Finally learnt some NEW Greenland Rolls with the Rebel Greenland T.
Up till now, I've only been able to do the Standard Greenland Roll and I could not progress so much even with lots of practice. It was a little disheartening that I only had the one roll. Now I have received the Rebel Greenland T, I felt more confident to try different Greenland Rolls!

testing sprint speed on a touring setup seems a little odd. Would seem that a more realistic comparison would be miles per day not miles per hour and may reverse the result
Congrats, love how you document your progress and share with everyone with a positive attitude. A bit more tugging and holding your pivot hand steady will encourage torsal rotation over relying/pulling on the paddle.
Thanks for the tip! I just saw your channel and I will be watching them tonight!
Brilliant, love the rolls and the big grin. I find forward finishing rolls so hard, i just repeat "look down" over and over to stop lifting ny shoulder
I’ll have to keep practicing it.. I noticed I’m not bending to do a crunch. I need to practice more so that my body remembers to do it. Thanks for watching as always!
Great work, Fantastic progress. I bet the fit of the Rebel boat feels so much better than your pakayak. So funny when you stopped due to the rain!
Thanks! I also laughed at myself for getting out of the water once it started to rain… it didn’t make sense haha
Have you watched any Paulo Oullet videos? I think you may find them to be helpful.
Yes I follow him and love his videos! I think I’ve seen them all haha
Congrats. Rolling is still on my to do bucket list. I have taken two clinics to try and learn it…came close but still not there.
Thanks! When you do your first roll, you’ll have the AHA moment! Keep trying!
I'm encouraged and inspired by your progress! Good work!
Thank you!
Wow!! I'm impressed Chad 👍👍. What a progression with your new and "real" kayak. Keep practising and you are going to be better than me at the end of the year. Next step is to do the rolls on both sides. Also practise balance brace and sculling, that will help you a lot. Congratulations! 👏
Thanks Jonas! Like you suggested, I think I’ll stick with these three rolls and learn to roll from the other side first before moving on to more :)
Awesome job buddy, you hit it out of the park, some bloody good rolls and great to see you're trying out different techniques. You should have a go at the no paddle roll (can't remember the correct name) But let go of the paddle and just use your hips and legs. Something I learned 20 years ago and before you ask NO I can't do it anymore (to many injuries + old man now lol) Great video and a lovely looking kayak.
Thank you! I can’t imagine rolling without a paddle.. something I will aim for down the track!
@@Fishaholicboy to be honest it's not too hard it's just timing and momentum. As soon as you start to roll use your hips and thighs and push yourself to keep going. Now I don't know if it's possible in a sea kayak as I learned to do it in a smaller boat about 8 feet if memory serves. But I don't see why not contacting a sea kayak is not as wide. If you do try it can't wait to see the video 👍
@@THE-RIVER-RAT now I have to try it! 😂 next time on the water, I’ll gift it a go!
I really like that boat! This really shows how the right gear can foster progress. Great work!
The kayak definitely helped! Having tried a few different kayaks to roll, this one is by far the easiest to roll
Nice looking paddle, the views aren't bad either 👌
Appreciate it!
Very nice 👍
Thank you 👍
Great to see👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Butterfly is my favorite
I can see why the butterfly roll is your favourite!
Do you mind sharing the places?
well, you're starting to look like all the other experts I use to watch to try to learn how. you're my hero, great accomplishment.
Hehe thanks Bill! I think I’ll stick with these few rolls and learn to do it on the other side before moving on to others :)
beautiful rolls!
Thank you! Many more rolls to learn :)
Pakayak is $2000 while tucktec is $350.
Thanks for watching.. yes, the prices have changed which is nice!
the difference is probably in the paddle. Unless that surfski is longer or narrower or both.
I was not used to the narrower surski.. was quite the challenge. I tried it again recently and it was definitely better.
I would have bought the Trak 2, but my butt didn't fit on the seat. I have been sitting on the plastic left and right of the seat. Eventually I have bought the Pakayak Bluefin 142. I have no problems paddling long distances and my butt fits on the seat. Always test a kayak before you buy it. And don't buy it if it doesn't fit. For example I would not have bought the first Pakayak, the Bluefin 14, as the cockpit has not supported persons taller than 1,7 m.
Oh I didn’t realise the first Pakayak had a shorter cockpit. Definitely should try all kayaks before buying if possible!
How was the Akiak 220cm length for you and the Pakayak? Did you ever wish you had gone with the the longer (230cm) paddle?
I actually got the 230cm Kalleq and it’s a good length for long distance. But I realised I prefer the shorter paddles as it’s more agile and I can react quicker for braces, etc. it’s also personal preference. The 220cm is an all rounder and don’t think you can go wrong with it. Hope it helps!
Insta360 isn't water proof. How do you avoid it getting wet or if the suction cup fails and it goes for a swim? Is it decently water resistant?
In this video I’m using the insta360 x2 and it can go underwater up to 10m.. I didn’t use anything special with it and was able to capture videos underwater too. You can get an underwater case for precautions. For the suction cup, I just tie it to the deck lines. Fortunately I haven’t had the suction cup come off yet!
WoW! a new toy! Congrats!
Haha yes! Found a great place to store kayaks so I decided to get a normal hardshell kayak! Lots of fun
Great job! If you just make sure your head is the last thing to leave the water (kayak first), you’ll be great! 👏👍
Thanks for the tip! I’ll need to practice more!
I could have told you it would be like that. Anyone that look at the weather properly could forecast that😂
Haha I think I need to consult you before I head out each time!
@@Fishaholicboy 🤣 no man, you need to check the radar for the build up. Or get windy , it will tell you pretty what time that would happen location specific 🤙🏼
Wow - that's the weather we have here exactly now, but I'm on land. Good reminder to be weather prepared!
That means no kayaking for you this weekend? 🥲 the weather got pretty serious at one point but I didn’t record it.. got really nervous too.
@@Fishaholicboy Yeah, when it gets really bad, either have the camera on and let it running, or no time to film at all, important to focus. Good call. No kayaking for me this weekend - but I'm actually resting, I paddled in three cities in one day earlier this week, and then went for another 21 km paddle the day before yesterday. My body appreciates the calm weekend, but at least I went for a hike today 🙂 Glad things went well in the end!
@@AirOnTheWater yeah you need to get some rest too! Gives you more energy for paddling later
@@Fishaholicboy Good way to look at it!
you will find easier to do back-laying rolls v. Trak kayaks and their higher rear deck. Beautiful kayak!
I plan to do some rolling sessions soon! Like you said, it should be better to do back deck rolls :)
Is it epoxy or polyester resin?
Not so sure… I remember they mixed two liquids together so most likely epoxy? I’m clueless with these things 😅
WOW, How long is that kayak? Good to have storage by the water.
It’s 5.4m with a width of 54cm. My longest kayak this far and I’m still adjusting with the stability 😅 I found a great place to store the kayak so I’m happy
Lovely boat. Reed make great kayak clothing and offer brilliant service.
Reed was amazing with their communication! They made a custom skirt for me for the Rebel and it fits perfectly. They are a really good business for sure.
Congratulations, can wait to see this in action. 🎉
Thank you! I’ll make some videos soon. I posted a video on my instagram with the rebel. My profile is fishaholicboy_kayaking if you want to take a peak
Congrats on the new boat, mate! It’s beautiful! I’m so excited for you! Can’t wait to see it on the water!
I paddled with it and I’m loving it! Will make videos soon. I already posted a reel on my instagram. Profile name fishaholicboy_kayaking

Definitely a long kayak :)
Congrats! Can't beat a new kayak day!
That’s for sure!
Actually your Pakayak was a hard-shell kayak, just that it was modular. This one is more like your first monolithic / one-piece hard shell kayak. Anyway, congrats!:)
Haha you’re so right! How could I miss that!
Congratulations!!
Thanks!
glad you had better luck with them than I did and love the new kayak. I'll imagine you'll be doing a video about. also, very impressed how they shipped it.
Yes, I’ll make a video of the video soon!
This will be a game changer for you my friend. A beautiful kayak! A small advice is to install a “keel strip”, will help you keep it nice and beautiful longer. And an Eastpole paddle? I have one, they are also very nice. More like a piece of art. And now you really can get into rolling 👍🏻😄
A wooden paddle definitely feels different to carbon.. and you’re right, the Eastpole is beautiful! I have no excuses now for not improving my rolling 😆
Reed makes some of the best kayaks and this is a beautiful looking boat. But I have a question you have mentioned lots of time in your videos that you don't have much space in your home that's why you buy kayaks that fold or stack like the PakAyaK because they're easy to store. Well I don't think this will be easy to store do you. Looking forward to your next video though to see it on the water and get a really good look at her but first impressions it's a nice looking boat.
I really liked the kayaking facility and they have a kayak rack for me to store so I decided to get a full kayak and store it there :) I will make a video of the kayak soon! I used it on the water yesterday and I loved it!
@@Fishaholicboy That's great news about the storage as I did wonder. Can't wait to see it on the water buddy 👍👍
@@THE-RIVER-RAT if you use instagram, you can see a few pictures and reels of my on the rebel kayak! My profile name is fishaholicboy_kayaking
@@Fishaholicboy Don't have Instagram never used it. But thanks for the info
No worries.. I’ll make a video with the rebel soon!
Congratulations! It is so beautiful! I already sit in that model too, but was way too small for me 🙂 Even my axx fit in, my legs just showed half way over the kayak's border ;-) Happy rolling!
It was hard for me to get in haha my feet is a little cramped but other than that, it’s ok. I may remove the foot pedals.. I’ll see :)
I just bought the stellar g214 modulat 3 piece yak. Live in condo and dont want to pay storage fees
Completely understand about storage. How are you enjoying the modular Stellar?
Have to wait for 2025. But from what ive heard its hard to tell the difference from a standard stellar in one piece construction.
I saw a few videos about the 3 piece.. it looks sweet.
Hi, I've been paddling the Rebel Greenland T for 5 years. It's the best kayak I've ever owned. I was invited to the factory to pick it up and see how this handmade work of art is finished and polished. I wish you many wonderful moments with the Greenland T kayak. Of course, make sure to use a Greenland paddle 🫡
I would love to visit their factory too. It must’ve been quite the experience! I used the Rebel T today and I loved it so much. I am sure I will keep it enjoying it. And yes, definitely using a Greenland paddle. I’ve put up some posts here on Instagram: instagram.com/fishaholicboy_kayaking
@@Fishaholicboy Yes, it was an amazing experience. I live 100 km from the Rebel factory, so it's very close for me ☺️. The people working there are wonderful. Greetings to Bartek from Rebel 👋. He spent a lot of time talking to me about the Greenland T. You will be very satisfied; it looks fantastic on the water 👌.
Wow!!! that's so cool. Would love to have one but storage will be an issue. Looking forward to see future videos about this hard-shell version.
Storage was always an issue for me too but after finding this kayaking facility with storage, I decided to go ahead with it. I’ll be making videos of the Rebel Greenland T for sure!
Congratulations, now you can catch up with us
Still can’t keep up with you guys! Need to train harder!
This is how I wrap Christmas presents…
Haha! 4-5 layers? It was quite a process to unwrap 😅
@@Fishaholicboy - I also stick the wrapping paper to the present, just to make it extra fun to open. Great early-Christmas present to yourself though!
The receiver of your gifts must have a lot of fun unwrapping 😂😂
@@Fishaholicboy - If you mean “difficulty” when you say “fun”, then yes. I like a nice secure wrapping on things.
Rebel kayaks are beautiful, congratz and enjoy!
I took it out after the unboxing and I love it so much! Definitely a fun kayak. The build quality is also amazing
@@Fishaholicboy i thought that you bought a surfski, but when you said you also bought a wooden greenland paddle it had to be something else. Could have known with all your rolling practices. Looking forward to your next video.
tried it, design is 2/10, quality materials 10/10…. it actually sucks, why are the compartment in the sides instead of the front???
Hi! The sides make it easier to access the Bilge pump and float. There are many other types of deck pods which might fit better for your needs.
