- 2024 Update: Lol watching this back a year later I think it's so funny that I was showing horribly contaminated cultures and saying "this will be ready in a month!" Whoops
I'm not sure if DIY is the correct word but this is what I'm working with currently! More tissue culture videos coming soon. Please like and subscribe!

Wow, beautiful lab and this video has inspired me! 38K subs is underrated!
I'm jealous of how organized you are
Once you learn this type of work/hobby you become a neat/clean person or you fail.
Oh my god. I am so intrigued. I don’t know how I got here.
Thanks for adding a leaf to the tree of knowledge. I love your videos. I'm also passionate about plants and hope to turn it into a profitable hobby.
Nice set-up. Thanks for sharing.
Very, very nice. I am really impressed buy this, as a Hobbychemist. 🙏There are endless options, I am sure. You will make your thing, and you already found your way, I think. ❤Totally cool, I will wait for more to come and am sure you will teach me a lot.
I hope this is the future of science - Away from the Lobby, and back to the people! - Power to the people!
Great video, terrific channel! Really impressive that you learned this on your own without any formal education. You are much more advanced than when I started doing plant tissue culture. Looking forward to more videos 👍
Thank you! It has been challenging learning about tissue culture since there aren't many resources available
Great Chanel indeed. I am encouraged to do so. Your help would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Just fyi any pH meter worth its weight will require careful maintenance including keeping the electrode wet (ideally in electrode storage solution). Calibrate once a day if you use the pH meter daily. Otherwise, calibrate at the beginning of any day you use the meter. Always keep 2 to 3 reference solutions of known, but varying pH's to validate your readings. pH measurement is notoriously difficult to get accurate so meticulous care is advised! Great video btw!
Something that happens often with violets. Harmony "Lilian in Lace" is just "Lilian in Lace". It is grown by Harmony but was not hybridized or named by them. This is a common misunderstanding. It happens a lot with growers who sell their own hybrids and sell others hybrids also. It doesn't matter when in your collection, but if you are going to sell or show them it will be important to have the correct name. If in doubt you can look it up in first class the AVSA registration program. It really gets confusing when there is a variety that is hypothetically "harmony sunshine" and another variety that is just "sunshine". Something like that has happened in the past.
Thanks for the tour!
Also, I saw a video on meristem culture and using it to remove viral pathogens. Might be an interesting series if you still have your VB INSV violets.
Great stuff and very addictive content. Thanks
Could you do a 2 month timelapse plzzz n thanking you
love it 🙌
Oh, yeah, I have to put some type of solution in the cap before putting the pH meter back so that it doesn’t lose calibration
Have you ever seen the clear plastic wire rack covers? Balancing jars on those shelves drives me nuts, the covers make them likable. Love the channel 🌱
Awesome i got lab rolm like you, but im sowing orchid and making some news hybrids, and waoo!! You're very organized i want to be more like you 😅😅😅.
That’s awesome. I have never tried hybridizing orchids but I have some cattleyas flowering, so maybe I’ll give it a go!
amazing!!! Where can I buy those screw top jars?
Just found your channel, great content! Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Impressive ❤
How do you store the unused container with agar media? Also, is it safe to use the pressure cooker for cooking food after autoclaving the media?
you should go to those plant preservation greenery and if allowed, take some sampels there. maybe they would be interrested in also get some in return..
hey there, I know im late to the party, but could you do a video on google scholar and ResearchGate and walk us through how you find your protocols for specific plants? and how to understand them?
Have you learned by yourself about tissue culture?
Yes, I learned from watching youtube videos and reading books about it!
@@plantsinjars cool 😎👌
What labels did you buy? Those are the perfect size.
Where did you buy your flow hood? Your set up is awesome.
Thanks! It is from a company called Air Science. They actually get manufactured in Florida :) If you want help getting in touch with them, email me at plantsinjars@outlook.com and I can help!
In one of your videos you mentioned that you found some jelly containers that had pp lids. Most of what I have been able to find have pp bottoms but pte lids. Can you tell me where you got your small containers and if they are working out for you.
What width is that flow hood? Also do you know who made that table? I keep finding ones with no rear edge like yours? I really want that back edge / wall so things dont fall off the back.
Can you put seeds in tissue culture?
Congratulations for your channel, I been learning a lot but I still have a few questions. I was wondering if you could you tell me which type of light you use to acclimate your plants.
As I saw that you were using a light meter, what would be a normal range for acclimatating philodendron/monstera plants? Do you have the same intensities from day 1?
Many thanks
The protocol will usually tell you how much light to give the tissue culture plants for each individual stage. Usually it's around 3,000 lux for a 16 hour photoperiod, although it depends on the plant. My lights are T5 fluorescent lights that I bought from Amazon.
Hi you are amazing, love from India,DP here
Never even heard of tissue cultures for plants before
Could you buy some grapes from walmart and tissue culture the stem they come on in a video?
Can we get a video of the progress of one specific jar. People want to see it go from one to a few to many, ya know. Like a time lapse or something. Week one week two week three… 👍
If you tissue culture yourself, will you be able to get more work done in a day? :P
Very Cool.
Looks like you propagate plants in perlite, that would be an interesting video to see
Seems pretty expensive to start all this up... how much would you say you spent on your set up?
Probably a few thousand but I have a video coming out soon on how to get started at home for under $200!
i really like the jars you have your cultures growing in. would you mind sharing where you got them? :)
i’d also love a philodendron culture recipe video if you’d think about making one :)
I have a very important question. How is your electricity bill?
Where'd you order the air science flow hood?! And how did they ship it?? Freight? UPS?
Please help!
From their website! They have online ordering :)
Hello just wanna ask if you study or finish a biology or horticulture course before working on this hobby or field.. it has been my dream of doing things like yours...but i ended up in another course/ field.. but now not getting satisfied with my field, i want a career change and want to pursue this tissue culture field..hope i am not late..😊
Can you make a video about transferring cultures for rooting?
I have a vid about this on my channel :) I'm planning to remake that video soonish with new info though
Holy Cow!
You got your own lab? Damn!!
If you were just 12 years older, I'd actually be delusional enough to know on your door! 😂😁
can u make a video show how to make synthetic seeds
I'm not familiar with the process but I'll check it out to see if it would be feasible to do at home
Love, where did you get your jars and lids from?
Phytotech
@@plantsinjars Thanks
Aquatic plants
Hello
Where did you get the 240 ish ml jars in this video? Ill look again on the site but maybe im retarded and cant find them out of his 34 items listed .
Phytotech
@@plantsinjars thanks for the fast response. Muchos Gracias, senorita
damn girl you cant drop the ph meter like that, it can break and become inaccurate.. they are very sensitive to bumps
Have you attempted to culture Cypripediums or other native terrestrial orchids? Slow down. Talking too fast. But a nice presentation!
