My first GREENLAND KAYAK ROLLING lesson!

- Regular viewers of this channel will know that I've been obsessing about Greenland Kayak Rolling but I never had a lesson as I could not find anyone who taught this in Hong Kong. BUT, I found finally someone to give me my first Greenland Kayak Rolling lesson.
Woody and I connected on CZcams and I believe he is only one of the few who Hong Kong who excels in Greenland Kayak Rolling. If there are others, please let us know! He kindly offered to provide me my first Greenland rolling lesson and of course, I was ecstatic and took his offer immediately.

I had rolling lessons with Woody before. He's a marvelous coach. He taught from the basics, and adjust to learner's individual needs. I'm eagerly waiting for his intermediate classes 👍

Definitely found the right person.. and he's such a great guy too! I hope to improve my rolling but realistically, it will take time :)
@@Fishaholicboy For a very few, rolling comes easily. For the rest of us, not so much. I spent maybe two years trying to do the storm roll. At this point it's strong on my right side but.... I can't do it at all on my left :(

I appreciate seeing someone doing greenland rolling in something that is not a greenland or sea kayak, in other words in a kayak like mine. I always thought a balance brace in my kayak was not possible now I see it is.
I've always been told not to blame the kayak.. and I still blame the kayak! haha
Woody's rolls look so graceful and effortless. I believe in a few months, you will be as good as Woody! Thanks for the video.
It was amazing to see all the rolls in real life.. it's just a completely different thing seeing it on a small device vs in person. I would give myself a few years to be as good as Woody :)

Funny enough I was just speaking with Woody the instructor and I was saying I'd be happy if I could manage 3 of the rolls! Hopefully we'll see some progression videos :)

I think Woody was born without a spine judging by how easily he can bend around his boat. Awesome stuff.
He is definitely very flexible but he stretches all the time.. I'm starting to stretch more often but don't get very far

You found an instructor, Woody who looks pretty slender... a pair of swimming goggles and a nose clip(reminds me of synchronized swimming😂) really make sense. You got this@4:12!!! A lesson learned is "Proper Training" with a partner. I didn't see any of your kayak float bags this time, though. Look forward to your next video. 🛶😎
haha yeah, I didn't use the float bag as I had Woody to support me through the whole process which was great!

Very difficult to achieve. Impressive
I didn't manage to do any rolls without support but it was ALOT of fun.. I going to blame my kayak for not being able to advance in the rolls 😂😂
Interesting way to start your first roll, looks so difficult, but guess it means you start with good habits.
Definitely.. already have really bad habits and needed to reset and do a proper session.
Just curious as to what you have found the greatest advantages of the slimmer Greenland paddle over a larger one that gives you more traction ?
Hi! The surface area of the GP and the EURO is actually very similar :) I'd say that biggest advantage is that it's not as tiring when you paddle with the GP.. it's easier on the shoulders. But it's all personal preference.. but one of the things that first got me interested in the GP is that it's the traditional paddle used by the Inuits before the Euroblade existed.

It's going to get expensive! haha. I dropped my Gopro 9 in the sea last year and it was painful. Now I use the GoPro 10 and Insta360 One X2. I actually have a video on how I mount my cameras here: czcams.com/video/fh97xuL-YxY/video.html I hope you find this useful!
