So I woke up to an unfortunate sight this morning. Some predator seems to have attacked my chicken through the chicken tunnel. I suspect it was either a racoon or a possum. ⇒ Follow Me: TikTok: vm.tiktok.com/3k5T93/ Facebook: ThinkOutsideTheContainer Instagram: thinkoutsidethecontainer #ShippingContainerHome #ShippingContainerDIY

You could also use a very thick fluffy paint roller. The thicker the more shaggy rollers hold more paint and fill more crevices.
You’re supposed to mix dawn in with the drywall compound. You can skim coat the wall and it will look amazing. Most high end builders will skim the entire wall. It makes it all look smooth and even.
Level 4...level 5...yeah, lot of work lol
It should be a seperate house.
Consider building a aframe roof over everything and if using two or more containers leave large space in between to your liking containers will be your outer walls
Very nice build. I just wonder if a deck is in your plans sometime?
spray some rubber paint at the buttom so it won't rust
if u need some more content, you can GLADLY come build mine!! I want to do this, because I'm getting a divorce and need something QUICK and not 3000$ rent.
good idea you should weld 1/8 inch steel flang and use 1/4 to 3/8 bolts and bolt is on there no way the little wire will hole under and strong winds all you have is big wheel metal fly all over !!!!!
Hurricane proof
What can you please help me with mine thank you
Did you ever use a plasma cutter? I use an angle grinder with a thin zip disk and I feel that it works pretty good and leaves a precise cut and is fairly fast. I have used plasma cutters on other types of metal and it seems to be Hot and leaves edges that needs to be cleaned up. And you would still have to grind the welds on the top in the bottom with a plasma cutter. Grinding those welds is a lot of work. I agree, but you can just leave those bottom wells on and run your floor over them. Interested to know if you were able to compare how a plasma cutter worked versus a zip disk?
For an extra $4500 US you could’ve had brand new one trip containers? I think that’s the biggest mistake for anybody building with Containers if you’re gonna put time, effort and money into a container don’t start with a used industry container. Just buy a new one tripper. Even after 20 years, a new one trip, Container will never look like a used industry Container, maybe the paint will be faded, but that’s it.
What was the point of raising it that high and did you do anything special to prevent weeds from coming through under it? Im thinking it’s got something to do with snow or keeping it warm
That’s awesome!! I have a 16x16 garage which I’ve kind of converted into an office with garage doors. I’d like to grab two 20 footers, put them side by side in the spot where the garage is and build that out from scratch. In Rhode Island does anyone know if this sort of project would be an entire pain in the n**s considering the state/local government and how insane they are in this state?
I’m from the UK where land prices (with any chance of building on) are crazy. When you buy land in America, do you automatically have the right to build and live on it? What are land prices like at the moment in the states?
Well explained I really appreciate your time and care🙏🙏🙏
super helpful - you did a great job
Awesome job! 👌
Get you another container just for storage and you're in there Captain! lol
Real good info. I own a double door one trip container for car parts. Love my Makita 6" cutoff tool. It's not a grinder and has a proper paddle safety switch. I'd agree even a harbor freight plasma cutter would have been helpful.
This IS Amazing. I love this! I look forward to seeing your journey
Hot and cold , expansion is usually what kills silcone.
You’re amazing. So clever. Thank you 🙏🏽
I'm glad to see how he used three shipping containers, and let us know the cost and expense up front, I wonder if the containers were ⚓️ anchored down on the large concrete/cement pillars that all three containers are setting on, also are all three containers bolted together as it looks Picture Perfect ?
What was the cost to make these piles.
You shari g openly and in detail tells you are a generous man. Thank you for sharing. Do encourage undecided coward like me to take the dive
I wanna live there
for the deck over the septic system. there is no reason you couldnt weld small ibeams under the existing containers to cantilever the deck on that side. the rest of the deck can be using the posts like you planned.. i suspectyou will need to do similar and weld ibeams for the upper floor deck
bro you got a deal on that land!!!!
😮😮😮❤
FibaTape is better than paper tape. It is a mesh and holds great
Good luck against Alex Pereira tomorrow night.
Great ideas 💡
How did you join the containers at the roof and outer walls to ensure no leaks?
Sorry to say, but that’s ghetto.
As an old builder, I think your biggest mistake is not installing flashing s around the windows before installing them.
Mate, from an old Aussie builder, well done! You can't even buy 450 square meters of land for that in Australia!
When did you buy the land for it to cost so little? I'm looking at land in 2024 and the cheapest I can find is $120,000 for 1/3rd of a residential block.
I bought it in 2019. By summer 2020 the price of land in my area had at least doubled. Now it's like 4 or 5 times as much
I honestly have so much respect for people who do stuff like this. 1) its so much more efficient to build these and own them 2) it puts videos and shows proof to those who would make the decisions to streamline these type of builds. 3) it gives me motivation to possibly just try doing this myself and also love the facts and money breakdowns as thats the number one info i look for on these videos
Great video showing mistakes to learn from, thanks. Do you have videos dealing with the foundation?
Hi, I learned a lot about your concept of building a second floor. As you were explaining, I was wondering, wouldn't it be easier to just build another ground level and not complicate things? In theory, everything makes sense for what you are thinking, but it may end up being way over budget. If you have a big enough lot, it would be easier to just make a side by side structure making a deck in between both to unite them. Maybe building a see thru hallway thst would connect one structure with the other. As far as privacy, you can make windows up high to bring in light and you will not have to worry about privacy. It would be cost effective to build it this way since you learned from previous construction and if you have to have a deck on top, you can always build on top of the roof of the first building and it would be a wider space and not a wrap around. If you want, you can even extend it to make it even bigger and having like awning over the building to get some shade. At least you have another option to compare cost, labor and efficiency. You can still have the design you want but less complicated. You will show us what you came up with in the future.
If I do what you suggest, I'm not sure if would save money or labor. I would have to build more foundation columns if I did it your way. By adding a second floor I am utilizing the existing first floor containers which are designed for the transportation industry to stack on each other. I live on 1.25 acres. Still, I would prefer to keep as much of the land as possible instead of eliminating it by expanding the house horizontally instead of vertically.
where in florida are you building? did you have an issue with permitting?
I think youre going to run into issues with the second floor wrap around deck. The issue being you need a way to make all that load to bear on just the corners, even with i-beams the 40 ft span will cause a tremendous amount of sagging for a clear span
Thanks for sharing. Although my 3D model in this video does not show any vertical posts underneath the decks that reach down into the earth, I do plan to use vertical posts. In other words, the decks won't just be hanging off/supported only by the 40' containers... they will be partially supported by vertical posts. Thoughts?
I can’t find land near me for 80k
how about this design looks good czcams.com/video/hCfOUZDjmW0/video.html
Turned out very nice. Great job.
Well done.
Would love to talk to you about my container house in Costa Rica. 2 refers on one side, 20ft open living area and 2 containers on the other. The containers are beds and baths, middle area kitchen and living area. On 9 ft stilts (close to the beach) with a cape cod look exterior. It can be done for sure.
Thanks so much. ❤
Cant want for the next video, the plans looks amazing
