  • Pakayak vs Trak 2.0 Kayak - Speed Test using Greenland Paddles.
One of my best performing video was the test between a Greenland Paddle and the Euroblade on the Pakayak. This time, I tested the Trak 2.0 vs the Pakayak while using a Greenland Paddle to see the speed difference. I used the Gearlab Akiak for the previous test while I used the Gearlab Ipik with the Trak 2.0. Let's see how fast the Trak 2.0 really is! ‪@gearlaboutdoors2594‬

Great test. In essence it gives a good comparison and it looked a tough paddle towards the end. Thanks for posting the video.

Fun on the water for sure... A very interesting and fun comparison... Watching your videos always makes me more aware of what I'm doing on the water... Even in my little recreational kayak. Peace

Wow, I wonder if the shape of the Trak's slim bow and hull design is what may make it feel faster than the Pakayak. The bow and stern of the boat is really slender to slice through the water and creates less drag which probably makes it faster especially in conditions. The Trak definitely seems more like a performance kayak that can handle rougher conditions and waves. The Pakayak seems like it fits within the recreation/performance category. I like the round chime on the Pakayak as it edges nicely, but the wide bow and stern may not perform as well in conditions (doesnt really cut through the water as well as a boat with a bow with slimmer design). Also I'd be curious to know how much wind, current and user effort/fatigue can add or shave off time. Not sure, but it looks like you had some nice flat water for the Pakayak test and some current for the Trak test. I really love the benefits of both boats as they are designed for different conditions. They really are both great kayaks! As always, love your videos and commentary. I wonder if a speed test with a euro blade might be coming up!😄

I honestly think the main variable is me, the paddler. I agree with you, both of these are great kayaks and serves different purposes!

@@Fishaholicboy Yes, it must be a pretty awesome feeling showcasing progression with a wide range of kayaks - all while educating and sharing your adventures and having fun. I know for me, I feel a little bit more comfortable in different conditions and also become more aware of things I need to learn with every season. I never knew experiencing new places and adventures from a kayak would be such an awesome way to enjoy the journey!

Hi! It really depends on what you’re comfortable with and your experience level. I found it stable as soon as I got on.. if you have a chance to try it, would be a good way to test it!

To be honest I would have thought the Trak would have been a lot faster than the PakAyaK.
You poor sod you looked like you where going to have a heart attack. Hope you're ok.

Haha did you hear me grunt a few times? Thinking more about it, I was fitter when I was using the Pakayak. Being away from kayaking for about 1.5 years really impacted my overall fitness. I’ll get it back!
