is Yui (gamungul) if Mika’s plan fails, then they will both die right? and none of them will survive, right?

    • @ARTEMIAZ
      @ARTEMIAZ  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Yes it really is so confusing! I’m not convinced there really is a ‘plan’ yet 😂 All we have is a statement of intent- they need to get the 7 keys and somehow bring back both angels and humanity. I hope we actually get to hear The Plan next chapter!!
