Hi Alison, I have moved to sessions 11-20 and ordered the books that go along with those lessons. I think there is two books, but I only received the download for one? I sent an email to the distribution center but no reply so far? Could you please check and let me know? Thank you, Gary
Hi Gary, I can see you have already downloaded the books, so can you check in your downloaded file again please because if you have one of the books, you'll have the other as they are in the same folder - you couldn't have one without the other. There is one download and both books are in that download. Ive just downloaded the books from your actual account to see what you would be getting and its all downloaded correctly with both books. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Alison
Hi I m want to learn piano
i am 2000 year old cention being who just discovered your channel after never playing the violin ive enjoyed learning with you. if i can do anyone can
Best❤
Nice to see a new video 😁 waiting for my violin to come in. I’m learning a lot from you. Thanks for your good videos
I got out of my violin class during covid, and now, to prepare for trying to get back in a class, I am relearning the violin
❤❤❤Love the way that you teach others to play the violin or Piano 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dear @ Torie, its fairly simple. Gently slack all your strings but remember your soundpost could fall so be careful! Keep the instrument flat. Next unhook all your strings. Remove them coil them around your wrist place in envelope and save. Place a cardbord under the tailpiece to prevent scratches. Remove chin rest. Take thumb and circle around tail gut and remove tailpice from around end button. Next plce middle finger and index around end button and gently wiggle and pry out end button. It may be tight or it could be loose it depends on humidity. Save all parts. Take high intensity light and place over f hole and look inside end button hole. Do you see the sound post? Is it still upright? Is there dust inside? Are there any light leaks in the seams? Those are glue cracks. After inspection and providing soundpost hasnt toppled reinstall end button. If its loose wrap some cigarette paper around the shaft and reinsert to hole. Place loop of tailpiece around end button. Reconnect the strings. Reconnect the chin wrest. Bring strings back up to tension with elctronic tuner. Youve just completed your first inspection of the i terior of your violin. If any of this seems too scarey take your violin to your favorite lutier and have them do all this for you. It willbe expensive. Or you may have a friend who is a lutier who would be willing to do this for you. It depends on your situation. A high school orchestra teacher might be able to do this for you for nominal cost or maybe even for free. Violins are very sensitive and delicate and at the same time a pain in the rear! Violins are very capricious and difficult. That is the nature of this instrument. There is a reason why they call the violin a fiddle, its because it drives you mad with all its idiosyncrcys! Stay with it do not be discouraged! If you really love the violin and are patient and gentle with it it may let you make it sing! If you dont have a chromatic electronic tuner i would suggest you purchase one as it will help you tune quicker while you get aquainted with your instrument. Clean your bow hairs with a clean toothbrush. Gently brush up and down to remove grease and wax from the hairs. If your bow is ravaged by mites spray some raid insect killer on a paper towel and place in violin case. This should kill all the mites snacking on your precious bow hairs. You may have to buy a new bow or have your old bow rehaired. You can do this yourself to save money but you will have to buy the horse hair from a lutier. Natural creamy white unbleached Siberian or Mongolian horsehair is best. Some say Japanese horsehair is the finest.MONGOLIAN HORSEHAIR IS PREFERRED And sealing wax and silk thread are what you use to tie the ends together to form a plug which gets jabbed into the mortice at each end of the bow. Then you can melt some sealing wax into each mortice to glue in the hair. Just a few drops will do. It is not easy to rehair a bow. You will have to dampen the hairs after half hitching with silk and putting a few drops of sealing wax on each end.it must be slim in order for the hair plug to be inserted into the mortice. Consult the internet for proper instruction. Ive done this only once successfully the other times i got the hairs too long in order to draw up the tension. There should be 288 hairs in a full horse hair bow. Others will dissagree but that is what i counted when rehaired my antique bow and the full set of hairs made my great grandfathers violin come to life! Its not easy but it is doable and you will learn that the bow is the most important part of the violin. I used black horse hair which seemed perfectly adequate for my beginning career as an amateur violinist. Happy struggling with rehairing your bow or not its your choice.😅
Thank you Alicen, Roth Waller had a #3 demonstrator chin rest that my mom bought for me and was fairly comfortable. Im glad you seem happy with your German criss cross quilted pattern chin rest. Originally my great grandfathers cremony copy had a slim kidney shaped hard rubber chin rest that was I think Ideal for me because it was low profile.make new friends but keep the old that is the addage for chin rests. I feel. Yes it should hold up the violin, but paramount to that is that it should be comfortable under your chin.😅
Can you give a demonstration of a triplet or triple stop? Thanks very much!😅
Hi Alicin! It's been several months since I've viewed your channel. I've a few questions I was hoping you.might be able to answer. Number one, is it more important to have good bridge contact or is string length more important? Thanks for any information. C.e. usa. 6 29 24.😅
These are great tips. I started playing at 10 years old and played through college. I was a piano performance minor. After college, I got busy with life. It has been about a decade since I last played, and I'd love to be able to play like I used to.
Omg u are my new teacher
Hello Alison! My dad, bought me a violon Stunden II Stentor on a site for 225€ could I have you’re advice about it please ?
Hello! I saw in a Site a violon Stentor Student II for 225€, Can I buy it ?
Thank you for the upload!
I'm 36 and I love learning. Never played an instrument before, so I decided to go big and grab the Fantom EX 8 (Probably not the wisest choice). I can't tell you how mad I would have been if I didn't even play it a lot after spending all of that money. Fortunately, I put in dozens of hours over the past couple of weeks. Before that, I didn't know how to play the piano and picked up Playground Sessions last year and did a few lessons on the old piano. I was really frustrated with how long each video was that I had to watch on my tablet, when all I wanted to do is learn how to play. I've since bit the bullet and purchased Skoove and made a lot of progress. I had the app for 2 weeks and I can play with both hands, play chords, and accidentals, though, at 60% of the song's original tempo for the more complicated pieces with quarter notes and etc. I think within 6 months, I should be at 100% tempo. And yeah, they teach you with sheet music, so that would allow me to play Christmas music come the holidays, if I can get my tempo up. So why am I at your channel? Well, it appears that playing acoustic instruments on the keyboard is my thing. However, you can't play the guitar or a violin like a piano player. You have to understand the chord limitations. I even looked at the saxophone on there too and just found out a couple of weeks ago that the saxophone is a single-note instrument. As a piano player, who has to read 2 clefs, I almost went straight to Amazon to pick up that instrument (thinking that I can have a mastered instrument under my belt in a couple of weeks), but I was told that while reading the sheet music is easy, the saxophone is hard to blow. So, that kind of get me back around to the violin. I think most instruments are difficult in different ways. The piano has very difficult sheet music. The violin is hard to sound good with initially. And then the saxophone is hard to blow. I do feel like some violinists hurt the industry at times by joking about how bad someone would sound still after playing for 10 years. From what I read, you can sound decent with a violin in as little as a month. I think most people can work with that. Lastly, I love the articulations of the violin. However, being on the keyboard, I thought I was a bit limited. However, I got smart and I located a violin .midi file from the internet and loaded it on my piano and I was impressed. They did the tremolo and even a ricochet, though I don't think the original artist meant to do a ricochet. Too many notes were played at a given time (for the ricochet), so it sounded pretty harsh on the ears. Even though the articulations were pretty good, I'm not the biggest fan of the timbre options that my keyboard provides. I'm kind of leaning toward buying Chris Hein's stuff: chrishein.net/solo-violin.html I believe it sounds well. I also have a recording of my piano playing that midi file if you care to hear how that sounds. I look forward to watching your videos. You have a lot of subscribers, but it appears that CZcams isn't giving you the views you deserve. I think you might do well to watch TwoSetViolin and Ray Chen channels to see how they are grabbing a ton of views. I'm not sure if that's in your personality though. They are very talented violinists that rarely play the violin these days (well, on CZcams, I think do perform live in front of an audience at times still). Odd, right? They do reaction videos and etc and they get millions of views a year. You can also be like violinist Taylor Davis and play the violin for millions of views. I think unfortunately, because of the terrible reputation of the violin being impossible to learn, fewer and fewer people are interested in learning, making education only channels not as profitable to run as they once were.
Aaaah my violin should arrive next week, so I hope. I can't wait to take your lessons.
Thank you for explaining!
As a huge fan from India who is currently stuck in lesson 29. I want to know why my violin emits squeaky noises instead of sharp strong noises and the bow slips of the strings without any grip. Am I not rosining the bow enough or is it too much? There is also the formation of a rosin layer on the strings that I have to wipe out after every 2 or 3 minutes of playing. Please guide me Alison.
Thanks! This is brilliant! I had been practising diligently for an hour a day and currently stuck on some pieces....was thinking why i didnt make good progress despite practising it everyday😅 but i see what you mean now. I can try planning out what i want to achieve and practise more effectively....thanks Allison! Also as a newbie violin beginner, been hearing about scales, arpeggios and etude. When do you think these should be add in into a beginner's syllabus? I finished your lession 1to 10🥰 and will purchase your song books🥰. Was thinking if those song books will also add in practise for scale/arpeggios? Should i buy song book 1 first or should i buy bundle? I am serious about learning violin😊
Thanks!
Perhaps the best tutorial on vibrato on the internet.
It's a good idea to go straight and perpendicular even when sawing wood.
Ill try my best everyday to self teach myself violin 👀 wish me luck 😌
yall teachers dont teach yall how to have better posture and hold bow??
Really love the pallette of timbres you mix together! Could you please list the names of these awesome Boss FX pedals & do you know any good alternative to the now sadly discontinued Volto battery power unit? Your video has inspired me to shake the dust off my old Fender VF-1!
Fantastic ❤❤
I love my Pirastro Cadenza strings
hi!, i'm a young beginner violinist & your channel is really helpful, thank you ^^
Pliiz notes
Thank you. I get pain in my elbow and I think it's caused by tension in my shoulder
I need a violin course. I am a beginner
I assume this also applies for an electric/slient violin,
Even after 9 years, your violon video is still helpful. I've been wanting to learn to play an instrument like the piano. But I have a thing for violon too. I ended up purchasing an inexpensive black violon on Temu to try out. Watching your review really helped me set up my new violon. Thank you for sharing your educational skills with the CZcams community. 🤝
I need it quieter than that. My roommate will kill me
I like your videos. Hope you come back 😁
You’re awesome thank you this helped my daughter so much❤
Good to have you back, Alison ❤ I've already missed you!
Her book is worth every penny!
How do i play a song on the violin without needing to download the solfa notes, i find it difficult to detect with my ears😢
I hope to get a Violin by end of the year, it's always been my favourite instrument and I'd love to actually learn it.
In exercise 3, is that A2? Please reply
I'm Seventeen and I'm starting to save money to buy my first violin, so I'm here to learn everything so when i got one. Its not too difficult to understand this
Nice to see you again, are you still going to do the live videos?
