Thanks for the really good videos. I recently bought a Yashica Mat (basic model?). Do you use a light meter or do you judge your settings on experience? I am a bit unsure what f-stop and shutter speed to use. I have been carrying an additional camera with me to use the internal light meter, but that's a bit of a nuisance.

Love mine but I am not using it as much as I probably should. Will let it go very soon .This camera is extremely capable. If there's anything I wouldn't probably really like about it is that images look so clean and sharp they sometimes look a little "like digital" specially if you use a super fine grain film like Acros but of course you can try different emulsions and go for a grittier film look if that's what you want. It's an amazing film EDC.

Thanks for the video. I just recently bought a C220 with the 65 and 105. I really like the camera and I was surprised to see the result from a couple of test rolls I took a couple of days ago.

This is my favourite and one of the only photography accounts I follow. can anyone recommend any accounts like Robbie's? Particularly one's that aren't full of adverts every 5 seconds with creators that only seem to be copying whatever the latest trends are rather than doing there own thing..

Bro they know you’re locked in that’s why they’re not answering their phones after a hard days work the quarry workers are not going to wait for you I’ve learnt this the hard way too. Try to be respectful of locking up or closing times when out photographing projects this is a valuable lesson to heed.

Again Robbie you did it again, wonderful you made the ugly make sense and added some beauty to it. I don’t know if we have some kind of parallel life but I told you I live in a village in Northern Spain and shoot 5x4, well my neighbour is a quarry exactly like the one you’ve photographed but I’ve never seen the beauty in it until now the holding pond and Vultures that frequently fly in and out of the quarry are all present and less than 100m from my house. I know I can’t produce anything like what you’re producing because my thoughts on this quarry are very negative and this would come through in my work, your photos on the other hand are stunning. I’m so excited about this I forgot to listen to the film stock you were using. It looks like Ultramax but I Guess it’s Kodak Gold 200.

I rolled my eyes when you said you were going out and taking inspiration from mr adams, but your photos were exceptional. that is a very difficult [for lack of a better terms] genre and shooting like adams and his years of shooting social landscapes. your video setups alone made for some very strong compostions. I love Tmax 100 for outdoor photography. Were you pleased with how your shots came out? That park is such a great location. I loved that truck but the place seems very photogenic. I even liked the bridge and the rock wall that followed it. Thank you for sharing your photo outing with us. It was very enjoyable to watch and spend time with you while you took these shots.

Square format efficiently uses lens image circle. Hence, it has advantages when cropped. The Mamiya C series are big, but they are very good shooters when handheld. I use a couple of Rolleis to cover this range. So, for a dual focal length sortie, I think they’re tied. Mamiya have certainly been innovative over the modern film decades.

Wow..that photograph of the blurry crops was a piece of art man!

I never got Robert Adams until a few years ago, when I finally convinced myself that less is more and you can put across your point of view quite effectively without shouting. I guess in a way that is what film does. I find his photography thought provoking and soothing at the same time. Another photographer who challenged my ideas about landscape photography was the fellow Brit, the late Raymond Moore.

Love my C220. It’s not a new one like yours and so it needs some tlc. Thinking of sending it off to get its back seal replaced. Might also have a pinhole in the bellows, not sure. But it was really fun set up for me to play with for many years.

Interesting point about the drops on the lens. Completely shifts the viewer's focus from a transparent POV immediately towards and inward to the taker. A completely different dynamic between documentary and self portraiture.

Could you all recommend a 6x9 that does close focus below 1 meter? These videos have been a staple of my weekends btw
