Hello, I’m an Irish-Nigerian-American language learning CZcamsr hailing from New York!
I currently speak seven languages. Six of which I taught myself from scratch. By 2023, I aim to learn another five. The languages I currently speak are English, Japanese, Russian, Dutch, French, Chinese and Spanish.

Same. I would've folded when he asked how to say, "How are you?" Growing up in Aus, I'm more Australian than Māori now 😂😭 I also loved that he could tell by the accent as well. It's not common that you'll see people recognise ours or if anything they'll think you're from Australia

As a german.. gotta say.. dutch is a mix of english and german and sounds like a hard dialect.. so you won't confuse it.
When I see him in the VR world like this, I also just want to hop on VR chat and do the same thing haha. He is so inspiring for sure

You are my Idol; I can definitely hear dutch taking a toll when you speak even a small amount of german, but I find it so crazy that you are studying two languages of the same family so often and not getting them mixed up.
Right!! I cannot speak dutch but I can speak German and whenever I go to the netherlands, I am alwas surprised at how much I can understand even though I have never learned dutch.
@@AfroLinguo Das gleiche passiert auch den Leuten mit scandinavian languages, die hören bei einigen Wörtern Ähnlichkeiten raus oder allgemein haben es leichter die Sprache vom Nachbarland zu lernen
if you wanna be really technical English is also in that family too but there's a shitton of French loanwords and other stuff
Just a quick tip for your German; the "r" pronunciation that's like french is the more common one so I think if you can do it, it would be better for you to use, although both that and the one you said are used.

Я иногда переключаюсь с русского на английский, потому что не знаю как по русски лучше передать свои эмоции, ибо по английски то я знаю что хочу сказать, а вот по русски... Я русский, кстати. Хахапхппх.

I’m a kiwi who barely knows Maori aside from what we were taught in school (if that) and I’m not Māori but it’s cool to see you so excited by it.
Fr, I'm surprised he knew what it was
The Maori language and culture was heavily oppressed by the NZ govt for a long time. They expected the indigenous peoples to integrate with the European-style culture that NZ embraced, and it was like this until relatively recently. Last I heard, they're still trying to push for more Maori teaching in the curriculum.

I am enamoured by the fact that, even though we appear on very little maps that it has become a meme, we are gradually being known more an more because of sports and our movie directors and now that even Ikenna, the master of languages, knows even a little Maori is so cool. Keep it up and I hope to see some Maori encounters too

You've inspired me to continue my Arabic learning as I was almost done with the language due to my university professors and classes. It is a language that I love and I was depressed that I did not want to learn it anymore, however with your videos, your method and your e-book, I've reignited my passion and I've studying hard for the last several months. Wow dude. You are truly amazing! I’m new to your CZcams channel and I’m already addicted to your videos. You’re inspiring me to want to learn different languages other than English (my native language) and Africans from my parents who are from Africa (which I can understand but only speak a little of it), even though I have learning difficulties. But I always go the distance when it comes to learning new things and I’m excited to begin this new and hopefully successful journey in learning new languages through your channel.

I really like your videos, they inspired me to learn languages. I learn French at school because I'm dutch and I've been learning it for a few years now, even now I can't speak it fluently. You always amaze me with your skills!
And i'm french and I'm still trying to learn dutch (even tho I kinda gave up to upgrade my english and spanish i'm still interested in speaking as many language as Ikenna this wonderfully madlad)
good luck french is difficult (I'm french, and I still make grammatical mistakes), but of course if you are determined to do this you will success (take Ikena for example).
I hope to learn Dutch one day, it’s such a cool language. I speak Swedish and English fluently but am currently learning French in America (I’m in high school).

I interact with so many people from all over the world in VRChat playing the in the club and raving scene, especially on the Japanese side. You inspired me to try and start learning Japanese so I can more comfortably speak with all of my lovely friends and colleagues from there. Cheers Ikenna, hope you're doing well!
P.S.: I also know a tiny bit of Russian, took a year and a half of it in college, it's such a fun and interesting language to speak and study, and I had a wonderful professor.

Watching ikena makes me glad I know Spanish as well. Where I live everybody bilingual, so everybody knows Spanish and English, but it's fun some times go to vrchat and speak Spanish and see people try there best to understand me. Had alot of funny moments
