    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction Před dnem

      Yes, it's been working fine. The no-go gauge is my only test for calibration and I've never had an issue. I don't know if it can be calibrated like the propress versions. I would imagine the shaft or bearings would need to be replaced, or the jaws, but besides that it shouldn't really need maintenance. Some other jaws have screws that can be undone and the jaw position changed and that is how you "calibrate" it.

    • @TOOL_TECHNICAL
      @TOOL_TECHNICAL Před dnem

      @@MyFortressConstruction I see. keep up the good work I know the actual pro press isn't really DIY level in terms of pricing but man is it tempting apart from that almost $3000 price tag not including having to buy the pex heads separately from the Copper/steel/black pipe jaws

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction Před 23 hodinami

      Yeah, so I get the propress from liquidators for about $1200 and sell them on eBay for around $2000. I'd keep my eyes on eBay for full kits or even used ones in good condition. If there's high inventory (around Christmas) then you can get better deals. Never hurts to ask for a lower price from a seller even if they don't accept offers.

      @@TOOL_TECHNICAL There's a lot to youtube and I don't know 1% of it, but I'll tell you what I think. People love to hate. Give them something to hate or make fun of and you'll get a lot of views. However, if you want to help, then make your thumbnail stand out and do a well made video with good audio and lighting. The thumbnail gets their attention, but you have to keep it. You have to become a videographer, which most of us who start like you, are not. That takes practice. Make yourself into an entertainer. Get a motto. I never have and I'm forgettable. Some guys have some slang they use that makes them famous (AvE is prominent for his verbiage). If you find a method or video layout that gets lots of views, repeat it. Use keywords, try different thumbnails (Canva and gimp are free and what I use), make the same video in a long format and short and see which one does better. Just try things out and keep on doing videos. Most people have to make 50+ videos before youtube notices them. Some, it's their first, because CZcams takes your video, throws it in front of a few people and sees if they engage, stay for a while and watch to completion. If it sees that, then it will send your videos to more people. It's why a lot of videos get 20-200 views in a short time frame, and then nothing, or one to two a week after that. It's rare for a beginner to have a hit straight off the bat, but it's possible. If you like it though, can handle stupid comments and trolls, and don't mind getting nothing from it for a bit, then just keep on going and you'll get better as you go.

    Mine was stalling like that too even after a new blade. there are 4 screws on that bottom plate that mount the motor. 3 were broken off so motor was moving inside the housing. I had to remove the broken studs, replace the 4 bolts and that solved it. there was play in the drive shaft before now its solid. I also discovered after doing this it is quieter and the batteries last way longer. I suspect this was moving around and wasting energy before they broke off and started the stalling issues.

      Then you have a break in your line somewhere. I would make sure that one line coming from the breaker is properly connected at the breaker and doesn't have plastic or corrosion creating a problem. If you confirm that the connection at the breakers are good and that you do have 120 volts on both legs of the breaker then it has to be the line and a squirrel chewed through it or something.

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction Před 26 dny

      Yes, the level of quality of most trades just keeps going down, but I find it's due to laziness just as much as ignorance so hopefully someone watches this video and thinks, "Hm, yeah, I'll watch more carefully next time." Might be a pipe dream, but I'll keep hoping. And yeah, I haven't been making too many videos, but I've always been sporadic... How has your channel been going?

    • @craftsmanconnection
      @craftsmanconnection Před 26 dny

      Technically I have 49 videos. 26 full length videos and 23 shorts. My channel was monetized in October 2022, and for the most part I have been making $135-$160 per month from Adsense. The weird slightly concerning thing lately is, I was getting 1,000 to 1,800 views every 48 hour period back in Sept 2021, and not counting shorts views. Even after a bunch more videos, it’s been 1.0K - 1.4K views every 48 hours. I have double the amounts of videos, but not double the amount of views. My guess is that there are so many other videos of similar content, that it’s just a competition for viewing eyeballs, since I’m not the only program on CZcams. I know you have around 125 videos. When we started chatting, you had 114 videos. You made that video for me, and of course I’m curious how much you’re making now. Shooting videos at the job site is pretty easy. Getting around to editing and actually doing the editing takes A LOT of time.

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction Před 25 dny

      @@craftsmanconnection Yes, so more and more I realize that CZcams doesn't care about DIY videos. At best tutorial videos will get hundreds of thousands of views over their lifetime. Now, this isn't a hard and fast rule, especially if it's a super common issue (How to change a light switch) and you just happen to make a great video about that one thing, but CZcams is driven by entertainment. That's what they know will keep people on the platform and that's what the algorithm is searching for: Engagement or a majority. So, if you want more views you have to do "viral videos", or story-telling. People will listen to a story while you carve and craft, but they won't listen to ten minutes of a how-to video on replacing a window, or if they do, they won't be coming back since that's someone looking for help, and not the majority of internet surfers. So, you can become like blacktail studio, John Malecki wood working, etc. and produce high quality story driven narratives along with your work, or you can make DIY videos that won't ever make a lot unless you have exceptional camera work and an engaging personality. I'll keep making videos that probably never make a lot. However, when I post a video about something dumb like this trim video, it will get 10x worth of views compared to other actually helpful videos, but which don't entertain. People love to hate on you, or what you're hating on in the video, or just mindlessly watch you work if it's cool enough. So, when I first started talking to you I was making about $400-$500 per month I believe, now it's down to about $300 per month. All of this income is from one video primarily. 99% of my other videos don't make hardly anything. If you see a youtuber doing the same video over and over and over, it's because they've found what the algorithm/people want, and they can reproduce it almost infinitely it seems... If you keep on going and can craft your persona and video editing into a very gripping story, while also demonstrating your skills, then you have a chance to eventually be recognized by youtube and promoted more, but doing that does take a lot of time and additional knowledge of audio and videography (unless you hire someone to take your footage and make them into a video). As someone who obviously isn't a pro and could also do with following what I'm about to advise: The first thing you can do immediately to make your videos better is to make better thumbnails. It's something I've been practicing and still haven't gotten great at, but study the science of thumbnails. The next recommendation would be to get better audio. Jobsites are terrible for audio, but even voice-overs are better than tinny, or echo-y sound. The third would be to keep things short and only show the most important parts of your videos, jumping to new things constantly (they recommend every 3 seconds) is the pinnacle of good video making. Watch Blacktail studios and pay attention to how much is voice over he does and the average clip duration. He constantly story tells. Now, I obviously don't follow these things, because they are difficult to do, but if you have the drive and time to do them, then it makes a huge difference.

    • @craftsmanconnection
      @craftsmanconnection Před 25 dny

      Videos take a lot of time to create (film, edit, voiceovers, upload, thumbnails) and I always wonder what I could have done better. Should they be shorter? Should they have less info, as I can be very wordy? How’s my editing style? Should I add music to whatever parts of my video? I like to include how much time and money something cost, or how much I charge to do these things. Partially to tell my potential clients what a project like this would cost them, and partially to share with other trades people or new trades people what I charge, so maybe they don’t undercharge and almost lose their financial behind as they’re scared to charge more. I have always wondered just how many videos would I have to make to replace my contractor income. If 26 regular videos make me $110-$160 per month, how many would I need to make $100K-$150K per year? Holy smokes Batman!

    • @craftsmanconnection
      @craftsmanconnection Před 25 dny

      By my calculations of my videos and some info from you, it would take 260 videos of my videos to make $1,100 to $1,600 per month. So if I wanted to make $10,000 per month, I would need somewhere around 2,300 videos. If I made 26 videos in 3 years, it’ll only take me about another 90 years to complete that 2,300 videos. 😂😮😢

    DeWalt essentially put a 1/2" anvil on a 3/4" drill, which makes it highly questionable that the 961 should be in the 1.2" category. I think the Milwaukee 2967 is a better choice because it is a much smaller 1/2" impact wrench and it has nearly the same power as the 961. The problem with both the 2967 and the 961 is that if you are using them at their max torque, you are going to destroy your 1/2" sockets. Also, the Milwaukee 2967 doesn't shake like Godzilla when you use it. It is under much more control when you max it out than the 961. This is a HUGE advantage for the 2967.

      Yeah, I had the 2967 and I loved it. More control and power than the original 1/2" from DeWalt. This 961 is too much for me. I just changed out all the front suspension parts on my '13 Silverado 3500 and I didn't even touch the 961. If I lived in the rust belt then maybe, but I'm good with the regular 1/2".

      @@MyFortressConstruction Yes there are two things that I highly value about the Milwaukee 2967. 1. I really like the circular LED lights that illuminate what you are working on. Because the LED lights circle the anvil, they are in the perfect position to light up what you are working on so that you can clearly see it. This is just a wonderful feature. 2. I really like how small and easy, how comfortable, it is to use. The DeWalt 961 is a true monster, but it doesn't have either of these user-friendly qualities. And really, the 2967 is a monster itself in torque power. I haven't found anything in real life that even challenges its power. And as I said previously, it's so powerful that I am hesitant to even use it to tighten anything. Even at its lowest setting, I think it is at something like 250 ft-lbs. When I work on my truck, I don't think anything on my 4-wheel drive Tacoma that requires 250 ft-lbs. of tightening torque. The 2967 will break most bolts if it can't loosen them, except for very large bolts. I can't imagine needing more power than what it provides unless you are working on commercial trucks and construction equipment like bulldozers. Even then, the 2967 would probably work 90% of the time.

    My Brother In Law, himself a contractor, and a carpenter, built his own house and he had a professional plumber friend do all the plumbing using pex. Two years after the house was completed the downstairs bathroom ceiling caved in from a leak in the wall and floor of the upstairs bathroom directly above it. It all had to be torn out and redone. Ever since then he goes around the house listening to the walls worried that there may be another leak. The next winter an outside hose spigot the pex froze and burst, even though there was a shut off valve that had been closed inside, flooding the basement on Christmas eve. He has never had a good word to say about pex ever since and I don't blame him.

      I would have loved to see the installation and what they used... I know of many, many houses plumbed with Pex-A and B and even Quest, that have been fine for decades without an issue (besides freezing). Of course copper is still probably the best (that's a whole other argument), but with prices of a 1/2" x 10' of L copper pipe at $15-$24 and 10' of Pex around $3 the prices just don't compare.

    Ive read a few of the comments and it seems some people came away from the video beleiving you're negative on Pex A. Can you clarify? Do you believe, generally speaking, that Pex A has a greater chance of leaking? (Because some seem to think thats what you basically said). I'd like to know what you think.

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction Před měsícem

      I'm trying to make the case that PEX-B is very reliable and has been a solid system for decades and, from experience, I've only come across leaks in Quest and Pex-A fittings. I've never seen a Pex-B fitting leak unless it is installed all cock-eyed like these. I don't want this video to feed the Uponor Kool aid that PEX-B is bad. Talk to any plumber or supply house though and PEX-A is the impervious system that solves all issues with Pex and never has any problems. Their favorite line to quote is: "Unlike Pex-B with a copper ring pressed down on it, PEX-A has a ring that is expanded and always trying to return to its original shape so it will always have pressure on it!" Anyways, it's false marketing by saying that the copper ring isn't going to exert more pressure down upon the pex than a plastic ring. Both are fine under normal use, but the copper is stronger. Lots of "fanboyism" due to the great marketing of Wirsbo/Uponor. I'm not saying that PEX-A is the worst system but that I prefer Pex-B for its rigidity, durability and cost. To me Pex-B is stronger, but it's also more difficult to use. I use Pex-A with pipe 1" and above, due to its soft nature, and I'd be fine with either one in my house. And again, this is my experience. It's certainly not the gospel.

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction Před měsícem

      You're not wrong, but tandem and 2 pole are terms that manufacturers use interchangeably sometimes and fundamentally they're the same if you are connecting to a system that allows a tandem to be in contact with both poles of the panel, which is one of the points of the video. If you're using a thin line/tandem breaker you need to make sure you're putting it into the right spot so that both poles are engaged. A true 2-pole breaker forces you to connect to both due to its size.
