Great video. It was very helpful and informative. I have a question. You said in your video that you can add another partition/drive image, as long as it is given a different SCSI ID. Can I assume, you would just create a second drive image, as the first one was created? Then once created, it can be copied to the external DB25 BlueSCSI in the same manner and the the first one, correct? Now, the question is before I copy the second partition/drive image to the BlueSCSI, can I copy files to the partition with SheepShaver before I copy the second partition/drive image to the BlueSCSI and change the partition/drive image? Or would I have to use the BlueSCSI file transfer tool to move files from my iMac to the BlueSCSI partition. I ask because, like you, since I was an Apple Tech for while, I also have an external SCSI hard drive to which I copied all of the System versions, I had at the time, into various folders. So, if I had to backup a customers data and reinitalize the internal HD, the installed a fresh version of the System Software. I would like to set up my external DB25 BlueSCSI in the same manner. The DB25 BlueSCSI is a lot easer to carry around. I would appreciate and advice/recommendations you might offer. Thank you, Randy
Excellent articulation. Educative and entertaining. Thanks
works well enough for my needs.
I know you're getting sick of working on Classics, but I sure like seeing it, cuz I have a Classic II I need to repair (def at least the analog, probably the logic) and 2 pluses (one I got to practice on, one my childhood computer(also def has needed analog repairs for 20 years, used to smack it to get it to work in like, 2000)).
epic.thank you very much ❤
What an amazing video
Thanks. I wonder what you think of solderless connections
This was an amazingly well done video. Thank you @Branchus! I wish I has seen this before I tried servicing my Quadra 700 floppy drive. I ended up with the bent head-mount that you bend back into shape at the end of the video. I'll have to give that a try. :)
This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. My Brother's Precious SE30 has languished in a Cupboard. I am going to Bluescsi it (as well as pram battery replacement) and Back up the internal drive. Was wanting to know how to mount the Blue SCSI externally to start with. His is quite expanded (network, DiMMo 50mhz and 128MB ram) Running 7.5.5 as is. Will probably mount internally and remove the hdd eventually but this is great.
Good explain sir
I have two questions for you. What is recapping actually? I watch it and get an idea but don't know exactly. Second question is, what kind of a degree do you have or training? I think I can answer one of my own questions. Recapping is repairing the computer so it's in good shape and working.
This video is pretty old, but it does thoroughly explain what recapping is: czcams.com/video/SjgWo7mj8-w/video.htmlsi=cTc2k2SogEVjzMxd

I just gaffer taped a dildo to the side of a biscuit tin. Mom wasnt too pleased about that.
Thanks a lot - doing SMD rework on a 3D printer controller with a dead driver. Will be my first SMD soldering ever, so your video is very appreciated. The clarification of the NEED for flux was a big help.
Greetings from New Zealand. I am about half way through building the same unit. The power boards I have ordered have been damaged in transite and I am onto my third shipment of replacements. I will get them sometime in the future, I hope!! A couple of questions please. Is the 3D programme available to make the boxes and the dovetail mount? Where did you get the plug for mains power to the board ? Kind regards, Paul
Strange feeling that I’m watching this and am constantly barraged with shampoo ads.
was hoping to see some heavy corrosion set in where the solder has turned grey from cap leakage and will no longer flow. myself I don't even bother with hot air on smt caps, just a medium long cylindrical tip and a leg at a time.
Today I done a recap on the same drive but the internal variant with dummy eject button. Anyways, I wanted to ask about the other PCB in that drive which seem related to the motoring stuff. It is located at the bottom side of the drive. From a sideways opening I can see the pcb but I can't see whats on it. I don't want to disassemble the mechanics just to find no caps at all. Did anyone looked there already?
What solvent do you use in your ultra sonic? Are there any chips or circuit components that’s can’t go in the ultra sonic?
The CZcamsr "Project Farm" tests a lot of "stuff" WITH measurements. Talks fast, but well worth a look... This is a great project!!! Arduino is awesome ..
Next: Ultrasonic Hot Tub Time Machine :).
batman reviewing thermal cameras!
Can u show how to make a simple ultrasonic transducer transmitter and a ultrasonic transducer receiver circuit seperately to measure the transmission loss.
Hi Bruce, I love your ultrasonic video series, they are so comprehensive and I learned a lot from them Would you consider making an ultrasonic cutter video once, I wonder if it is possible to make a cake cutter or a pizza cutter with combining multiple of those 50W generic cleaner transducers. There is a lot of content online about cleaners but so little on cutters.
This was exactly what i was looking for! Been subscribed for a while but a best of gaming on mac os9 series is just epic! Greets from a fellow content creator.. That has finally come around on setting up old macs again!
Thank you, very well demonstrated. I learned a lot.
Can this be installed for use with an overhead storage position. As if in your installation would the head reach below the bench. I want to attach it to a shelf over my bed! Then pull it down to use it.
Excellent video! Is it time for a "12 months later" review?
Good idea! I'll add it to my production schedule.
you are really great
Thanks for a great video, and a great 3-part series. You mentioned 350 C as a good temperature to start with. Is this specifically for surface mount soldering? I ask because in the Part 1 video you mentioned 400 C as the recommended temp. Just wanted to clarify this aspect of the “art”!
I am 56 years old and had 1 class in Jr High. Back then there wasnt a cell phone in anyones hand. This is invaluable information. Those of you that were born into this information age really have no idea that in iorder to get this information back in my day I would have had to go to someone like this fine gentleman in person and ask him everything I would need to get a project done. Thanks for your help sir.
Tell the truth, Bruce. Your unboxing was at real-time speed, not fast-forwarded. LOL - great video and your genuine excitement was wonderful!!!
Rand Miller talks about how the Mac version of Myst is superior to the PC version. Would be nice to do a follow up focusing on games that were better on Mac. - Can you recommend a Mac that will run Myst + Riven - the G3 tower is appealing but I want one of those SCSI drives that do CD emulation so I don’t need to swap disks.
Awesome video, Bruce! Thanks!
Try "Lost Eden" MacOS 7-7.6 or 9
Settlers II for me, followed by Civ 2 (never actually tried Civ 1), Shadow Wraith, 3 in Three, Future Cop, & Deadlock. Enjoyed hearing about Secrets of the Luxor. I've barely played any Mystlikes as they have typically come across as a bit stuffy to me, but that one looks very quirky!
The latest Apple M3 chip is very fast, very impressive. Too bad that it is terrible for gaming. And 3D modeling too.
If it doesn't run DOOM its not worth owning! I used to play Unreal Tournament on OS9 too, albiet with limited framerate! Warcraft II and Starcraft were some of my favorites too!
Doom 1 & 2, Marathon, YDKJ, Carmageddon: The Carpocalypse, Sim City (of the many different versions), Bedlam, Maelstrom and Escape Velocity are my favourites.
Great list! That Warcraft II sound of axes hitting the town hall is forever deeply embedded in my brain :)
Yes i like the film Doom !
Yay! I'm glad someone else does too!
Civ is my favorite and I install it on every classic Mac I own
I like your videos
Myst is still my #1
I remember when Myst came out that there was a backlash against it by gaming "purists" for some reason. I was just a kid at the time but i bought into it and therefore never played it but after watching this vid, I'll rectify that mistake 😁
These are great! And for me perfect timing as I just got my Wallstreet G3 up and running again. It would be great if you kept these types of videos coming, perhaps a 10 best city Builder games etc. Thanks!
So many good memories, Thanks!
thank you for this video, it helped me so thumbs up .
I agree thought I would watch 10 mins , I watched the lot and boy am I glad I did , excellent instruction, I feel a bit stupid I thought the solder went on the iron and was transferred ,, derrr !!
Thanks for the info I enjoyed the video
Also, do you have a vid on "reballing"? I have managed to get an old Mac going by putting the board in the oven to fix a dry joint, but wouldn't dare to try to remove and replace the CPU.
Oh, Should have waited ........ I'll go and find that vid.
