  • Mobile workbench with integrated power and dust collection. This design avoids the mistakes commonly seen with an "all-in-one" solution. The bench houses a table saw, mitersaw, jointer, planer, bandsaw, drill press and router. This workbench was built with plywood and 2x4s and each machine mount was added over time. Anyone can build this simple design, I have lots of plans to guide your through each phase of the build! Don't forget to Leave a comment!

    Your video had more “fit & polish” then many “seasoned” You Tubers, I also love that you’ve shown a viable and feature packed idea that doesn’t break the bank will likely be buying plans from you,keep the great content coming. Bravo Sir!!!

    I'm very fortunate to have had your video come to me. It is exactly what I needed for thoughts on organizing my small space, which is a third the size of yours. Thank you very much for sharing. I am now a subscriber.

    This is one of the best integrated workbench solutions I've ever seen. I just missed some T-tracks or something like that at the top of the workbench. Subscribed!! Congratulations from Brazil!

      Thanks Alessandro! A lot of planning went into it. I have a revised plan for t-track and dog-holes, but am slow to update my own. Thanks for watching and the sub!! Great to have you and cheers from up north!

    Great design ideas. Will defo split my work table in 2 4x4 instead 4x8. For the sake of 4 additional castors and some other hardware much more flexible setup.Thanks

    How important (and I know this is a bit of a theoretical question) is it to put the planer on the side opposite the joiner for balance and distributing the weight. If I say, wanted to move the planer (mines a lunchbox type - but the same should apply) to swap with the shop vac/dust deputy, would it still work, or would that make the whole table too heavy on one side. Great idea - Great Execution for a first try - I'd love to see you refine the build some more (say with a really solid 1 3/4" top). And other than the way you have the planer, I don't see much of any lifting. I guess you could make it just a pull out drawer. Would work fine unless you plane a lot of rough lumber - then it would be too much bending over...

      Brian, are you spying on my current drawings? I may have something in the works ; ) that include some of your suggestions for the next iteration. I'm keeping those ideas pretty close-hold for now. I've thought long and hard about a top redesign with dog holes, etc and changes to a few other components.
      I don't see any issue with what you've described from a balance perspective. Cart by itself with no machines weighs 200-280#. Drawer would absolutely work at lower height as you described. I had a Ridgid R4331 on the mount originally.
      I think the total weight with the cart and anything else you might have on it would be plenty to offset it. You may want to consider interference between planer/jointer, may not be an issue.
      I tentatively plan to redesign the planer mount when I figure it out to add a spring or gas strut to offset the lift.
      Thanks for watching, bringing your ideas/ feedback and taking the time to write!

    Do you have a video for the wiring set up and receptacles? I love the set up and all that you’ve put into it.

      Brian, I do have a video that goes over the entire electrical layout. I don't have a video of the actual wiring when I did it (was one of those "just get it done" projects) There is also a wiring diagram plan on my Etsy page. Here's the wiring video: czcams.com/video/Dmw0VMQDfz0/video.html

    Great concept but does not work for an old man. Too much moving of the machinery for an old person. I like the wheels but not the lifting. Thanks for a great work table.

    • @benchtopwoodworks
      @benchtopwoodworks  Před 3 lety

      Great point David, definitely something to think about for the planer mount. I intend to make a proper mount for my scroll saw at some point to prevent lifting.
      Thanks for watching, and taking the time to give feedback!
