Here is my reaction to #owarinoseraph #seraphoftheend chapter 116!
In which Yu's sanity reaches new lows and he can no longer form coherent sentences, Kagami-sensei indulges in his favourite pastime of torturing innocent children, and we learn that Ashera was (indirectly) the one responsible for turning Krul into a vampire.
Still waiting on the #mikayuu apocalypse, but we gotta have faith, faith, faith...

Maybe Ashera's saying that because he's made that same decision (saving someone who doesn't need/want to be saved) which would explain the timing of the flashback. Like, Krul was dying in peace in her brothers arms but Ashera brought her back to a hell because of his selfish desire, and now Yuu is basically doing the same thing?
That does make a lot more sense, thank you! So instead of Ashera’s literal words ‘this isn’t what you want’ the meaning might be closer to something like: ‘stop, you’re making a mistake, and you’ll regret it like I did’ .
I was really hoping that this chapter will be a fight scene or continued confrontation but the backstory was interesting nonetheless. Regarding when Ashera said “This isn’t what you truly want” And then the cut to the flashback, I think he is trying to save Yuu from making the same irrational decision that Ashera did near the end of this chapter. With the last few panels having Krul screaming near the end, (though turning vampires seems painful) it seemed like Krul just wanted to pass peacefully and is in pain from hearing her brother forcing her to live forever when she had the chance to just pass. Also at 6:27 yeah, I recognize that as well haha. Though I’m also sure Elizabeth was born in Hungary and lived later down in time but it was cool to see that detail. Anyways, I look forward to your reflection and now...another long wait for chapter 117. 😫
Thank you for your comment and your input on that mysterious line ☺️ I think I took it literally because Ashera previously accused Yu of lying about what his deepest desire is- but you’re right it’s most likely a line to parallel Ashera regretting his own mistake in bringing back Krul against her own wishes. We can see that Krul in present-day regrets being brought back, based on her previous statements that immortality is awful and that she wants to die, so I agree with you- it seems like in this chapter she would have preferred death 😢
At least she doesn’t seem to resent Ashera for his choice, and they also seemed to have a period of brief happiness when they all lived together with Shikama Doji, before Ashera became cursed gear 🤔
Yes, they’d have to use some artistic license in terms of geography if they wanted to make Krul/Ashera and Ferid actual descendants of their historical namesakes in-universe lol. I think it’s most likely Kagami just used Elizabeth as inspiration in this chapter and that’s why her name isn’t mentioned- now l hope for the day we get a shout out to Vlad the Impaler 😁

I think that maybe when he says that it isn't what yuu really wants it could be because he wants Mika to be happy, and they both (mika and ashera) know that mika will just suffer even more if he stays alive....
So i think that maybe he means that he knows that Mika would be happier if he just sacrifices himself.

Thank you do commenting! Yes, I think I took the line too literally (because Ashera has accused Yu before of lying about his true desires); I think you’re right that this time Ashera was warning that Yu’s desires are a mistake, not that he’s lying about how he’s feeling.
This felt like a very short chapter but I really enjoyed it, I love all the Ancient Greece flashbacks. Particularly liked the parallel of Ashera bringing Krul into 'hell' now immortal and Yu choosing Mika who would presumably be resurrected as a seraph(? or whatever species he actually is) cursing Mika in the same way Ashera cursed his sister.
Also I'm getting really curious about why Shikama wants to bring his son back, I mean he tells Ashera that immortality is a curse and that Krul is now at peace, you'd think he'd want his son to be at peace too and not in 'hell' maybe it's that he wants to see his son again just like how Ashera wants to see his sister. Also kinda got the impression that Shikama wanted to die since he describes immortality as torturous, maybe Mika and Yu' purpose is to kill him but as you say one should not question the Great Plan of Bullshit
I enjoyed it too even though I moaned that it didn’t really move the plot forward 😅, it’s always fun to see an Ashera focussed chapter. I’m glad that I’m not the only one who felt it was short!
There’s also parallels with Guren choosing to revive his squad and thereby cursing them, the same way Ashera cursed Krul here, even though Ashera and Guren are working on opposing sides. It shows that humans and vampires at their core are still motivated by love just the same.
You make good points/questions about Shikama’s motivations… perhaps he does recognise that he would be bringing Mika back into ‘hell’, but like you say he just can’t stop himself because he loves his precious child that much. Mika is kind of like his Achilles heel 🤔
I definitely agree that Shikama is ready and willing to die based on earlier chapters- I can see a heroic sacrifice happening where Shikama gives his life to restore Mika.

I'm glad that Ashera is back. Its so sad how Krul became a vampire. Yu has gone crazy and unstable.
Yes I felt so sorry for Krul in this chapter! I’m really afraid for Yu- I’m not sure how much of this he can take 😬
Great Video 😄, I wasn't expecting for the Tepes sibling's flashback I knew that it was gonna happen but it came earlier than expected for me. Yes this chapter was sad Ashera wanted to save Krul even though he knew that Krul's life was gonna become a hell. Its very sad to see how Ashera was desperate to know if Krul was alive just like how Yu wanted to know if Mika was alive or not 😥. Also I think Ashera meant by saying "This isn't what you truly want" did he mean that Yu does not want to have a conflict with anyone and has no choice but to still have it.I thought that we would get to know what Yu was gonna do next but Oh well. Now it look's like Ashera gotta make a choice all by himself without the help of Shikama Doji whatever choice Ashera is gonna make is gonna effect the plot for next chapter he need's to make a decision soon! I hope that Ashera help's Yu save Mika just like how he saved his sister Krul but at the same time he does not want Yu to go berserk again but this is not the time for Yu to remain calm Guren, Shinoa squad and even Ferid and Krul are ready to restrain Yu and sacrifice Mika right now 😢, I do not know what Krul is thinking but I think she wants ashera back and we can still see that Ashera is still trapped and wont be released until he makes a choice without the help of Shikama Doji it look's like Ashera is having trust issues since Shikama Doji is trapped in the prison and is not replying him back. 😅
I hope that we get to see what Yu will do in the next chapter but at the same time I should keep my expectations low just like how I wasn't expecting for the Tepes Sibling's flasback this time and we did not get an response from Ashera about Yu's questions and the fact that ashera looked super annoyed at Yu for trapping him in one area with those lightning looking things. I cant wait for the next chapter! and always remember that one quote "Always Expect The Unexpected". 😄
This time we got Ashera and Krul's backstory what if in the next chapter Noya appear's and we get Noya's backstory?! 🤣
I wish if there is any backstory for next chapters it will be shikama yuu and angle mika i just fking want to know what happend to shikama and angle mika also how shikama made a vessel from human mika and this seraph thing in yuu seems to be from millennia ago so thats why his parents call him demon? Also in vampire mikaela light novel it seems like mika was already a vessle for the angle so thats why his mother said he is a special child and he carry mikaela's name if its true then what is all about hyakuya sect experiment did they actually do anything important?

@@whateveryouwanttocallme3371 Yes we definitely need a flashback of Shikama Doji and Angel Mikaela and how it all started, So we should still wait for months or even next year until we get their flashback. This is a monthly manga which everyone obviously know's so we have to wait for a few more months until we get their backstory, Seriously it would be very very interesting to know how it all started. And as for the Vampire Mikaela Light Novel I did not read it so i don't know much about it, I just know some things about the Novel, So I'm very sorry because I don't have an answer to that question. 😅

Expect the unexpected indeed! That’s the best way to approach OnS! 😁 I wasn’t expecting a flashback either, I was also thinking that Yu and Ashera’s conversation would continue, but I did enjoy the chapter. We as readers need to understand Ashera’s motives/ considerations when deciding whether or not he will help Yu.
I do think Ashera will ultimately help Yu because, plot-development wise, I can’t see how else Yu can get out of the situation that he’s in 😬
Maybe Krul might also help Ashera and turn against Guren if Ashera gives Yu power?
I’m so curious how Mika is going to react to all of this chaos if Ashera does decide to help Yu… bearing in mind that Mika doesn’t want to be saved 😬 maybe we’ll get an Ashera v Mika rematch? I’m hoping though that when Ashera realises that Yu’s other demon is Mika himself (I don’t think Ashera knows that yet, as he doesn’t call Mika by name at all in this chapter), he’ll convince Mika to fight for his survival and decide to help Yu. Ashera’s goal will probably be to still deliver Mika to Shikama, after all 🤔
I really hope in 117 we get Ashera making his decision- but alternatively, I’ll be happy with a Shikama backstory reveal, I need his origins explained so badly 😭 How did original Mika get killed, who exactly cursed Shikama and why (I’m assuming it’s god but it’s not confirmed). I have a feeling we will need to wait a few more months though before we get that information on Shikama… still, we can hope!

Their sibling love is beautiful had me emotional, Could feel Asuramaru's pain! Love the Ferid Bathory idea was really interesting!
Thank you for the comment! I always enjoy Ashera- centric chapters, and I’m glad we saw more of his relationship with Krul here. I love that they are both working so hard to reunite with each other, even if they’re going about it in different ways 🤔
I also felt like this chapter was really "fast", but I'm happy, that we now know, how Krul became a Vampire. What I hope for the next Chapters is, that we also get to know more about Lest and Noya. Since these two were also on the cover page(?) of chapter 115 and now, that we have seen a bit of Ashura and Krul, maybe, these two will also get explained
Yes I hope we get to see more of Lest and Noya too! Noya especially for me, I find his twisted personality really interesting, and the fact he ended up on Guren’s side, essentially working against the First whereas he was originally part of the First’s Plan… so many questions still unanswered!
2:40 I think it means Yu doesn't want to do it in THIS WAY. He doesn't want to hurt everyone or Mika in any way, but this extreme chance is one of his Only chances for Mika and him.
I really like the wispy, fiery affect of the mind space around Ashera. So pretty ^^
This chapter(the flashback) is like 2-3 scenes/events. Really makes me remember how OnS really is like, the scene-by-scene of a long story. So that being released monthly weigh on us, likely not that it's badly written haha.
I hear there's a American comic term for that too so.. the whole world experiences this huh _sigh_
Also off topic, I've recently wondered whether we'd get Yu in a similar situation to Mika in his Dream, where he's getting what he really wants (in an illusion?) than Demon coming to make him fulfill his worse fear that's associated with his greatest desire. (what if HE'S killing Mika and their kids? 😱) Now, Ashera words made me think of that as well, where this reaction is the other side of the coin with Yu fears, and hope we'll see that soon.. 🤔

Yeah I agree, I didn’t feel like it was a bad chapter at all, I think it just felt shorter than usual because there wasn’t much that was new 🤔 It was just plugging the gaps in the existing plot and fleshing out Ashera’s motivations, which makes sense as Ashera needs to decide whether or not he will help Yu and we as readers need to understand his motives.
I predict that he will help Yu, purely because otherwise I don’t see how the plot will move forward.
Ooo your prediction is interesting- I think we will definitely get some more Yu mental torture scenes. I’d really love to see Ashera and Mika both showing Yu competing visions, helping him to work through his issues. Ashera would probably play the ‘bad’ demon and Mika the good, like good-cop bad-cop. 😁

I think the biggest pacing problem in OnS is the monthly release. Like, this chapter would be a welcome breather after the last three were all heavy revelations and Yuu turning on the squad, but because it's been happening over 4 months, we just want the story to progress already.
On the chapter itself, I find Shikama's promise interesting. What does it mean to "save" Krul? If saving her means her being able to die, then it doesn't matter if Mikaela or humanity is revived, Asuramaru will "save" her either way. I'm still not on board with the revive humanity plan, because in the end, it's the same Ashera did with Krul, making the dead, who are at peace, live again for the sake of others, not their own, so this chapter at least gives us an interesting parallel to both Yuu and Guren's "revive someone to make myself feel better" schemes.
Thanks for commenting! Yes the pacing is always an issue with OnS 😅 I did enjoy this chapter, I just wish we could have had new stuff sprinkled in with the flashback.
I saw some people saying that it 116 is an end of volume chapter though, so it’s designed to leave the story in a neat place, before we get more heavy chapters to kick off the next volume.
Yeah I’m also really curious how Shikama is planning to ‘save’ Krul- it sounds like it’s different to Guren’s plan simply for the vampires to be able to die, otherwise there was no point in Ashera’s turning her into a vampire only for her to then be killed 🤔
There are still so many questions! For me, I’m burning to hear Shikama’s backstory at this point. It’s driving me crazy 😝

It would be very cool if there was a confirmed canon link between Ashera and Krul to the actual historical figures… Shikama did say he needed to investigate their bloodlines. 🤔 Plus Shikama is mentioned to have ‘blue blood’ which is a royalty thing, and Vlad Tepes and Elizabeth Bathroy were of noble birth. Idk how it all fits together yet, but it’s interesting.

i loved this chapter but i'm crying and shaking and i feel so hollow idk this hurts me sm i always love to know more about krul and ashera i love it sm but this hurts me so so much like i hate this but i love it at the same time i wanne hug them so so so bad they just have to get a happy ending they just have to if they don't end up together i wil riot i mean it i wil be so so so sad but i'm so happy krul isn't angry op her brother for turning her my hart wouldn't be able to take that i love them sm ahhh poor krul why would sombody do that that picture where she was hung up made me sick to my stomach i stil loved this chapter tho it really showed ashera's lobe for his sister and i always love to see ashera's dark side its really cool i love that side of him i really wanne know what he wil do next chapter i hope krul and ashera meet soon in this time to i really want them to meet and hug

It is just me or this chapter was shorter..
I felt it was shorter too! The page numbers were the same though. I think it might have been the structure. We had the beginning scene of Yu being crazy which took up a few panels but didn’t really add anything new, and then the flashback itself had a lot of action panels rather than dialogue that also didn’t reveal any new stuff.
I think it was important though to show Ashera’s inner conflict/motivations, as he needs to decide whether or not to help Yu ☺️
