This looks so fun and I love the back story of Fluyo but what I am really curious about is how it actually teaches you? Does it go through simple sentence structure like Duolingo or is there some way to actually practice your speaking with others players?
So you made a language learning version of the Made in Abyss anime fused with the Typershark game. Pretty cool

I am looking forward to it! I have been using Duolingo and other apps, but after a month or, at best, 2 months of practice, I always lose interest. Flyuo seems very engaging and very creative! Well done!
Suggestion: you can only get certain accessories by learning a language (example: get an ushanka by learning russian or a bureau by learning french, etc)

A big tip here: When Fluyo is successful, things become sustainable, create a PC version, either a browser version or an app. Other than that, good luck brother, can't wait to get my hands on it.

There's some pretty decent language learning games on Steam these days. You should do a search if you havent looked recently.
You should definitely give other popular language youtubers access to your app so you can get some free marketing and they get to make a cool new video

Holy smokes this has surpassed all levels of expectation - the level of thought, attention to detail, and how you’ve incorporated features such as the dolphins growth as a visual representation of your language level… it’s all absolutely mind blowing. Thank you so much for dedicating your life to this. It’s beautiful.
My grandmother used to tease me when I’d tell her the inside and outside lore of a video game or anime I loved by saying “if only you had that same passion for your maths” so this method, by combining a vivid storyline and game with learning is a game changer for many.

I think you should make Manga/comics based on the lore in all the supported languages!! That would be super cool! The world sounds so cool and continuing the worldbuilding and languagelearning with webtoons/mangas would be awsome!! Ofc this shouldnt be #1 prioritery but once the app is done and if it proves successful which I am crossing my fingers for🤞🏼🤞🏼 you should definetely expand the lore/worldbuilding with something like that!!
it should be a romance or friend ship of two different people and languages who aren’t permitted to be together due to the fear of losing their language, since the creatures do enough harm, or a story of characters and thier familiar training to fight the creatures and explore and learn about their lore and abyss, or a slice of life nothing to do with language learning, or a thriller mistery where inhabits, like characters from this world, try to discover the secrets of their abyse and history. Nothing to do with learning. It should be used for world building not a lesson. To encourage people to be invested in this world. Also have the characters from the anime or comic in the game. So like once you can after leveling up visit the characters home town or their little settlement or once you learn enough to reach the half point in the abyss you come across the hut within the abyse or shelter ha of where the comic and character left off. Basically like cyberpunk edge runners, its within the game world but nothing to do with it. And you can visit the scenes from edge runners in the game.

Yep this is a great idea. Ikenna, you are banking the success of this app a lot on the story world. This is risky in my opinion because the story may not appeal to everyone. But if you really flesh it out and give people a reason to be involved then it could be a truly powerful and revolutionary language learning tool. Maybe the most effective tool. Nothing teaches languages better than story. But the story has to be captivating. Also just an idea, what if you can only find out what happens next in the story In your target language? What if there are multiple storylines/ subplots/ side quests where people have to use what they’ve learnt to communicate and complete missions. Alright I’m going off on one. I seriously look forward to seeing this released and finding out what you’ve come up with. Good luck brother!

Over a year year ago you inspired me to start learning a language, but after a while I lost motivation. In these last two months I picked french up again, seeing all the hard work and love that's put in fluyo was inspiring. Can't wait to support this awesome project.

Would you ever consider with adding ASL and other sign languages? I know that would have to add a lot of other things but there aren’t that many apps that teach them, it would be really cool!
the fact is with many languages, a lot is done automatically. hard to auto translate languages like japanese require extra effort, and this is probably why fluyo won't be launching with japanese. sign languages on the other hand would need to be done manually. and it's taught through visual representation and probably videos, etc. that's a lot of work considering it's niche. I'm don't actually know, but i would bet that most sign language learning materials are funded through government means because of this.
That would be cool in theory, but I don't see it working just because of the nature of sign language being visual instead of sound-based.
@@humanbean3 There isn't as much funding or learning materials out there as you think :/ it's also not really 'niche' with 250,000-500,000 'speakers' in America and Canada when actually niche languages like Esperanto often appear on similar apps and have approximately 1,000 or less speakers. Similarly dying native languages like Hawaiian and Gaelic rightly get interest and funding for people to learn when they have a similar number of speakers (admittedly Hawaiian has more)
ASL is a language you should really learn from a Deaf person directly. Either in a class or a Deaf youtuber. Signed languages are VERY different from spoken languages and therefore very difficult to teach/learn through an app.
@@felixhenson9926 you're right, "niche" was a bad choice of words. I meant it from a purely business/app store perspective. considering how much work it would require versus how much money they would make is what i meant. so in a money making app sense, it would be a niche on the app market. other languages however, can be added with a few clicks after they design the main layout/UI/code/etc etc.
Shout out to your graphic designers, 3D modelers and concept artists- this looks amazing! I signed up immediately and the vision sounds super interactive and community driven! Can’t wait to see other users’ custom dolphins on maybe a leaderboard someday? 🤔😌

To picka dolphin as a mascot is so so clever! Dolphins are well known and recorded to have different languages in between pods of the same species. incredible looking app I've already signed up and have been looking forward to this for literal years! hoping fo rhte best dude!!!
I can not wait for this! I am so pumped bc I have been trying to learn a couple languages but being in college right now and doing a career change has made many apps hard. It’s awesome to see what you’ve done with this app and the world you’ve made. Being in school for computer science has made me appreciate the work you’ve done!
I didn't realize you were going to create a whole immersive world. I wasn't sure about the app before, but this video made me sign up for the waiting list. I'm excited for it. I know it must be a long, difficult process to get such a large-scale app off the ground, so I'll be patient :)

i’m a teenager trying to learn as much languages i want in a sustainable, fun and enjoyable way because it’s my passion, and honestly i can really relate to when ikenna said that learning languages can get boring easily, so it’s really exciting to see a language learning app that actually sounds interactive and fun, i’ve been waiting for this since it announced and i love everything about this app already, and everyone, have a fun language learning journey!

Magic through language is an interesting idea! The Elder Scrolls actually does something similar with the dragon language, so I like that y'all are using fantasy in this way! This definitely sounds like a world I could get involved with.

Hola Ikena, soy de Inglaterra y estudio español desde hace 3 años. El problema que tengo con aplicaciones como Duolingo es que enseñan español de latinoamérica y no castellano. Por eso, aprender español es muy difícil por los que viven en Europa y me encantaría si fluyo incluya esta dialéctica de español.

This is really inspired worldbuilding. I'm sure I'll be fluent in my current target language (Albanian) by the time this comes out, but I'm really excited about the potential it represents. I think we're not far from a world where anyone who wants to can dedicate a little bit of time to it and learn a language and it's nice to see such cool innovations in that direction with such artistic inspiration as well.
The world of Fluyo is absolutely incredible! I am already super invested in the world, I want to learn more about it and see different places and all the creatures that inhabit them!

Bro... I think your ambitions are fantastic. Despite your physical limitations, you seek to create meaning! Bro, I am super proud of you! Keep on working, and please keep the microtransactions minimal - apps like Duolingo are SOOOO expensive. But I am willing to pay about $10 a month or so. Good luck with development!
suggestion: it would be cool if you added lore books that you can collect that are in the language that you are learning and are always a bit more advanced than your current language level, this would keep players invested in your world and the language learning process. if players are not as invested or getting bored in learning their language they can get more motivated by their own curiosity about the world they are in and the lore books would make them learn their language at the same time. the fact that they would also be above their current reading level would make them want to come back to it once they have learned more, and when they can read it they will feel like they have unlocked some super secret important knoledge.
Only discovered Fluyo this week and I'm already so excited for the potential this brings to language learners! Looking forward to being able to explore this project!

I am on the waitlist, and I am super juiced! TBH, my dude, this concept seems to solve so many problems that I’ve had with other language learning apps in the past. Because after you learn a couple languages, a certain way, or with a combination of methods that you’ve gotten used to, it really does become tedious… And the only thing that pulls you through is wanting to learn the language, it’s amazing to see something that looks genuinely fun and interesting and who’s ambition is to take you beyond the beginner level (which is a problem I have with mondly for example) I’m getting on that Kickstarter to as soon as it’s up. Man, with everything you’ve been through over the past 2 to 3 years. You are one of a handful of people I genuinely look to for inspiration.
Genuinely so excited for this. I’ve never been too fond of language learning apps but this one actually looks interesting and I know there was so much hard work and passion put into this. Can’t wait!
This is amazing Ikenna! I'm so excited for this app to come out, the story is amazing and the art is as well! i just have one slight thing, the avatars don't really mix with the background art it feels like your putting 3-d creatures in front of a 2-d background. That was just a small thing i had but other than that it looks great!
My issue with Fluyo is that it probably tries too hard. It tries to be everything and to have everything: a story line, characters, fights while also having all the features other apps have like vocab cards, language exercises, and a chat system too. It is a lot, to say the least.
I honestly think it looks insane. I can confidently say that creating something like Fluyo takes an overwhelming amount of energy, creativity, time, knowledge and dedication. It takes thousands of hours to create something that does everything, if not tens of thousands of hours.
That is also the reason for why it looks too good to be true
I feel like it will end up being too slow for fast-paced or more experienced learners. That's my main issue with almost all apps I've tried, they all go super slowly and introduce concepts purely through games, without the theoretical background. I still haven't seen a single written theory text from the trailers here, so I'm quite worried this will be the same.
feature creep seems super real to be honest. We'll see if it doesn't get crushed under its own weight. I'm cautiously optimistic for now
@@andrew_240 I just have the worst feeling about this app. He's hyping it up so much that I seriously can't help but believe that it will fail catastrophically. Perhaps the internet has hardened me too much with this kind of stuff.

I have tried and failed learning Spanish so many damn times. But I am CONFIDENT I will be able to learn with Fluyo. The dolphin is cute, so far from what you’ve show the app looks engaging, AND THE STORY? THE LORE? I was NOT expecting all that but I KNOW that this is going to be a game changer for people like me. It’s hard for me to get to studying, but lord knows I can play the shit out a good game with a good story line. I can’t wait to try Fluyo! ❤
The one thing that's undeniable before even trying it yet is that Fluyo is the most GORGEOUS language learning app. The art and colors are amazing and work so well together as a cohesive whole.
And this matters for more than just looks imo. Things like this add to the enjoyment of using something which means more interest you'll have in it, which means more time you'll spend using it, which means more learning.

Amazing. Just amazing. I've been waiting for this video for so long! Ever since I first heard that you were sick I got really invested in your story. When you eventually got the diagnosis, I read a ton of litterature abot POTS. Even though it's amazing to see you do so well and accomplish your goals, in spite of the disease, it's also super exciting to watch your "normal Ikenna videos" and listen to you speak about your upcoming projects. That's why I initially became a fan years ago in the first place. I'm hoping fluyo will help me learn spanish!

This is literally one of my dream projects. Like when my life starts getting more stable, I really wanted to start doing something like this with my free time. Do your best! Maybe one day I'll also be making a video like this one, or maybe I'll help you with Fluyo at some point in time :p

Just wanted to say bro I suffered a chronic illness at 16 and due to it im on medication till I die now. That was 2 years ago im 18 now you give me so much hope for my future and I honestly believe I will learn my first language because of you. Thank you for existing.
