Recapping is regularly seen as the solution to all problems when it comes to repairing vintage computers. But sometimes, recapping doesn't do the trick. Dan from the Canadian Computer Collector has sent me his Macintosh Colour Classic which has been recapped but still isn't working. In this video I go through some important steps that will hopefully get this dead computer running again.

I’ve literally watched 5 vids on the trot , best soldering tips and repair channel I have found 😊
I love step 14 particularly!
Convincing me to re-inspect my board just helped me save a vintage mac GPU. I had replaced some caps that were starting to go bad on it, but when I plugged it back in, I had lines all over the display. Turns out I had accidentally bridged two of the pins on a VRAM IC. Cleared that up and I'm back in action!
Your content is just awesome, brethren.
Just what I needed when despairing over my Macintosh Classic's analog board. And logic board too, probably, but one problem at a time..
Excellent video, a must see!! Your eyes can be the best diagnostic tool! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you mate. Enthusiasts might know how to recap but yeah not were to go when it fails. Like the comedy you two have 🤣
Love it. I'll add via checkups to my mental lists of things to go over in the future.
Hello my brother, great to see you.
This is a great primer. Excellent job!
Hey Bruce!!! Currently sitting on a 6300 CD with a bad power board... the pain. If only the caps had been the problem. 🖖
exellent blend of knowledge and Humour. i shall use these tips for diagnosing my classic II and one day Make it do more than be a very expensive Table Lamp
Thorough and concise, this will be an excellent video for anyone who works on vintage boards. The time and thought you put into recording and editing your videos really shows!
Great Info that was a intersing fix Bruce I’m Sure Dan will be happy to get his color classic board back
She's been on a long holiday! Haha. I am in no rush though.
Great points will use them.
Great video Bruce thanks
Fantastic summary of troubleshooting steps for malfunctioning boards, whether it be computers, console, arcade boards. Thanks!
Excellent list of inspection and repair tips. Love the comoradery with our friends from Canadia.
I attempted my first recap earlier this year, on an LC575. I thought I did a pretty good job, everything looked ok. Turns out I installed all the tantalum caps backward. It’s now become a winter project, for those cold nights when the sun sets at 5:30.
Lucky you didn’t end up with a cracker night. Those tantalum’s make excellent fireworks if abused.
fantastic step by step instructions :)
I still think Bruce is using my credit card.
This new iPhone is awesome!
Great video !
🤣🤣 this is gold!
Love how informative and beneficial your videos are!
Lots of great tips. One question: which UV solder mask and UV laser would you recommend?
GOLD!!
Hey Bruce. Allot of these 21st century Chinese caps in mid range hi if gear are scary mediocre crap!
Japanese capacitors like Panasonic, Elna, Nichicon etc. last for decades.
Not to mention the bloody counterfeit caps that have managed to end up on some quality motherboards.
🤣Great stuff
Would finger nail polish work in place of the UV solder mask? I'm not sure I need enough to use the whole thing but do have nail polish around the house.
If all else fails, watch Branchus Creations Live streams. Or take a break and feed the chickens.
Hi Bruce, I havent had any luck with getting through on your website? I have a few Macs I would like to be recapped and diagnosed. How Can I get in contact with you and put in a hjob request for each one of the macs I need worked on?
Bieber!
