    You can literally build a house( like this guy) from CZcams videos. Most people can do these things, it really isn’t hard. All you have to do is a little research then get to work it’s that simple.

      sadly its kinda hard in Europe. Every single part needs to be certified by a professional in that area and an architect, and the local government needs to be informed of the build plan to approve it and of the total cost to tax you 😅

    Sharkbites are approved for use underground and behind walls, but installing them there could be risky. In both places, the fitting would be out of site. You would have no way of knowing if it were to start leaking. A SharkBite fitting contains a rubber O-ring, which is not best for permanent connections.

    You made yourself quite a cozy home. I’ve loved the idea of making a home out of containers. It makes it budget friendly. I’ve seen people weld I-beams on top of the containers to make a pitched roof to shed water and snow (depending where you live). I’ve even seen where foam insulation was added on both the inside and the outside walls to increase the R-value by reducing heating and cooling costs. The other nice thing about containers, is that you can stack them any way you want to or as high as you want to. You did a fabulous job.

    • @Lifelong_Lesson
      @Lifelong_Lesson Před rokem +1

      I'm considering building something like this, and you just gave me a great idea!
      Regarding the I-Beams: couldn't someone just slice the top off the containers and then attach wooden 2x4s (extending the frame, basically) to not only create a pitched roof, but to also add another level??
      And if that were to work out, what about codes and permits (United States - NJ specifically)?
      Because if that can all fly, I might end up going that route. My first idea was to build a small cottage with a basement from scratch... But lately I've been thinking that maybe I should just purchase the land, get two or so shipping containers, and convert them into one small cottage.
      Once that small home is finished, then I want to build the actual rest of the house around it (think of it like adding addition after addition/adding a room or two (or a certain amount of space) at a time.
      Kind of like a home that'll be a constant work in progress for around 5 or more years.
      I wonder if I can pull that off. Time will tell.
      And thanks for that idea!

    • @darkness_speaks
      @darkness_speaks Před rokem +3

      @@Lifelong_Lesson Yes you could do that, I believe you would need to add a strut support, example from the i-Beam to the floor as the container walls are not strong enough on their own. Im not a contractor so if I use the wrong terms apologies.

    • @roberthamm9304
      @roberthamm9304 Před rokem +3

      @@Lifelong_Lesson as long as everything meets code, you shouldn’t have a problem. You can bury the containers to create your basement, you’ll just have to waterproof them first, but yeah, you can set them side-by-side, stack them on top of each other, set them end-to-end. If you know how to weld, that makes it even better. If you’re wanting to set them side-by-side, weld them together. If you want to expand your space, take a grinder with cutoff wheels, and cut the sidewalls out. If you still have questions about your build, there’s CZcams videos that take you through the process. I hope this helps and answers your questions. Just be careful of the Taxman.

    In the kitchen where you had the plumbing done. The 1 1/2” vent line where it goes and connects to the 2” the sanitary tee needs to be flipped upside down. That’s so that it can vent the proper way, which is up.

      I'd love to see a study showing any significant negative outcomes from the tee being the way I have it. Although I agree I installed it "upside down" per common building practices, the notion that venting will function significantly poorer because of a small curve in the tee facing one way instead of the other sounds ludicrous to me.

      I just looked into this topic again (I've looked into it before over the last couple years), and once again I'm not getting the impression having the san tee "upside down" or "right side up" makes much difference for venting purposes. Is it a code violation? Not sure. Has it had a negative impact on my plumbing? Not that I'm aware of, and from my research everyone online seems to have a different take on this matter.

    AWESOME JOB FROM START TO FINISH! You didn’t cut any corners that’s for sure! Why so many concrete footers? Because of the sand? Or is that what will be needed in any area?

    Should have an exhaust fan system for bathroom as well as fir water cliset. An 8" fan will do for proper ventilation.
