#ShippingContainerHome #ShippingContainerDIY - Zábava
You can literally build a house( like this guy) from CZcams videos. Most people can do these things, it really isn’t hard. All you have to do is a little research then get to work it’s that simple.
I'd say it's a lot of research. But yes it's doable.
sadly its kinda hard in Europe. Every single part needs to be certified by a professional in that area and an architect, and the local government needs to be informed of the build plan to approve it and of the total cost to tax you 😅
Without a doubt the best video I’ve seen about container home construction
Glad you liked it
As a qualified builder, your attention to detail is a pleasure to watch.
agree
My goodness, not only is he an awesome builder, he is a fabulous TEACHER!
The dopest part is that you built your home wearing flip flops or vibrams. Like props, that is casual asf, lol. Thank you, you inspired me. You did your thing buddy.
Lol good observation
Ikr lol I was watching that!
Kudos to your friend/family member who worked his butt off, along side you, throughout this project (got a few years on you too!). You should add a Special Thank You at the end of this video.
You did a really great job! I just got my 40ft container from Wuwi Shipping Container very cheap and even paid it upon delivery. cant wait to start working.
You did a really great job! I've watched countless videos of people building these container homes. And they never really showed how everything was done. The amount I learned in this video is insane. Thank you for showing your journey!
Can’t believe I just watch an hour video 😂
SUPER F@KEN COOL 🤩🤩
👍👍👍
Starting my new job for a company making container homes and I’m really grateful for this video. Thanks a lot for taking the time to do this step by step. I hope a year later you’re still at it!
Cool. Good luck on your projects
No point is asking others if something is done right or wrong. Gotta do it and know it yourself.
Nice work on the shipping container house.
When he said “Yessss” after cutting this first window I felt it in my spirit!!!!! Crazy with the windows cut I can see it come together!!
Cool. This is our dream home. Build container home on our land. Rent is ridiculous nowadays in Canada. This is freedom. Alot of work and it's beautiful
The fact you did this mostly yourself Is awesome #respect
Hello I am currently living in Washington State. My Son is Building me a Tiny Container Home in Texas. He recently bought the Mini Split. He has done it all himself & it’s Amazing!
I Enjoyed watching your build. It made me feel like I could see what he had done and how much hard work he was doing!!
Thanks for sharing your video!!!
make sure to put a good amount of insulation between the waterlines and the outside metal wall as it will freeze in winter as the steel makes it worse, i had this problem in my container hm and that was in las vegas where winters are nothing.
FINALLY a house with a foundation I love.
I wish I could have seen the electrical part! Love the way you broke down the plumbing. I would prefer that than the storing the wood part lol. Amazing job thanks for this video. 😊
Cool! from Russia with RESPECT!!! 100%
So sturdy and such strong built...unlike the other flimsy built...excellent work...thus will last more than a hundred years..
Sharkbites are approved for use underground and behind walls, but installing them there could be risky. In both places, the fitting would be out of site. You would have no way of knowing if it were to start leaking. A SharkBite fitting contains a rubber O-ring, which is not best for permanent connections.
Knocking that last window out and you standing there looking around was pretty funny. Thinking hard about doing this. Just bought some land in Florida and we want to put 2 single family homes on it. Going to talk to my son in law about this. Will get back to you. Great video.
In the future, you gave yourself an option to build 3 more containers off the back to add additional bedrooms. Large enough crawlspace to tie in a second bathroom. I, personally, would need a bigger kitchen. However, you also allow plenty of room to modify. Very nicely done.
This is awesome. You should use the roof as well.. like a little outdoor pergola or something along those lines.. little get together place..
Man! I'm inspired!
I'm a carpenter and love watching new building techniques. Recycling and building new homes. Well done young man. Enjoy your new home.
You have mad skills. I wish I could hire you when I am able to build one of these.
Great Video. Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge.
this was the best step by step unstructional build ive seen yet
I think I would have been better if you used aluminum framing it's a bit cheaper also great job doing it on your own!
You use aluminum framing with yours ok 😊
This has a lot of helpful information all of the long hours of development show in your work.
You made yourself quite a cozy home. I’ve loved the idea of making a home out of containers. It makes it budget friendly. I’ve seen people weld I-beams on top of the containers to make a pitched roof to shed water and snow (depending where you live). I’ve even seen where foam insulation was added on both the inside and the outside walls to increase the R-value by reducing heating and cooling costs. The other nice thing about containers, is that you can stack them any way you want to or as high as you want to. You did a fabulous job.
I'm considering building something like this, and you just gave me a great idea!
Regarding the I-Beams: couldn't someone just slice the top off the containers and then attach wooden 2x4s (extending the frame, basically) to not only create a pitched roof, but to also add another level??
And if that were to work out, what about codes and permits (United States - NJ specifically)?
Because if that can all fly, I might end up going that route. My first idea was to build a small cottage with a basement from scratch... But lately I've been thinking that maybe I should just purchase the land, get two or so shipping containers, and convert them into one small cottage.
Once that small home is finished, then I want to build the actual rest of the house around it (think of it like adding addition after addition/adding a room or two (or a certain amount of space) at a time.
Kind of like a home that'll be a constant work in progress for around 5 or more years.
I wonder if I can pull that off. Time will tell.
And thanks for that idea!
@@Lifelong_Lesson Yes you could do that, I believe you would need to add a strut support, example from the i-Beam to the floor as the container walls are not strong enough on their own. Im not a contractor so if I use the wrong terms apologies.
@@Lifelong_Lesson as long as everything meets code, you shouldn’t have a problem. You can bury the containers to create your basement, you’ll just have to waterproof them first, but yeah, you can set them side-by-side, stack them on top of each other, set them end-to-end. If you know how to weld, that makes it even better. If you’re wanting to set them side-by-side, weld them together. If you want to expand your space, take a grinder with cutoff wheels, and cut the sidewalls out. If you still have questions about your build, there’s CZcams videos that take you through the process. I hope this helps and answers your questions. Just be careful of the Taxman.
Bit of a missed opportunity to show the inside of the building process. Having said that, for a first timer you’ve done an amazing job. Well done
Awesome job dude.
Building a house from scratch is gotta be an awesome sense of accomplishment but building one with thine own damn hands has got to be positively next level feeling. Kudos!
Lovely, amazing! I truly appreciate your work and ideas! Yet if I were you I've definitely put a window in the bathroom, too. Out of wood or whatever, but to have a window for the bathroom is a must.
Lovely work! Congrats to you! It's your beauty! 🤗
Good job man. As a plumber myself though I would have supplied the hot water heater and the 4 way T with 3 qtr. Inch. You might have the same issue with the hot water heater,as it will probably be 3 qtr inch as well.
Living in the wilderness is quite challenging, yet I am very impressed with this man..
Great Job! 99.999% would never have been able to accomplish what you did!
maybe 650,000 (0.001%) possibly could of done that work, out of the population on planet earth 6.5Billion only 650,000 would of been able to accomplish what you did! kudos to you buddy you did all of that yourself except for operating the crane. Wow you are an extremely talented individual. You are a very very rare talented man! Wishing you great success in all your endeavors!
This is inspirational and I'd love to build a family cabin on our country property. One thing I think I'd change is, I'd build separate sewer lines for toilets from the rest, that way I could use the waste water from sinks and showers to save in water barrels to use in my garden.
Forgive me if this is not a good question asni have absolutely zero experience in such matters...but it would seem to me that using drainage water from showers, (given all the chemicals, artificial coloring, scents, heavy metals, etc., in common soaps, shampoos, conditioners, not to mention the heavy chemicals such as bleach from cleaning agents commonly used to clean showers), may not be the ideal water source to use in your garden, or plants in general, correct?
@@jasongelb6745 you would use green products for this very purpose
Wonderful Work! Congratulations your Home Is Beautiful! I love the open concept! Those twin sliding doors, the huge bathroom! Rally Good! I enjoyed walking along with you and helpers it felt like I was there! Whew! That was a workout all while sitting at home lol🤣
Tyfs!👏🏾👏🏾💯❤😁😁😁
Lol thanks for watching 🙂👍
It was very carefully detailed and thoroughly put together. I like and admire the finish product
You stick the foam rubber band all around the container before putting the containers together. Firstly, it seals off rain and cold.
Place turned out pretty sweet dude.
Thanks
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL.
Incredible amount of work you put in! Also much appreciated is the hours of video you took and the editing involved. Very interesting to watch, thanks for taking us on your home buidling journey!
Good point lol. Recording the whole project was a whole other layer of work on top of the house build itself. Double work.
@@thinkoutsidethecontainer You're a very talented dude! Did you factor in curvature in your plans? lol. Wishing you great success!
absolutely lol
This video is amazing, thats my dream home...
you did a good job a lot of hard work
WOW great job. I really like how you beefed up the ceiling rafters. You wouldn't really want a multi-port with an input of less that 3/4" All supply lines are either 3/4" or 1" Also I do not know where you are located with weather, but you generally do not put plumbing on an external wall. So now since you have hopefully you are definitely going to insulate the crap out of it. Looks GREAT!!!
He's in Florida, weather isn't much of an issue down there
@@marcusborderlands6177 Awe makes sense...Great house he did a great job!
I really appreciate you showing these steps I’m getting started for this and I see how much has to be done but we’re prepared for this journey
You’re a great teacher!
Now I'm Red Pilled about shipping cointaner homes. 🙏
Lol
@@thinkoutsidethecontainer you rock man, glad to see you doing man stuff.
@@ThePandaBeat man stuff indeed 😉👍
Good job ! Only not sure about that exposed PEX under the structure. Animals will chew on it. Also, that long horizontal washing machine drain run without vent a and with that 90 in the corner - hm, not sure how that will work ...
Thanks for the feedback. You mentioned a long horizontal washing machine drain without a vent? The washing machine drain does have a vent.... unless you meant the drain runs to long a length before the vent....
@@thinkoutsidethecontainer Yes, that is what I meant. With 2" pipe you can go up to 42" horizontal with 1/4" per foot, not to exceed width of the pipe over the length of the run. Now I understand it will probably somehow work, but you may have difficulties later on with drainage. But I don't wanna make it look like I criticize your work. Love what you do - and more power to you! Good job & good luck !
@@elmono3939 back during the build, I did a good deal of research on the venting pipes for the various fixtures, and I do believe I was confident I had the proper vent distances. But I'd have to go back and double check your numbers, which of course I'm not going to do because the house is done, but either way, thanks for your input.
@@thinkoutsidethecontainer There are two Codes we go by: IPC and UPC. Then there are local Codes that add to them their own requirments. So it depends under Code your work falls under. UPC is stricter of those two, requiring dedicated vent for each plumbing fixture. IPC doesn't. However, long dirt arm is not as much about Code, as much as it is about law of physics.
I like the laundry in the bedroom. Looks good and easier to use.
Awesome, the plumbing explanation was useful, but I would have liked a bit more about the other areas, final finish considerations, what you could have done better, maybe information on the cost of materials. Either way, thank you!
His plumbing wasn't quite accurate. He needed to have slopes because it wasn't all sloped as needed for proper flow. My guess is with it being such a short run of pipe he may not have any issues, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has issues with his sinks and bathtub/shower backing up.
Bravo Chris! What a ride! Your mortgage free baby! Love it, it’s awesome 😎
🙂👍
Congratulations! Great job! Now enjoy It!
true!
Enjoy your home.
Considering the total cost of the build, and relatively minimal additional cost for “one trip” containers, I was surprised that he hadn’t opted for better condition containers. Great video!
Relatively is the keyword
effort, precision just wow! i am also aiming to build my house just like this one since there is too much typhoon coming here in or country.
This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. We're looking to do similar, and seeing someone else's progression (and a little bit of the "how to") is super useful!
You guys are so wonderful. The house is so beautiful as it blends with nature, a beautiful container house model. Thank you for allowing me to refer and learn from this wonderful house model. Sincerely
I am appreciative of men's physical strength and hardwork and creativity. The details of this project are well planned and it was done with with so much care. Respect to God first and so respect to men as well.
I'd prefer if I was given credit for this build instead of another masculine figure ("god the father") you view as superior to me.
@@thinkoutsidethecontainer maybe it was just me realizing how complex it was and the amount of hardwork and the talent you put into this project and I thought no way I can create something like this on my own. It has been my dream but with the resources I have it is not possible.
Anyway, I believe that that respect you have earned from me and from others may not be enough or may not be what you have expected but that respect you have earned (from me) is the highest respect I can give not just for you but for men who are into construction/building, making the society a better place. Your work on this video opened my eyes to that reality. So it is a positive comment Sir. I am but a small voice.
I am from the Philippines Sir. Thanks for the feedback.
Impressed with how this project turned out.
Absolutely fabulous home, well done 👍 This has got to be the most informative video I have ever seen. A big thank you for sharing 😊
This was a great series -- watched a bunch as you came out with the videos. Thanks for making it! Very cool how u modeled and edited in SketchUp as you encountered issues/changes. The state/price of housing is tough for the working/middle class so hopefully zoning will change to allow more builds like this.
Cheers brotha
AWESOME . . . I am absolutely excited to see shipping containers repurposed for home use!
best container build ever seen
I hope you’re making a continuation video for this build. You show the end result, but there’s so much more to cover! Thank you, this has helped me understand the work involved with building a container home. Do you have any videos about stacking containers for a home?
This is absolutely incredible and impressive. You demystified every step. Good job.
enjoyed it all
I'm actively looking for an engineer to do my blueprints and calculations to get a permit for a Florida container home. Can you let me know who you used or would recommend? Google has been unkind for looking for this specifically.
I'm glad I don't need permission to do what I want on my land.
@@jimmywhitlow2012 lol thats the unfortunate thing with those of us living in suburbia. Can't do what we want because of pipes and stuff.
@jimmywhitlow2012 could it be that your country is one of those without any planning.
This is an amazing home you have spend.❤
Congratulations I’m proud of you 👍 you are a excellent human giving your best and giving motivation to us.
In the kitchen where you had the plumbing done. The 1 1/2” vent line where it goes and connects to the 2” the sanitary tee needs to be flipped upside down. That’s so that it can vent the proper way, which is up.
I'd love to see a study showing any significant negative outcomes from the tee being the way I have it. Although I agree I installed it "upside down" per common building practices, the notion that venting will function significantly poorer because of a small curve in the tee facing one way instead of the other sounds ludicrous to me.
I just looked into this topic again (I've looked into it before over the last couple years), and once again I'm not getting the impression having the san tee "upside down" or "right side up" makes much difference for venting purposes. Is it a code violation? Not sure. Has it had a negative impact on my plumbing? Not that I'm aware of, and from my research everyone online seems to have a different take on this matter.
Very Nice👍🏻

Absolute best of the shipping home wars
Wow I'm honored lol
This is magical, seriously. Been plotting doing very similar, had my own ideas and you were nailing them left and right, making me feel more justified that I'm not quite so crazy. You even have the same welder I've been using for my furniture designs that Id be using on the containers. Amazing!
do you know wich welder is it? or at least the basic specs? thanks in advance.
Christ thank you for sharing your very impressive experience!!! This is a master class of construction of containers home🙏🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice work!!!
Thank you for this inspiring video. Now we can see what we've been dreaming about for the last couple of years.
Thank you!!!

Felicitaciones Arquitecto de lujo mucho trabajo lleno de detalles constructivos
Excellent work in building the house, editing, filming your journey. This is very inspiring! Thank you for sharing this.
👍👍
You did an amazing job Chris!
Appreciate it Max
AWESOME JOB FROM START TO FINISH! You didn’t cut any corners that’s for sure! Why so many concrete footers? Because of the sand? Or is that what will be needed in any area?
That is wonderful.
Very nice place now to put a speaker out there with owls hooting at nightime to make it majestical
Plasma cutter would have been your best friend.
YOU SHOULD BUILD DECK
Wow beautiful work
Your video is impressive! I like your results. Congrats brother. Nice work 👍🏼
Nicely done, thanks for the video!
Should have an exhaust fan system for bathroom as well as fir water cliset. An 8" fan will do for proper ventilation.
Beautiful container home 🏠 ... Great video... I learned a lot... Thank you 👏😃👍
Great job and video! Thanks brother!
I would love a container house. .
muchisimas gracias por sus videos, realmente son una gran idea para construir de una forma intuitiva y hasta cierto punto economica, saludos desde mexico.
having a hard time believing this is your 1st time. This is Amazing
I'm good at doing high-volume research over the internet. CZcams and Google were my teachers through this process.
