Casey, do you have an email address?
@CaseysCustoms what about using 2 windshields from slightly newer chevys (like a 53) where they went 1 piece, cut both long and you keep your centre join but with 2 wider pieces that surely are close to the right shape ✌️
Your awesome bro but you have some crazy fans who get butt hurt 🤣🤣🤣🇺🇸✊🏼
Only because you pathetically pleaded. Being humble counts in my book.
Ha Ha, I was like 1K. 😂
@@thatDOGbites88 I'm being honest. Thanks
@thatDOGbites88
Look for a windshield about the right width from any car/truck and integrate that window frame/windshield into your body. I have seen this done for widened MGBs using a US 60s pickup truck windshield. If it is one piece you could make a fake divider for it if that's a big part of the look you're going for.
I was just about to say almost the exact same thing , Casey listen to this guy!
I had the same idea, I think this would be a super unique thing that nobody's done on CZcams. On top of that you could measure the width that you need and then ask your viewers to post the width of their windshields and of what they're off. It would be like crowdsourcing your build. 66 c10 about 67"
I was going to say this but I'm not fast enough. Any junkyard should have something you can use
Yeah I was wondering if a tri-5 chevy windshield would have similar curves but be wide enough also.
same thought here... find another vehicle with a windshield that is "closer" and graft that in
Hey Casey, I love your 50 Chevy project. The only thought I have for your windshield delema is using two '54 windshields and cut them 4" long on oposite sides. Since they are one peice you would still have a seam in the middle. Just a thought. Keep up the awsome content. Dale.
This was my thought, a early 50’s Olds is one piece, and sits in the existing corners. Overlap in the middle, to counter the roll or crown of the glass, you could tuck the sides back a little farther than original, helping with the v-butt.
How about a donor windshield off something wide enough?? With the frame part holding the glass.(donor)
"Let's cut some shit." Has to be made into a sticker because it's borderline your catch phrase
Good call! I would totally buy a "lets cut some shit" Caseys Customs tshirt
Oooo with Pure precision and a sledge hammer on the back! 🤪🤪
He has a let's cut some shit shirt
Hi Casey. Use hard coated scratch resistant Polycarbonate for the windows. Add a ceramic coating or twoo & you're golden! Cheers. Leigh in Scotland 🏴
A 55 Pontiac hood stainless piece would look good
Measure width needed in glass
Then find glass with the length and
Curve needed from car in junkyard
Then build your frame around new glass. 60’s 70’s glass wider
I think 2 54 windshields without the splint in the middle would work for that front windshield and cut them to fit
use two front windows to make one. take one window and at the center point cut it 3inches to the left of center and then on the other cut it 3inches to the right. that will allow the window to line up and the sides and then it will allow the center of the window to be covered by the trim
Take this car down the belt Hwy like I did 30 years ago man. I doubt people still go cruising on the weekends. Nice work brotha
Cassey, for the windshields, look into R.V. Camper windshield. Class A R.V. windshields have curves in them. I think maybe a Ford Class B windshield could work if you widened the front and rear windshields. You just have to cut them down to hight and with. An 1989 Internation cab over tractor truck windshield might work too. Another idea is finding two front and rear windshields each and cut them to fit the side and use the straight pieces for the center pieces with two dividers between the curve and straight pieces. You can cut both front windshields to center. Fill the gap with clear silicon and a center devider. The rear window would have two deviders.
It really blows me away how much work you get done by yourself. Major Props🤜🤛
widen the center pillar a little and split the rest of the widening between both sides.
Ditch the factory windshield frame, since it doesn't fit at all.
Use complete custom lexon windshield. My buddy did on his 55 Chevy pickup. He thought it would yellow/fog and need replaced every 6 months but it still looked good after several years. Lexon isn't solid, so you can easily give it a slight curve. He held in place with sheet metal screws (oh he did this because a factory replacement windshield was like a thousand bucks. Actually I think it was plexiglass and only cost like under 50 bucks)
How about taking a trip to the junk yard with a tape measure... there is bound to be a 50s car with a wider screen and a similar curve. Harvest the whole area Screen and surround and make your life easier.
I said the same.
I was thinking the same thing.
Cut the windshield surround, and add 2 pillars to the outside of the center glass 1 in the middle.
Try to find a Pontiac waterfall hood trim to fill the center.
It should all line up and look mint! 👌
leave the bubble hood looks freaking awesome keep it as stock as possible would love to drive that car down to the lonestar round up one day
You do some crazy s#*t, but I love it. Your imagination is on another level. The swaps you do are great and show that nearly anything is possible. Keep up the great work!!
Everything you build is very cool but something about this car really does it for me!! It's absolutely SICK!! I don't love those wheels but everything else is just so cool!
I am definitely of the opinion of widening the windshield. You may be able to find a windshield from a car of that same era that is close to the size you need and you can try widening the frame, but shrinking the part where the window actually sits. Plus you may be able to keep that trim down the middle like it currently does. But keep up the great work man!
Those wheels actually look good on that.
Breath Cassy! Lol it's coming along great thanks for sharing with us.
And let's not forget very rarely you see a finished project. Love it❤
Casey, widen the windshield frame to fit the original A-pillar and have a new one piece curved windshield cut down from a more modern car. There are good glass people who can do this. I’m hoping this car comes out as a canyon carving monster!
If anyone is interested, the pontiac g8 was designed and built in Australia with an American engine. It is a Holden commodore SS. It is also available in a wagon and ute (pickup) ✌️
So glad you started working on this! Infinitely cooler project than the Crapmaro! Rock on Bro! 😊👍
The trunk hinges DO need to move out, because when you split the trunk lid in the middle, the hinges will spread. So when you cut the bottom outside pieces of the back window frame, include the hinges. That will make the filler piece straighter as well.
Regarding the windshield, if you got a split screen surround from a late 40’s early 50’s car that used flat glass you could widen it easily and just get two pieces of flat glass cut to fit the new dimensions. . Custom guys often do this when chopping these 49-54 GM’s , saves the hassle and expense of cutting the curved glass windshield when doing a top chop .
Man I love watching these videos gives me inspiration to build kb6 international cab. getting out of the woods piece by piece I have a frame ready for it but the cab needs alot of body work. I learn alot watching Casey's customs
Casey needs a light and lift sponsor so he doesn't have bad knees in 5 years and starts throwing knee caps instead of hammers
You'll get it figured out, you always do! That's going to be a killer build! 😎👍
Casey you should definitely just make it like a convertible cruiser would be badass get rid of the door glasses and make it all slick across the top would be awsome
Maybe do the Pontiac Chieftain Waterfall on the hood? Sort of a "feature it" approach to the hood. You're on your own with the rest of the widening
Definitely split it. The curves matching on the metal and keeping the thin pillars is gonna look way better Casey!
Casey. I salute you sir. One of the best builds I ever seen💯👍I love it. Can't wait to see it finished.
I saw on some custom car show years ago that the guy needed a custom piece of glass so he brought the original to a windshield place they found a windshield with the proper curve and was able to cut the windshield down to fit the car
Since the windshield is split down the middle anyway so what if it has 2 center posts with a flat rectangle between. I think the determining factor there is whether the center split is flat from top to bottom so the center glass is flat too.
The C-pillars being wide doesn't really matter too much.
Casey Widen the frame, get another windshield, then cut them both so each side is longer then join them in the center
i know its not the caseys customs way lol but i believe when its done it look sweet in a candy red with white roof keep up the good vids they make me happy every time u post one
The front does look good, well done.
Use the frame of the windshield to match the A pillar. Change the cowl and make it so you can put you own straight glass in it. After you chop the top it wouldn’t look out of place.
This one’s gonna be sick already coming together nicely
Widen the front windshield frame, keep the center frame for a seam. Find two windshields, cut each one to where the extra length is in the center, cover the seam with the factory trim...🤠
I knew a guy who did this with a widened s10 he built , it worked out well .
Casey, I have an Idea on how to fill the center gap in the hood and the truck. 1952 Pontiac Chieftain used either a stainless steel or chrome waterfall style accent that went down the center of the hood and truck. Which would help tie the Pontiac G8 to the outside body line.
The 2 pieces of trim could work and look really cool with the right pinstripe design on the hood
Re: widening windshield. Some of the senior GM windshields (Olds, Buick) of that body style were one piece. Maybe getting two of them, cutting both to get the needed width, them using the Chevy two piece center strip to join them would work.
Casey,,for the rear window, you should look into using the rear glass from the 55-57 chevys as i believe they are wider. Another thought is using the rear windows(three pieces) from a 57 Oldsmobile Super 88.
*You already know the answer to fitting the windshield Casey, you are going to have to section it in so it looks right and either use lexan or find another windshield that will work*
A 1950s Pontiac waterfall trim would fill that hood gap perfectly... And I vote stock windshield.
17:47 “ you said man that looks cool” you lost out on perfect moment brother
Great build Casey, it is really coming together. I would split it use a flat center and just have two skinny center posts. I think it will look cool!
That does look pretty effin cool 😎
Maybe pull the door tops in slightly at the front so they're on a slight angle meeting the windshield? Not sure is this would actually work or not though. Looking great!👍
Dam Casey I’m glad I found your channel you really do make the baddest rides on the planet.
Have you ever tried to leave the A pillars in with the original front window on the donor body and graf the old bodies to the newer front glass it would be less work i would think. Just use the part of the A pillar on the 50s car that the door seals to and graft it to the A pillar to the newer car just cut the door seal out of it and just cover the top to the shape you need.
I’ve seen it done and I’ve never liked how it looks. Makes it look like an “old car body kit” to me. But that’s just my opinion
For the windshield get another window frame for the door pillars then use a standard window frame and make fill in panels on the side
Got damn do I love chassis swaps.
Love how this one's coming together man
You should make the hood open like a shell, like how it is in the vid!
For the windshield, try and get 2, one piece windshields for the 1st year they switched on that model, and cut one end off each one. One left and one right. Leave them long of corse.
Don’t pancake the hood ✋❌, it looks 👀 great how it is and wide the windshield ✅
Yea Casey, Dam You & Brent From Halfass Custom Do Amazing Car Art!! GREAT WORK Buddy!!🤗
The 50 oldsmobile had a one piece windshield , with 2 windshield cut wider than the stock Chevy , you 'll end up with a stock 2 pieces looking windshield ! Good luck ! Jo
Embrace the weird - cut the windshield in half, and fill the center section with stained glass (find a local artist to make a cool piece for it).
Consider a modern windshield that is similar in height and width & build a frame for that! It's gonna be so much easier!
Cut the glass at both ends just past the curve and put a huge middme piece in. Still a 3 piece but 2 small ends and 1 big one in the middle.
Another awesome Video!!!
Loving your channel bro!
i love this one.....i can see the potential in this car built on a rebadged aussie muscle car......I was getting bored with the floppy framed rust-bucket camaro.....thanks Casey
I would love to see you search for a windshield that is quite close to the dimensions you need and work with that. The back will be perfect as per your plan. I wouldn't chop the top. She looks gorgeous from the side.
It's awesome Casey!
Awesome!
Hell yeah my brother 🔥 🙌
I’d cut the windshield surround in 3 pieces . I make a 2” strip in the center so you can stay with a 2 piece windshield.
Casey man, what a great looking build!
For the windshield, how bout walking a junkyard and try to find another car that is similar but wider and cut the whole frame out like you did with this one... car is looking real good and is going to be fast af when done
love the videos Casey!
LOVING this car !! needs airbags to lay that ass in the grass..maybe some sparks when u slam it !! ur crazy choppin the top- cant wait to learn how ! 😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
On the windshield take the center piece out before you widen it up and then put it back in the center when you get it widen up
Looking Good! Glad to hear you are going to chop it.
This ones coming together fast! Killer job Casey
cool video, maybe another windshield cut out of a car from the scrap yard?
Looking great 👍
I was wondering when you'd finally get back to working on this thing it's a cool build
Amazing work, you motivated me to build my dream truck from scratch!
Make a 3 piece window and it will look like the corvega V8 from fallout.
Also if you chop it down the middle all the line will line up again
Get a windshield and perimeter metal frame from another late model wider car and put it in. Use the post metal from the stock roof and merge the sides as needed.
It's looking really good
Coming together nicely
Firstly mate, love your work and keep it up. Secondly why not make it a split screen like a combi, get 2 stock windshields and cut them to size and use a thin strip of chrome to cover the joint.
This build is dope. The stance is clean
Looking good👍🏾👏🏾
Taking shape casey great job looking forward to more content
so glad you're going to chop it!
This is a wild build and I am enjoying watching it come together.
Great video
Get it done brother. Thanks for sharing
-Spanky
If you can get two windshields, cut each a bit longer than half way. You'll have glass that fit.
Windshield repair resin would make a three piece windshield look like one whole piece. But you’d notice it from the interior
