    It works. I got mine installed yesterday and I'd say it catch's 98% of the sawdust. So much better than the stock one the saw came with. It is easy to remove too if you need to for a special cut. I for one am happy I got it!

    I installed mine yesterday and I have to say it’s nearly a miracle how little dust there was after cutting through a 2x4 a couple of times. Before there would have been sawdust all over the saw and the bench. Thank you!

    I bought this beauty a couple months ago. Got it yesterday...hooked it up with easy to follow videos and writen instructions in about an hour and couldnt be happier with it! When you're cutting wood with this much power, you're gonna make some dust...simple as that but this shoot really made a difference for me. Yep...I'd buy it again!

    Chis great video. I almost bought your dust collector a couple years ago and then got distracted. I have been more into 3D printing recently - just got a Bambu Lab X1C. So, I thinkn I would like to 3D print these and you mentioned this was ab option in the video. When I go to your etsy store, I only see the phyical product. Or, maybe I am missing something right in front of my face. Does the print file come with the instructions and screws/rubber pieces I need to order - i.e. links to suppliers, etc.

      Hey Greg, this is just an install video to go with the instructions I wrote. It does work well. I intend to publish a video on performance soon, along with the principles I'm applying. Sorry I've done a bad job of documenting, I've been fully focused on the design side. Here's a link to a few angles of performance:

      This was published as an install video, so I did not demo. Definitely appreciate the feedback. I did add demo into later install vids. I don't have much time for content, so unfortunately I don't have a bunch of great action shots. Here's a link:instagram.com/reel/Cx_3ahVJzZ1/?igsh=NGV2bzUydzNsZTdh
      I'm not as big as Travis, but I did help him get started on this project. I think its better for a number of reasons (but I'm a bit biased) I will say, I was first to market on this design by months and his later model of this design changed to more closely mimic this design so Shop Nation must think this design is better also.

    • @benchtopwoodworks
      @benchtopwoodworks  Před rokem

      It works well at full bevel/miter. There are some limitations to thickness around 8/4 on full width cuts at 90. Plunge is not limited. Beveling changes vertical clearance slightly, I'm sorry I don't know the max height when beveled off the top of my head

    • @benchtopwoodworks
      @benchtopwoodworks  Před 11 měsíci

      Great question Rich, I have not done a video on it and need to! Assuming your saw has the hard plastic version, If you drill the 2x rivets in the stock chute, you can separate the halves. The stock elbow will mate with our port the same way the stock one did with the bottom portion.

  • @danwparkinson

    I guess my expectations were too high for this DIY unit. What I seriously could not believe was that when the install was done there was no adapter to place on the end unit to then hook up to your dust collector. You would think for$50 an adapter to fit over his custom tube would be available. The hose kinks when moving the saw which will reduce suction significantly. Not impressed

    So you can cut crown in nested position, but how many times do you cut crown at 90 degrees in nested position? Once you miter the crown you need to take it off. These aftermarket dust ports are a joke. You really think Bosch made this tool to be dust free or to cut your material in every possible way with minimal interference. Dust collection is an afterthought because usability is the most important part.

    • @benchtopwoodworks
      @benchtopwoodworks  Před 7 měsíci

      I'm sorry you feel that way. As the man in the arena on this one, I can share some more info. You can cut at least 5.5" nested crown at all miter angles without interference. I have personally talked with the Bosch engineer and product manager yes they design for the widest possible work envelope. In doing so its optimized for capacity and not dust collection, this attachment optimizes for dust collection and of course there are tradeoffs. Almost any of these saws can be improved at least a fair amount. What model are you running? I keep a list of all inquires.

    • @samsonhorvath3614
      @samsonhorvath3614 Před 7 měsíci +1

      I use 10” glide miter with a Rousseau 5000-L dust hood. Not perfect, but does not limit capabilities. Once your dust port gets in the way it would get taken off and not put back on. For me it doesn’t benefit me over usability. Not to mention the dust hood can handle a stray off cut and not damage anything around. This is just my preference. Good luck with your product.

    • @audiobrad99
      @audiobrad99 Před 6 měsíci

      I think saying "aftermarket dust ports are a joke" is unfair. Some might consider the factory dust port to be a "joke" because it doesn't collect dust very well in any mode. Both statements are silly. I don't think anyone who makes these things claim that they work in every scenario that the saw is capable of. Would you install a zero-clearance insert for less tear-out, then be upset with the seller because you have to remove it for bevel cuts? ZCI's are a popular modification that also limit the saw's capability, but with a clear benefit in certain use cases. Seems to me you should have spent more time reviewing the product capabilities and whether it was a good fit for your needs.

    • @samsonhorvath3614
      @samsonhorvath3614 Před 6 měsíci

      You don’t make a very good point. I use a colliflower zci and it has a simple dovetailed slot to remove quickly and easily for beveled cuts. I am a professional and use all sorts of products regularly. If the product isn’t efficient for work flow of saws usability, it is a joke for professionals. Have a great day!

    • @audiobrad99
      @audiobrad99 Před 6 měsíci

      @@samsonhorvath3614 It's odd that a "professional" couldn't anticipate the potential limitations all products have in certain use cases when such information is readily available. This is a custom product made in a small shop by someone who is obviously dedicated to doing his best to serve his customers. Respectful feedback is appropriate, but insulting language is not. You, my friend, are a troll.

  • @samsonhorvath3614
    @samsonhorvath3614 Před 6 měsíci

    You as a “engineer “ should understand the draw backs and limitations of this dust port. It doesn’t hold up to real world applications for a saw with its capabilities. Understand “professionals” use this saw constantly for “actual everyday work” to make a living, not a weekend cut list. You’ve explained you don’t need a saw of this caliber, I do. Taking 5 minutes to take off and another 5 to put back on can end in hours of lost wages. This works for weekend worries, not construction workers. Sorry you couldn’t understand my points of view. Good day!
