    I started with the packout because of how complete is was. I’ve wanted to justify switching to dewalt because it’s a little cheaper. Then I see videos that show me exactly why I still buy packout. Maybe it’s because I never buy what’s new but I always watch for new releases. Awesome job in this videos of showing the slight differences in size and features! 👍🏻

      Thanks, and yeah, I was on the fence, but at the time when I entered into pack-out I couldn't find any DeWalt drawers and they had bad reviews anyways. I don't regret going into pack-out at all, though my wallet did at the time... Hopefully DeWalt will come out with some cool stuff as well. At least their drawers look a lot better.

    I'm old enough to remember when things like this was made out of metal and lasted for decades, instead of plastic that lasts a few years if you are lucky. I looked at the Dewalt boxes and they have tons of people complaining about the product breaking and failing. The milwaukee looks much more durable than the flimsy dewalt box.

      So far the DeWalt box has withstood the weight I've kept in it and not deformed much, but I'm keeping an eye on it for this summer when it will be subjected to 120⁰ inside my trailer. That's when I think the tight seal will cause issues.

    I was using the Packout system before they came out with drawers as well as the Ridgid system. Both are well made and durable but I never cared much for either, just didn't fit my usage needs well. Oh and also before the Packout dolly/cart was available. Now I'm using Husky's version, simply because they have a two drawer unit. The Husky does not compare in strength but so far it's working great. I have both drawers loaded and they open close perfect. Box bangs around in my van and is maybe a third the price of a packout or dewalt system. With all that said. I'm thinking of going with the dewalt system and using the racks in my van in place of the custom built shelving to better organize and free up a bit of space.

My trailer gets to 130° in the summer. The Milwaukee warps but doesn't really matter since it doesn't have a gasket to seal against, whereas the DeWalt needs to retain it's shape because of the tight clearances. We'll find out!

    I use the pre-made Kizan foam inserts for my toughsystem boxes as well as my Tstak system. They don't fit in the Dewalt toughsystem drawers so I had to cut them down to make them fit. But after a little cutting they fit perfect. I haven't actually put any tools in it yet, I plan on using it for finishing hand tools, measuring and the like. So far I'm very happy with the purchase. I really wanted the drawers for my toughsystem, they've been out forever for the Tstak system so it's about time. Great review. Still trying to figure out what the thing on top of the box is, just a tray for screws and things? Idk. But I'd rather have a top handle. My only complaint so far. Great video, thanks for the info, and for the hack on the toughsystem latches. Have a great day!

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction  Před rokem

      I buy the 24"x48" sheets of Kaizen foam and then trim them for the box/boxes I need them for. I find it's the most economical. And yeah, I still have a sheet of Kaizen and drawers of tools rolling around because I don't know what I want to do exactly. And the little notched spot on top of the T-system drawer is made for a typical handle to fit into since they reuse molds on their organizers. I think they just molded another part to fit into that space and allow the half-organizer clip to flip up. I'd be interested to see if someone could take the top handle off of another organizer and clip it into that space.

    I'm not sure i got this right, but, Dewalt used two different drawer slides, in a two drawer box, the top one is more positive shutting than the bottom?
    Thats just plain nonsense, if correct!
    I really like the waterproof drawers, but the upper center of the drawers seems bit flimsy to me, to maintain a tight seal over time, also there is no top
    carry handle, is just typical Dewalt design, so close to perfect, but can't resist screwing it up!
    They were real close to getting me to switch from packout, and sustainers, but it's a no go!
    Very nice review, thanks for this!

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, they made the top one have a positive catch at the full extension but not the bottom! I didn't understand it either... And I'm afraid you are correct in the center being too flimsy and they have trouble closing after sitting with even a modest amount of weight in them. I'm guessing that is why the packouts have such a large opening around the drawers, to account for deformation.

    Love your Dewaulkee stuff! Great Idea, I was wondering if I could cross fit! I have both and use both because I like some features of both! I think the Milwaukee is better built but I think it is overpriced and only get it when on sale or running specials. I can get the Dewalt drawer unit for $99 but the Packout drawers are $150 -$200, ouch! I started with Rigid and liked it then went with Dewalt 1.0. then 2.0. But one of them , I don't remember which, would not fit in my truck with the roll-n-lock, but the Rigid would. the Dewalt would not. Then the 1.0 was not backward compatible with 2.0 which really pissed me off so I started buying Milwaukee. I had to modify the Milwaukee handle to fit my truck top but it works well. I see now they make something which combines the Dewalt 1.0 and 2.0 that I may check out because I carry my 20V Dewalt in Tough boxes and 12V Milwaukee in Packout. I can do 80% of my work with the 12V and they take up much less room. I have had some of the little plastic tabs and catches break on the Dewalt stuff but also had my top on the Milwaukee bottom rolling box break. If I had to do it again I would go straight Packout! I think it is more durable overall. Great video!!

      Yeah, I got into Packout during COVID when DeWalt had phased out its gen 1 drawers and hadn't released the Gen 2. I couldn't wait any longer for Ridgid to come out with drawers so I sold 90% of my Ridgid boxes and bought Packout. I have been happy with the system but am still waiting for a 2 drawer unit that has one large bottom drawer and a small top drawer so that you could put a circular saw/bandsaw in the bottom and blades in the top. I put my circular saws into the cabinet Packout and that works, but a drawer is nicer.

      @@MyFortressConstruction Same here, I have circular in bottom roller. I wish they would come out with bottom rolling section with a drawer. It's a pain having to take everything off the rolling section to get to one thing you need in the bottom. I started using rolling base with drawer sections and the big tool box. I bought a bunch of that foam from Rockler for a good price but I don't seem to need it for the drawers. I can put more tools in it free form and pack it tight enough where they don't move around so much. They have sales right now so just ordered drawer section with big bottom and 2 smaller ones above. Even though im a dewalt boy I was debating weather to buy the packout just because the system is so rebust, although it would anger a lot of ppl being full of dewalt tools lmao.
    Love the reviews but not being an MERICA FK YA, what the hek is a 13th 16th.. Outside of USA when were forced to use the ancient britannia system of measuring we'd just go by quarter inches. I mean i get it but man that threw my brain in a loop lmao

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction  Před 5 měsíci

      Haha, yeah, I am not a fan of the imperial system either, but it's what everyone here uses. A 13/16 would be about 20.6 mm. Obviously, since I've lived with it my whole life it's pretty straightforward, but I'd learn the metric system if Britain wants to try taking us on a second time. Probably not worth it since Americans don't even call football by its appropriate name... Lol.

    I bought the drawers for my system. Going to return that. Not really needed. I can add two of the same size boxes of Packouts. And it much Much lighter. Does the same. I can just open from top even if there other boxes on them. So it not a big deal. Lot Cheaper too! Packouts are very overpriced. But they do work and it a tool so tax write off.

      It's true, drawers are optimal for someone who has to access a lot of tools at once. But if you're getting on and off with just one stack, then drawers can just be extra weight/cost.

      I know... I can't give up the flexvolt tools of DeWalt though. Milwaukee M18 high demand tools overheat in demanding applications and DeWalt's don't. Hence a DeWaukee mashup.

      @@LemonySnicket-EUC Yeah great. I have found that you need to be careful with the weight limit on the dewalt drawers because of how tight they are.
