Its my goal, to help you Maximize Your Shop! I believe that a shop doesn't have to be huge or expensive to create beautiful furniture or crafts efficiently.
I'm a Part-time ("Bench-Top") woodworker, my goal is to not limit the size and quality of projects I can build in a small footprint despite being restricted to bench-top machines & limited time. My shop is designed around a requirement to move every 2-3 years for my work so I must consider dis-assembly, organization, weight and efficiency for every project.

Curious. Is there any reason you didn't want to attach lumber storage to the back? That big flat panel seems perfect for a few more pieces of sheet good storage.
Not sure how to contact this guy but it sure looks like his dust gadget works. Would like to know if it will fit my, I guess, older DW716 and if so how do i order it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey! 715/716 require a different design. I have a full prototype, but unfortunately, we had a house fire, so I haven't launched any new designs this year. Please check out my DIY prototype videos for the 715/716 solution.
Thank you, this is perfect! I need a sturdy coupler for my shop vac and dust separator.
Easy fix .. your close but the boot is too long
I appreciate your feedback, but length was derived from a lot of trial and error. I've since designed a commercial attachment that works better. I haven't compared the lengths, but length is absolutely a factor.
Wow, that’s a pretty steep price for this adepter. Around $80 if I’m figuring correctly.
I'm my sure where you got that number. I charge $49 shipped in US, I use premium components and I'm a single-person operation. What would you charge if your time and effort were involved? I promise I try to consider all factors in my pricing... and your feedback is something I will certainly read/ consider it.
Crystal clear video tutorial. Thank you!
You're very welcome! Glad it was helpful!
If you can afford a cnc machine, you can afford to buy premade benches.
I used a friend's machine and have helped ~20 others do the same on this bench.
Does this shroud work for mitered and beveled cuts?
Yes it does. It compresses around the fence
@@benchtopwoodworks Is a model available for purchase to fit Dewalt non-sliding saw DWS706?
Sorry to hear of your loss, I’m sure it will be better
Thank you so very much for your calming insightful video. Especially for the link to the manual since I just purchased a used one. Much appreciated
You gave the best view of this design. I have the exact same planer, and am about to make this unit for my planer. I bought drawer slides that can handle 220 pounds. I should have designed it like yours, with 2 sets of slides. I'm going to have a drill press, a miter saw, a planer, and a small compressor in the same 4 foot bench.
Will this fit to my DeWalt DHS780?
This works really well! Shout out from middle TN.
This guy has a good idea to take care of the blade cut.... you will see an under blade piece from the throat plate to suck that also.... does this make it better? Dust collection? I think it would.....
In this video I see you had a Rigid planer and in a later video you have a Dewalt. I have looked at both models. Which is your favorite? Is the rigid worth the money or should I wait and purchase a Dewalt?
Thanks for the tour and ideas, hope you and yours are well. Fellow vet here, I served at the tail end of when most bases still had craft/wood shops. So I didn't have to purchase & move as much as is required now, still it accrues LOL. I had a garage shop after I retired and now at age 66 and, I hope, my last move, I have a garage wood shop and 24 X 28' metal shop. Quick question, have you thought about putting your miter saw on parallel lifts? I use mine a fair amount, but bench top space is always a juggle. Easy access/storage is my goal. Dating myself, typewriter desks were still common in the '80s. I just got one from Craig's List to rob the lift mechanism out of, but I've also seen gas lift cylinders used for heavy appliances. Thanks for your time.
Now that I'm finally getting my shop together, this will be the finishing touch.
I just got done installing on my Dewalt saw. You done good Chris, this is brillant. As you stated in the last step of the directions, it is not perfect (due to the design of the saw), but it is a huge, huge improvement. I wish the best for you and your family recovering from the fire. Carry on my friend, and thank you for coming up with this design.
Do sell of share the STL files for your dust collector mods?
I do, they're on Etsy
Great setup, thanks for the video tour and explanations. WE ARE!!
Thank You so much! You not only explained the problem but several different solutions to the problem. While I'm waiting on materials, I tried adding duct tape to the shoot, extending it closer to the blade. No side panels yet, but that alone has cut sawdust almost in half. Also, it's keeping off the floor and on saw.
WOW.. what a difference! Just installed the kit - now I don’t have to vacuum my entire shop with this set up!!!!! Great design - Kudos to Jim Kramer. Kudos to you for getting this to market for a well made set of components. Most importantly, it really does a great job of minimizing the amount of saw dust spewed by the saw. - Larry
That’s a Stanley No5 Jack plane. Corrugated sole. Brass adjustment knob. Pretty old.
very descriptive but too complicated for my small brain. thanks
That's real treasures
You are so correct about those DeWalts be dust monsters, I’ll be giving that a try. Thanks
This is all we had as tools in the early 80,s in uk no power tools really 👍👋
This kit also works on the Hercules HE78 model.
Thanks Eric!
Came to ask that exact question, thank you!
Etsy says plans sold out. How can i get a set of plans?

How does the Hercules vs. The Dewalt stand?
What delta table saw are you using? Great set up, I'll be using parts of your build in mine!
Love it!!
What are the dimensions of the miter slot? Of the 10” band saws this one seems to be a premium version. It’s crazy how similar these 10” bandsaws are but the Rikon has better features; the cast iron table, guide bearing assembly’s, blade tension release. This 10” saw punches above its weight.
10" Bosch i will buy it now very nice work
Just got mine installed. Brilliant. THANK YOU
I have use the very similar Shop Nation model for a few years and was wondering two things. As I have not seen a demo of your unit.... How does the collection stack up to the Shop Nation model? And, you said that it would not allow some compound miters.... Have you considered modifying your plan with a mount piece to allow for quick removal?
Hey Mark, I'm pretty certain I have the Shop Nation model beat on preformance, clearance and durability. I helped Travis pivot on this project to be successful by sharing the fundamentals on how to achieve good MS dust collection. I also launched this model several months before his. My caveat about clearances really is about the most extreme cuts. This was also my gen-1 design for the Bosch. I released a model a few months after that attaches with thumb screws and can be removed quickly when needed. That Gen2 model also has improved clearances. Shop Nation's gen2 incorporated most of my features, so it seems he must have thought this design was better also. I'm glad to have competition and to push this project farther as a result.
Chis great video. I almost bought your dust collector a couple years ago and then got distracted. I have been more into 3D printing recently - just got a Bambu Lab X1C. So, I thinkn I would like to 3D print these and you mentioned this was ab option in the video. When I go to your etsy store, I only see the phyical product. Or, maybe I am missing something right in front of my face. Does the print file come with the instructions and screws/rubber pieces I need to order - i.e. links to suppliers, etc.
I installed mine yesterday and I have to say it’s nearly a miracle how little dust there was after cutting through a 2x4 a couple of times. Before there would have been sawdust all over the saw and the bench. Thank you!
Sweet. Hope those are extra heavy duty drawer slides😂
He doubled them up like you see in heavier duty toolboxes. The planer itself is just a bit under 100 lbs. With two pairs of 100 lb drawer slides, it is probably at 50% capacity.
My kids got me one of these for Christmas it finally got warm enough to install it. You did a great job with the video explaining how to install and follow up tests. It’s working great. Thanks
After months of research, this is one of the most practical mitre dust collections I've seen! thanks for sharing!
Nice vid, ty
I literally just did something very similar- the Dewalt has square holes on top so carriage bolts work great- so from top to bottom, my stack is: carriage bolt, washer on bottom of saw, nuts lock carriage bolt, then some thread, nut , washer- bottom nut does all the adjustment.
What program/software did you use? The name of it.
I used Sketchup
Did you use liquid nail?
How come I don't see any video of it in action? I do see a lot of the shop nation version. Is this one better?
This was published as an install video, so I did not demo. Definitely appreciate the feedback. I did add demo into later install vids. I don't have much time for content, so unfortunately I don't have a bunch of great action shots. Here's a link:instagram.com/reel/Cx_3ahVJzZ1/?igsh=NGV2bzUydzNsZTdh I'm not as big as Travis, but I did help him get started on this project. I think its better for a number of reasons (but I'm a bit biased) I will say, I was first to market on this design by months and his later model of this design changed to more closely mimic this design so Shop Nation must think this design is better also.
Hi Chris is there any videos of showing it actually cut and collect some dust?
instagram.com/reel/Cx_3ahVJzZ1/?igsh=NGV2bzUydzNsZTdh
Will this work on the 10" saw?
The 10" model will! benchtopwoodworks.etsy.com/listing/1387925030
you are not being fair to the stock chute. Since the vacuum was sucking in the cloth deflector, you had sawdust not making it in the chute until you put a piece of tape to add support. Once you did that in my observation most of the sawdust was going into the chute. I found the comparison pretty much equal on both chutes as far as sawdust not making it into the chute. In my opinion there are too many variables while cutting to have a "clean" saw and the surrounding area. Both did their job as they should. Just received the oem chute for my DWS780. I also have the oem dust collecting bag which I plan to use. Can't wait to see what kind of results I get.
