Hi! I just installed my dust chute on my Bosch miter saw, and it works pretty well, though I thought I'd add my input. On my saw, I had a shop vac hose attached to the Bosch chute...the end it had matched up perfectly with the Bosch chute, so I wanted to continue to use the top part of it (the elbow). However, you mentioned that the top piece of the Bosch elbow would slip right over the tapered nozzle part of your system, after removing one of the rivets. I didn't find that to be the case...when I tried putting that Bosch part over your nozzle, it spread it out quite a bit. It wouldn't stay on its own, and even if it did, there was a gap where the two parts spread apart creating a leak!
However, what DID work pretty well was to just remove your tapered nozzle altogether, and screw the hose you included into the Bosch elbow. The elbow still spread apart a bit, but it closed right up when I put a new pop rivet in place, and the hose is then pretty securely connected to that elbow. Then I just used a zip tie to fasten the Bosch elbow to your clip similar to how the tapered nozzle was originally! There's still plenty of length in the hose you include to connect it in this manner.
The difference between my saw now and before adding your dust chute is huge! Money well spent!
Art, thank you very much for your feedback. You are the 2nd person to bring this to my attention and I appreciate you sharing it here for others. The stock elbow over our adapter innovation came from some of our early purchasers and I haven't even had a chance to try it myself. Based on the feedback, I'll do that and I'll add a few notes in the installation instructions on these options.
Pinned this. Please read. When adapting the stock hard plastic, ends you drill both rivets.
Hey Chris great video and break down of installation .
I did find it was easier to screw the hose clip to the saw first then zip tie the tubing and hose adaptor to the fixed peices. Less parts to fumble with!
Keep up the awesome designs !
Very well explained. Looking forward to installing mine.
I just installed this today and am
Extremely happy with it!!! I made an adapter for my shop vac hose by taking a short piece of 1 1/2” PVC pipe, using a flap disc on my rotary tool to open up one end of the pipe to fit over the end of the outlet from the saw, and the shop vac hose fits perfectly into the unaltered end of the pipe. It’s not high tech, but it works.
10" Bosch i will buy it now very nice work
I bought this last week, should be installing it this week once it arrives.
Thanks for your business, Jason! This video is for you
purchase STL can’t wait to get it going. Thank you. and frank does it brought me here
First off..... fantastic product. This bosch was literally the only tool in my shop that created the most dust. This has made a tremendous difference.
I didnt see it mentioned and if it was my apologies. Looks like I have the same model you have, with that bracket on the right side with the black screws that screw into the arm. Now unless I miss understood, that tab gets pinned in between the guard and that black bracket. With the thickness of the tab it offsets those black screws slightly. Easy fix, I bored out those 2 holes slightly and fit like a charm.
Once again, great product, and I cant wait to see what you have up next!! Thanks again
I had to do the same. Took seconds to do. The difference this makes to dust collection is unreal.
Congrats Chris on a great product. I saw Izzy Swan using and talking great things about it. Well done, Congrats, man. Merry Christmas from Cataula!
Hey Mark, great to hear from you! Thank you!
Chris Great Job. This works better than stock and the old 3d printed one I had that only worked in chop mode at 90 degrees.
I do have a few pointers for anyone making this, The McMaster Carr hose is a must. I tried one off amazon but it was too stiff and caused parts to break. The hose needs to be pretty flexible,
You can print this with PLA and it works fine. I had a lot of problems with PETG on my ender3 including 4 failed prints, lots of stringing and layer adhesion problems. I tried lots of settings and never got results I liked so if anyone has good settings for Overture filament please let me know.
Great instructions! Thank you
Thanks, Shawn!
Very cool idea 👍🏼
Thanks! this is actually meant to be a customer install video. Published it publicly by pushing wrong button!
Hey Chris, this looks amazing! Are you planning to make one for the 12” Metabo sliding compound miter saw? If so, I’d be your first customer!
Nice work on this video and on the product itself. If you ever develop an adapter for the Dewalt DWS779, a very popular saw, i'd buy it in a second. Thanks for what you're doing Chris.
Thank you, Andrew. News on that soon!
I too have a DWS779 and just purchased the Bosch last night. I really like the 779, however it just has too deep of a footprint for my garage, not good DC at all and the bosch will be able to fit on my workbench a lot better. Now I am going to try and see if I can sell my like new 779. Agree, I am excited for the adapter.
Great to hear from you over here on CZcams also, Kevin. Best with the Bosch and chute. I think you'll be happy with the articulating arms
Nice. I do have a concern about the cord clip that was removed and not replaced.
Our aftermarket part has a clip to retain the cord in the same location as stock clip. I do appreciate the concern.
Good demonstration. You mentioned 3D printing your own or purchasing the assembled version in your etsy store. I went to your etsy store and saw the preassembled version> I did not see the 3D print file version. Did I just miss it? Like this and I have the Bosch.

@@benchtopwoodworks sorry for delay in getting back to you. Based on doing a little research and checking parts from McMaster Carr (based on shipping) it's only a little cheaper to do the 3D printing myself. So are you only selling the assembled versions through Etsy. Or, do you have another link to buy direct from you and avoid ETSY fees on your part? I'd rather you get the most amount of money.
Hey Rob, here's a direct link up fully assembled: www.etsy.com/listing/1357964771/12-bosch-glide-gcm12sd-miter-saw-dust
I may put together a parts kit once I catch up on shipping pre-orders, I do offer the rubber, but don't currently offer the tubing cut to length.
Very nicely developed device. How does the dust chute impact blade changes? Can the chute be left in place when changing blades”
Hey Peter. I recommend removal for blade changes. The design is very close to the blade which doesn't give much room side to side to work with.
Do you have instructions for the fence change you suggest being made for taller pieces? Or at least photos to include with your design?
I'm sure I have a photo somewhere, but will do a different video on this soon! I'll try to demo that.
Chris Great video, do you make the chute also for a Festool KS60 E ? european model
Hey Frank, not yet. Can you confirm your exact model number? I'd like to learn more about your saw.
Hi Chris, one more question: Is there a video with your BOSCH solution IN ACTION vs. the original stuff? I think orders would "explode" ... ;-)
Thanks, there will be soon! This was meant to be a customer video..I have lots of video on Instagram of it and @izzyswan just published a video with it in use.
Where do you get the grey hose, and is it the same as Rigid's vacuum hose? I've heard that pool vacuum hose is the same, but I haven't been able to confirm. I'd like to get some bulk hose for cleaning my shop.
It's from mcmaster Carr, it is not the same as their hose, but you can order all sorts of hose from them
Good job, are you planning to make the same to miter saw Bosch GCM 350-254 ?
Will see! Goal is to design for as many saws as possible! Thanks for sharing your model number
I can't believe Bosch engineers failed so hard on such an important part of the saw.
Man if this works it would be a game changer for me!
I think there's a few lawyers involved in why they aren't fixing it as OEMs. I'll publish a video on my theory soon!
I was wondering, are there are any limitations to the miter or bevel when the chute is installed? Thank you!
Hey Jared no limitations to miter, bevel,, or travel. There is a 3.5" depth of cut limitation when plunging with this revision. We may improve that, but had to trade it off to keep suction at the right spot and rubber close to bottom of saw bed.
Do/can you make this dust collection apparatus for a 10" Ryobi sliding compound miter saw? If not, any suggestions?.I don't have a 3D printer
Don, what is your specific model?
This video may help you with a drawer liner solution: czcams.com/video/dN0xR__pSI8/video.html
Do you have one of the miter saw dust collector chute for a Hitachi C12LSH
Hey Dan, I don't, but thank you for sharing your model number. I'm keeping a running list of makes/models and prioritizing based on demand.
I was watching this again and realized a dab of rubber cement (not contact) or a piece of double sided tape would make assembling the cute a little easier
Thanks for sharing your idea, Gary!
I think we're going to go back to our one- way track on the next revision of this 12" Bosch model. I think the other models with the track we've done are much easier to assemble.
I have use the very similar Shop Nation model for a few years and was wondering two things. As I have not seen a demo of your unit.... How does the collection stack up to the Shop Nation model? And, you said that it would not allow some compound miters.... Have you considered modifying your plan with a mount piece to allow for quick removal?
Hey Mark,
I'm pretty certain I have the Shop Nation model beat on preformance, clearance and durability. I helped Travis pivot on this project to be successful by sharing the fundamentals on how to achieve good MS dust collection. I also launched this model several months before his. My caveat about clearances really is about the most extreme cuts. This was also my gen-1 design for the Bosch. I released a model a few months after that attaches with thumb screws and can be removed quickly when needed. That Gen2 model also has improved clearances. Shop Nation's gen2 incorporated most of my features, so it seems he must have thought this design was better also. I'm glad to have competition and to push this project farther as a result.
Chris, do you make these for 12” Hitachi Sliding Miter Saws?
Not yet, but I've advised people on modifying them
Have you tried this on the Bosch 5312 model?
I haven't Jason, but thank you for sharing your model number. I keep a list of inquires.
Hi Chris, excellent job! Do you know whether your set also works with the European version (Bosch GCM 12 GDL Professional 0 601 B23 600)?
Greetings from southern Germany
Hans
I do not, but I have already shipped 3x to Europe. I assume those customers are taking a risk to try it out
@@benchtopwoodworks 7:08 7:10
Have you had any feedback from The European customers yet, when do you expect the GCM12GDL chute in production?
Love your informative videos.
How accurate is this saw at full extension for you, just got this saw and was on the fence with the Makita or this one.
I haven't done much in the way of accuracy testing, but it feels extremely solid. I don't think it has much deflection. It was square out of the box and seems very well made. Unfortunately I don't have any personal experience with the latest Makita miter saws.
I've also been happy with a Delta Cruzer which I had some reservations over deflection. That I have tested and it's negligible especially with standard cutting forces.
Do you have one for the articulated Bosch 10inch?
Not yet, hopefully soon!
@@benchtopwoodworks would you let me know if and when. I am interested.
Will this work on the 10" saw?
The 10" model will! benchtopwoodworks.etsy.com/listing/1387925030
Do you make one for the 10” Bosch?
We'll have one very soon!
@@benchtopwoodworks I mistakenly bought the 12 inch Bosch kit for my 10” Bosch saw. Consider this another vote for the 10” Bosch!
Oh no! OK, David. Well, if you're feeling like tinkering, check out what Quartersawn Woodshop did with one of the 12" kits to convert:

Basically what my own 10" prototype looks like
We’re can I purchase one of these?. Thanks
Hey Scott, pardon my delay. There should be a link in the description, here's a direct link in case it's clickable: benchtopwoodworks.etsy.com/listing/1357964771
Random question, did you serve in the Army? I know someone with the same name as your username.
Thanks
Does this work with the Bosch 10" saw?
Add, it does not but we will soon have one that will
@@benchtopwoodworks Thanks Chris. I did purchase one but hadn't attempted the install. I'll box it back up and send it back. Looking forward to the 10"! 👍
