  • Fixing my 2771-20 M18 Transfer Pump. It had water leak onto its electronics and blow the fuse. Just doesn't seem like the gasket around the impeller is sealed very well since they built into it a place for water to leak out.

I came across this video because my pump quit working on me, well once I took it apart and inspecting the pump and board, I found that my fuse wasn’t blown and was still good. What I did find was my ground circuit on the board itself was fried, where it goes through the board from the battery side of the board to the motor connections on the board. Luckily I had some spare wire and decided to solder a small piece of wire across the board on the ground contact on the underside. Voila it worked but this pump has a few weak links in it and we have identified a few for other people to check

Great, I'm glad you found your issue and shared it.

This is what I think is wrong with mine. I can jump my motor ground lead (pulled off board) to my battery ground and then it works like a champ with the switch. Can you buy a replacement board?

It sure seems like if you angle it up some, it may prevent the water from getting to the electrical board. I imagine running it after the water quits flowing, it warms up the gasket that separates the impeller from the electronics, it may wear out fast without the water keeping it cool.

Yeah, if the butt was propped up a bit that might help, but I think it would be fine just leaving it on all fours. I think I fried it by occasionally running it in a vertical position.

Sweet. Going to take mine apart and see if that’s the issue. Also- once it’s apart I’m going to see if there’s any wiggle room for a rubber seal gasket or silicone to prevent it from happening down the road.

👍 Silicone is probably a good idea. I think if you just keep it horizontal, that it should be okay. I would just run it vertically sometimes or let it sit up after using it and water drained down into the electrical.

How did you get the pin out to remove battery cover? Punch and a hammer isn’t working for me.

Hilarious, looks like something I would have done.

That's a pretty serious flaw. I have one for sump pump emergencies. I live in a valley where our sump fill constantly so if mine fails when I need it I'm screwed.

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction  Před rokem

Yeah, I think the main issue is that I would leave my in a vertical orientation sometimes and the water would drain towards the motor and electrical. So, I think you're good if you only keep it in a horizontal orientation.

I sent mine out under warranty and got a new one

That's the best way, though it usually takes a week or two, sometimes months when there's been a shortage of parts... It's always nice to get a new one in place though.

My Milwaukee M-18 transfer pump is now intermittent. The water is literally coming out in short blasts. Thoughts????

Sounds like a bad contact inside. I would disassemble it and see if you can't find some corrosion or a bad contact... sometimes just disassembling can solve the problem because you reattach everything more firmly when you put it back together.

You’re so smart!…to think of Milwaukee creating a weak link, like a fuse. Why would Milwaukee make repairs user friendly? 😂🤷🏼‍♂️ Why would they engineer the pump better with better seals or parts? Can’t imagine anyone else would go this far to repair. They’d probably just buy another pump. Milwaukee likes that idea better, I would imagine.

It's funny how many times I question the sanity of the engineers behind some products, then I remember that they're in it for the money, not the user...

@@MyFortressConstruction Imagine the loyalty the various companies would create if the consumer knew the product wouldn’t become worthless over a dumb product defect like a fuse. Take a lesson from the automotive industry @Milwaukee. Can you imagine a car/ truck becoming unusable over a fuse? 😂

@@MyFortressConstruction I finally got it to drive out. Looks like my ground circuit on the board is fried. I can jump negative motor lead to negative on battery and it works. Not sure if you can buy a replacement board or just solder a jumper wire.

@@paulpartain6319 I highly doubt they'll sell you a replacement board, because the online parts list doesn't include any internal electrical parts, only housing, impeller, etc. AvE had to fix his like what you're talking about. Compare to a lot of the cheaper models, this does not look like is going to last for even 2 years. What you paid is not what you get with american products.
