Personally I think they look good for now but I think ya might have wanted to heat them up on low power in an oven. Remove the lense cover and paint the inside! That said it looks good! Clear coat them!!! 2k clear

Those clear tail lights and turn signals were all the rage back in the early 2000s. They dont look good now. So weird how that happens.

For spraying lights like that, split the lense from the housing. A bit of heat to seperate the butyl works great. Paint the lenses on the backside. That way you don't need to worry about the paint scratching or rubbing off. Because of the clear plastic lense it will give the paint some depth. Like it has a very heavy clear coat on top. For the little extra time of seperating the lense from the housing, the final results will make it worth the time and effort. Just put on enough paint to cover the area. No extra coats. You still need the light to shine through. In this case with painted lenses, incandescent bulbs work better than LEDs. I know it sounds backwards. The regular incandescent bulb, for whatever reason, will shine through the painted lens way better than an LED. I've painted several taillights now and the results have all been the same.

Taillights came out great. In the future though it may easier to just get red tint vinyl and wrap them. My old neighbor did that on his STi that came with all silver taillights from the factory.

I hate to tell you this but welding galvanized could kill you, give you cancer, that respirator isn't helping you, if you weld galvanized you should have a fresh air hood, it's the only way to weld galvanized somewhat safely
