I've t wanted to try tissu culture but thought it was too expensive and complex. Because of your videos I am neglecting my entire familly to get a jump start on my tissu culture adventures! lol

Working in a bio lab was interesting, but also mildly depressing. We wasted so many pipette tips and microscope slides. Even though they're reusable and able to be cleaned, it was against policy to do anything with them exept to throw them out. I wish executives were less wasteful, but most of them don't care unless it hurts their bottom line: profit.

Have you tried venus fly traps ? And how's the glowing petunias doing ?

Perfectly said. I'm currently working on tomato culture tissue through callus for my university. Have you ever tried callogennesis from foliar discs or in case you are not it would be very helpfull to see you doing it. 😃

With an instapot u adjust the time based on the lower pressure. When i started in mycology i would adjust at 1:1.7 now im almost 6 years beyond all that and using the proper equipment. Lol

Do you sterilize the growing medium ( soak the perlite+stratum in fungicide or hydrogen peroxide etc?)

I am now totally invested in tissue culture. Please stand by while I go purchase all the necessary items and lose myself down a rabbit hole that will rival the one I fell down after I thought, “I wonder how hard it is to use a spinning wheel?”

have you considered using splashless bleach?

Yea while watching the first half of the video I was wondering how do you sterilize a plant that grows in open air, bleach doesn't sterilize it cant kill bacterial spores.

I have to say this is the video that woke me up to this❤. I'd seen so many tissue culture videos on FUNGI, not with plants, at least by how I was searching. My first experience with it was really at Disney World, the place known as pleasure island, had some really cool stores and they sold sequoia trees in testtubes. and of course they were adorably tiny in there and I wanted to buy one, but I was afraid I'd kill it as I didn't know sooo much at 15 years. I think you're channel is a gem and your vocal delivery has a jovial personality that brings an inner child to life within me as I watch and learn from you. When you do the replicating step. How long can a plant stay in there before you are forced to do something with it?? Just wondering how often work needs to be done while rotating a catalog of plants over long period of time.

Do you find those polypropylene pots crumple in the autoclave ? The company selling them advises against sterilising with the media in them

When I first learned how to do this I had the biggest nerdiest smile on my face thinking about how I could use this method. I don’t have the equipment since it was the companies equipment and I wasn’t really looking because of how expensive it typically is for their methods. Though seeing your video makes me want to get back into it and buy the stuff for my own garden.
