The Maliki school is all about jurisprudence (i.e. how to pray, fast, perform hajj, transactions, etc). It does not deal with aqeedah (creed). So, just because someone happens to be a Maliki in Fiqh doesn't mean he has to blind follow other Malikis in matters of creed. In fact, as the Mufti stated it is haram to blindly follow anyone in matters of belief. Every belief that a Muslim holds must be established with proofs and evidences. Even 'mutawatir' beliefs.
