Un dottor della mia sorte | The Barber of Seville
This aria is from Act 1 of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and takes place after Doctor Bartolo catches his ward Rosina in several lies. If The Barber of Seville were a modern musical this would be "the villain song".
My vocal type is contralto profondo and while this aria lies within my range, it's a little lower than my tessitura and some of the more difficult passages are performed an octave higher than written. I struggled with the very fast tongue twisting lyrics some 3/4ths of the way through and might revisit this song when I've improved my Italian a bit more. However, most of the song is performed as indicated in the score and, I think, well, so I hope you enjoy hearing this old aria with the new twist of being performed by a contralto profondo rather than a bass.

I still believe that your idea of performing all the pieces from "Il Barbiere" by yourself is as crazy as it is delightful, for its creativity, commitment, difficulty, and originality. I have a very deep voice for a woman (my range is F1-F6 but my tessitura is between that of a baritone and a tenor) and none of the main characters of Barbiere are sopranos 😅 my favorite part is All'idea Di Quel Metallo! I like getting to see Figaro's personality against that of the Count (I also like "Dolce Nodo" for this reason hehe) what's your favorite part?

@@arcibaldo59 I am an American but I speak Spanish fluently. I didn't know any Italian before I started this project but it has been fun to see how it is similar and different to Spanish! Cessa di piu resistere is difficult but I have one advantage professional tenors don't -- I didn't just spend the last two hours singing the rest of the opera ha ha ha
