The oil spilling to the driveway, a tip: Pour a gasoline over it, the gas bonds with the oil and it evaporates with the oil. Did it many times when repairing lawn mower and the oil got somewhere where it shouldn't.

Working on any kind of machine and using tricks should definitely be thought through but after 40 plus years I don't even think of most of these as hacks and more as normal procedures that only an experienced mechanic should be using so I don't really advise any novice try them without careful thought it cost you broken parts more expensive than the initial repair or a visit to the ER. But all of these are used regularly by mechanics on flag time that still gets paid the same amount even if they finish the repair 3 hours faster than what it calls for

22 years at multiple mechanic jobs and everyone calls it OIL DRY?

The one with the big oil tank tipping over…….well I have one similar and maybe better. I was working in a small 3 bay shop at a small dealership. I went to empty my tank into the big tank we had for used oil storage. That tank was over by the shop door. Our system was to hook up the shop air hose to the small tank and the air pressure pushed the oil out of a hose. The end of the oil exit hose had an aluminum tube bent to form a hook shape. Well, the hose clamp holding the oil exit rubber hose to the aluminum hook tube didn’t hold and the aluminum tube blew out. The rubber hose then started to whip around like an air hose does if the end breaks off. I ran to grab it but before I could is sprayed me completely with oil and it strayed all over the shop and onto all 3 cars in the shop. Our detail guys had to was all 3 cars real quick. And I had to borrow a spare uniform we randomly found in the dealership with no underwear because that was soaked with oil too. Needless to say I never gave those pants back. And I also never left the small tank alone when eprying it again. Always was next to the tank and holding the shop air line connector.

16:31 I once had a situation with the wheel bearing. I was an idiot and bumped the wheel hard one too many times, and I noticed the noise one morning. Took it into the dealership, maintenance director rode with me to try and hear it. Didn't hear it. I think the next day I took it to the dealership again. This time a mechanic rode with me today. He heard it, but attributed it to a bad tire. I insisted that they lift it up and check it for me. Sure enough, it was the wheel bearing. I had extended warranty so it was covered.

In a pinch, fine sand works pretty good for oil. Dunno about engine oil, but I've done hydraulic oil spills with blasting sand

Just an observation with the quick lube on the coyote. I have a buddy of mine who is a veteran. Combat wounded and lost both of his legs. He loves working on cars and especially diesels. But it's very hard for him to get down and do stuff underneath. He has to take off his legs and put on some rubber protectors over the nubs and everything. And its hard for him to maneuver like that. Because of this he usually has a quicklube/mechanic shop do his oil changes. But he is very specific with the type and amount of oil to put in. Could be a situation like that and the message was never given or recieved on what type of oil to use.

Radiator thing, id put my money on someone put oil in the radiator. Sell them the blinker fluid!
