  • This song is from Act 1 of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). Earlier in the recitative Rosina managed to sneak a note to Count Almaviva asking him to find a way to tell her his name, his rank, and his intentions. The Count isn't sure how, but Figaro suggests he explain everything to Rosina in a nice and simple song.

    In early June, while attempting this "nice and simple song" I injured my voice so badly I couldn't sing for two weeks. I can't believe it was this lousy song that wiped me out and not something cool like Cessa di piu resistere. I took another swing at it last night so I could have some closure. I'm not going to record myself singing it on video because I'm still angry. Fuck you, Lindoro Song, you and your high notes and really long phrases with no breathing!
