I am 58 years old and taking your course. I played briefly as a child but my family couldn't afford for me to continue so I felt the desire to pick it up again. I find your lessons very helpful and no time-line just progress at your own pace. I'm on lesson 7 and looking forward to completing your entire course.
God bless you and all the work you've put into this.
Thanks again,
Kimberly from the US
I am of student of yours, meaning, I have purchased your 1-30 course and it is AMAZING! I am still working my way through however, my progress is slow. My struggles are just real life issues such as work, family obligations taking priority. That being said, I love your program and everything you offer with it! Best course anyone will ever find on CZcams!
Keep it up as you can Kathy! I've got a stressful full-time job and primary care of 2 dogs and most household duties, but since August 2020, I'm working through lesson 25 and ready to move forward and also actively seeking a local teacher to continue beyond what Allison provides. Find/make time for what you decide is important to you!
Because of your videos I'm inspired to learn to play this string instrument even thought I'm almost 60 years old!
yes very often finding motivation to push yourself through trying to perfect so many skills which are necessary one at a time is the hardest skill of all to best and maintain. - But I still get a thrill out of creating a beautiful tone by pulling a bow across the strings (even if it's just a full bow exercise on an open string.) thanks for sharing your knowledge
Motivation received
I love your videos so much they are so helpful and you explain things so well. Thank you for putting them on CZcams. I am a visually impaired violinist. Can you give me some tips on how to properly bow on the violin when you can’t see what you were doing.
Ma'am, will you please guide me; how many notes in western violin music?
💯
You should do a Video on Beginner exercises, strumming, Finger placement movement etc. Unless it is already on your Paid Course! (Which I still plan on buying). It would be amazing to get a free sample type video from it. Cheers!
You can! You can watch Al the videos in the course to see what the course covers and teaches you and if you like my methods and style.
You’ll just need the books to be able to actually learn as the info is in the books and these videos are just an addendum to the books for extra explanation to make the course more interactive and also to demo the pieces and exercises you need to play.

Hey Allison, when do you recommend moving on in the lessons? I've been on the 3/4 finger exercises for months. I can play them just not fast. do I need to be able to play them to speed before I move on?
Well yes in this case. I do move students on if they sort of hit a road block as staying on the same thing for an excessive amount of time, then i would advise moving on a little to gain some more skill, then come back and revisit
just do NOT forget to come back fairly quickly.
You just need a little more skill in order to nail that particular part.
Another thing is Im trying to curve the bow as u suggested to do... But the thing is when the bow comes in a correct shape half of the bow hair hangs like anything...
oh... 1 more question. do you suggest always using the tuner to play even the exercises?
I think using the ear is better otherwise you will rely on technology too much.
I've the motivation; just need to get my instruments put together. Why they remove the bridge, I'll never understand.
Yesterday I almost broke my E string it is not getting tuned without reaching 600HZ it is getting tighter on 400 HZ
What to do please help

If I purchase the course, will it be online. The import duty on books is quite high

How do you practice violin or piano with such a long nails?😅
My nails are as short as they will go - granted they were a little long in this video as I had been away and not cut them, but only for this video. They have gone again now and are a short as can be now im back playing and working again :)
