I strongly developed the listening part of language learning since I am passively bilingual. Speaking has improved a great deal. But reading has been amazing. I love reading all books but I love reading middle grade books in Portuguese because I feel like I’m learning and having fun while doing so. It’s like weirdly nostalgic and makes me feel like I am falling in love with reading again for the first time. Except it isn’t the first time - I just get to feel similarly since it’s a whole new world to discover. It should feel daunting but it’s not, it makes me happy that I have something to look forward to and discover each day.

I am only a B1 French speaker, been studying it for a year now constantly working on it and I was somehow capable of understanding everything you said even while covering the subtitles, guess I should be more confident in my French ability.

I agree with you that language learning is a journey. With that having been said, I want to share with you my journey. I’ve tried a lot of language learning apps in the past, but the only thing that’s really worked for me is Immersive Translate. It’s a browser extension that supports a wide range of languages. I use it every day to watch Netflix, and this has really helped me become immersed in a new language.

I was disillusioned and disappointed after watching Olly’s interview with Pablo of Dreaming Spanish. He was constantly grappling searching for Spanish words. It was painful to watch.

Unfortunately I understand the mental and emotional pain. Because I'm in the exact same situation. I declined more slowly than you because I withdrew socially 8 years ago. Jisiike. Ndo.

i am extremely excited for fluyo. ive always loved languages and have always wanted to learn languages but have struggled to find a way to learn the languages that works for me. I feel like this app will work great for me just from the things ive seen in the promotion videos.

It's all about living that language, not 'studying' it. Improving all 4 skills, not just speaking, but reading obsessively, going after the low-frequency words and phrases.

Take as much time as you need man, really hope you get better soon
