the moment she gave it to you it's yours. "what's far from the eyes far from the heart" you just get use to it.
expoxy glue the scrap in and it will flex even less
I thought about that, but decided against it simply because of their exchange policy!
well done!
Thanks!
So... you made a jig... to make jigs?
Yep. It has been helpful in making new ones too! 😂
It’ll never be yours. The memories make it your most valuable hammer though.
Absolute truth right there brother. Thanks
People bought them and they bought a lot of them, but the company went out of business?
It’s hard to get everything into a short video. The company’s business model was to be a middleman between a maker with something to sell and people who want to buy from them. There were several people they were working with, but I was the only one whose material was selling. Selling just my stuff was not enough to keep the lights on.
should fold up in the other direction, under the table where you can't step on them.
I thought about it but then the wheels would either need to be wider than the base, which would be a real trip hazard, or moved closer to be narrower than the base, which would make it unstable on the wheels. This was the easiest, safest, way - especially since I was just retrofitting an older piece. And it’s not a tripping hazard because they are narrower than the infeed and outfeed tables
@@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork just add cut-outs next to the base of the vertical 2x6s so the wheels slot in on the outside of the horizontal 2x6s.
@@creepyloner1979 that would require too much work for this - there is storage I use here and the whole base would need to be redesigned. Not really worth it for a non-issue
It becomes yours when you pay the IRS $$$$$ for it.
😂😂 Fair enough!
This solves the issue of not having enough infeed in combination with my miter gauge, on larger boards. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it’s helpful brother! 🙌
good on you! My Etsy shop for metal is taking off, too. Best of luck!
Congratulations!! That’s awesome!
2 parts poly 1 part mineral spirits
That’s a good mix!
So they are no longer made by you?
We’ve done a big circle - I had to hire someone to make the bulk orders I needed to complete and now we are leveled out and I’m back to making them.
Americans pronouncing Melbourne is always funny. Mel-burn Not Mel-born/barn/ban haha
But it’s spelled ‘Bourne’ like the Bourne identity books! And honestly that is the way we are all taught to pronounce it. There is a town near me named Chili. It’s pronounced Chai-lye. 🤷♂️
I'm sure at some point in the past it was intended to be pronounced that way. But we got on the piss pretty hard. 🤠🍺
@@SkiesEye 😂😂 love it!! 🙌
You contradicted yourself. A few years ago , you had it. But you only knew of it a couple of years ago
I saw it a few years ago I thought it was cool I wanted it Fast forward a few years and I got this one from MTC
I would say it absolutely changes the game. The amount of time it saves, changes the game! Time is our most valuable asset.
I can’t argue with that - I say it all the time!
Beautiful what is the joint called?
I never did find out!
This is my first time seeing one. Now I have to get one.
I absolutely love having it! It’s both fun and works really well
Form vs function. Looks nice, feels nice, wife with kids mucking it up all day & having to clean it out with a butter knife & a cloth may not appreciate the "craftsmanship".
I think the butter knife may be a bit excessive, by I get your point. I still prefer it with it.
I lost my dad a little over a year ago. They are all still "his tools"; "his tool room". Probably always will be unless I but the tool myself -- even the ones my mom said I could have after the fact.
Sorry for your loss, man. I'm glad that you have those tools to remind you of him and what you learned at his side!
When you buy a tool directly - it's yours. :P
Nice, I been looking for something like this too, Ty for sharing
Glad to help!
What kind of screws did you use for the knobs?
I hope you wasn’t trying to say Melbourne because as an Australian if you was it’s a no from me eddy If this help it’s pronounced Mel-Ben No need for the o u r
I’ve had quite a few people tell me that I’ve said it wrong, but I’m not from Australia. This is how I learned to say it in Pennsylvania!
Never
why? just get a power router
The drum sander can do precision depth of cut.
Good point!
Good on you brother. A useful product that plenty of people need to make the things we buy and use every day. The way you did it is best for you. Hire someone, train and pay them and then sell the product yourself. You take more risk and have more upfront cost but it leaves more meat on the bone to make it worth your while
Thanks brother! It worked out really well, but now I’m back to making them myself until I decide im overwhelmed again! I’m behind on orders now
@@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork atleast that is the best problem to have . That means you're making a good product. That's always a hard decision between doing the work your self and delegating the task to someone else. Keep up the hard work !!
@@danchris4287 thanks man! 🙌
Bloody good luck you mate, I really hope you make a fortune, I tried to make one they are really good. Im in New Zealand so post is a huge problem to get one of yours over here.
Thanks brother! It’s been crazy! I’m hoping to start selling some plans for them too!
The *cast iron* router plane was invented then. Wooden versions had been around for hundreds of years before that, if not longer. But yes, that's a very neat version! It's kinda like a hybrid of the old wood ones and the cast iron. I like the straight blade. Very cool!
That’s definitely what I should have said! This has been so much fun to use!
Love this. Good for you brother! Everyone should support small business when possible. Corporate greed is wildly out of hand.
And I’m trying to keep the cost as low as possible! It’s been a crazy ride
Never, it will be your hammer when your Grandson inherits it from you
That’s a crazy thought!
Could you set up a jig for a power plane? Makita or DeWalt
Maybe. It would be fun to try
Great idea! I spend all my time making jigs, but I don’t have time to make anything else.😂
That’s where I am right now too!
@@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork lol

I like it didn't know it existed till now
Glad to help! 😁🙌
Look up "old woman's tooth"
Wood planner was inveted thousands of years ago. Someone patenet a specific design in 1800. Get educated man before blurbing out stuff.
I have earned the respect of my neighbors and regained the use of my back porch thanks to this video.
😂😂 that’s the best!
Basically he saying use your tool the most comfortable safe way for you
As long as you’re following general safety guidelines! That’s obviously important but the number of times I hear somebody tell me that you can’t use the tablesaw with the fence on that side is amazing to me
Never
I think I’m ok with that!
Thats slick. Gonna make one today 😂
It’s so great! How did yours go?
Clever!!
Thank you!
The hammer will out live you. And it will still be "grampa's hammer". And also, just a plain old hammer.
Yes to both and I’m honestly good with that!! 🙌
I had this dilemma when my dad passed and I inherited all of his stuff. This is going to sound like a non-answer but I really mean it. But I just decided one day. It took a while but eventually it was my stuff. I still occasionally call at my dad's stuff as well. But that just feels like a ship of Theseus. It's his and it's mine. But ultimately it's mine, and it became mine when I chose that it was mine now. But that's just me.
I like that answer! I think that really is it - you have to decide. Thanks
@@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork Thanks I appreciate it. I've learned that there's a lot of things in life that kind of work this way. Not trying to talk your ear off but you might like this story. Back when I was in the military I was a computer guy and we would refer to the more experienced and knowledgeable guys as gurus. And I was wondering what it was that differentiated everyone else from the gurus. Cuz I'm not entirely sure it was the skill itself. So I just started saying I was one of the gurus. I wasn't lying. I had the skills. But nobody was calling me a guru. So I started saying it, and I became a guru. Everyone else started lumping me in with the other gurus. I have countless stories like this. Ones that seem odd to an honest person at first glance. Like lying about having a particular skill and then just learning on the job. That sounds bad. But I have several stories where that was the right and correct thing to do. And I had genuine crisis of Faith over this because it didn't feel like it was supposed to be right. But there is an odd truth to be found in weird lessons like this. Evel Knievel was the best because he said so. He obviously had skills. But I'm sure if we really tried we could find somebody better. But no, he really became who he was just because he decided to be that. It's not Magic. But it's not wrong either. There is a genuine reality in just making something true because we will it be. Especially when you're on that line you first mentioned. Between yours and his.
@@VagabondTE you became a guru because you had the skills to back it up. It’s always about both saying it and backing it up! 🙌🙌
always known this as an old womans tooth
Could you make your links clickable. Getting to this followup was a pain!
I like the idea of moving the hose to the top, but...is the volume of air the same with your extractor on as with the fan and the extractor?
I’m honestly not sure what you mean - the motor stays cool and the dust is collected! 😁🙌
first time ive seen it...SUPER cool
It’s so much fun!!
Just use a electric router
Melbun!! Well done!! Your Australian citizenship paperwork is in the post
😂😂 Thanks!!
