About 4x5s, I switched from an intrepid mk4 to a chamonix 45f2. It is the same logics than the intrepid, very portable, but there is a huge difference in quality. Movements doesn't move a bit when tightened. I use pretty heavy lenses (135 planar, 150 2.8 heidosmat) and my focus point is always spot on. So despite the cost increase (second hand chamonix can be found for twice the price of a new intrepid), it's a real worth upgrade and pretty logical step up from the intrepid

Thanks Vince! I have a fondness for the Chamonix's based on their reputation and their looks but I have two field cameras as it is. I think a Press would be ideal for my style but monorails would really be fun to tinker with lol

I really like your original take of Randy and dog.. Forget the cropped one.. It is what it is.. Dog is just very excited by you taking a photo of them.. Super content on your channel.

There's something about viewing slides with friends and family that's a pretty unique experience. I think it looses a lot of the charm when used in
    1) a format that's hard to project
    & 2) for displaying online.
dusting off your old olympus or whatever your rocking these days and putting some ektachrome through that might make you feel better about the stock.
Though then you'd need a projector.
    and a good screen.
and some friends to have a party with.
this is becoming a bit a rabbit hole.

Oh yes, as a Gen Xer, I absolutely remember my late photographer father when we would have “company” over and he’d set up the projector and screen, bust out the slides he’d taken of family photos on his Nikon f2 or Nikkormat fT2. In retrospect it was magical. I still have boxes of the slides, should pick up a projector. I agree that 35mm slides used as originally intended-ignoring online and digitizations, might change his outlook on slide film

loving the videos - i enjoy the documentary feel and the calming process you go through to frame and capture your videos. initially came across your channel as i'm thinking about getting a Fuji GW690III and although I'm sure you have this when you're in the field, in the videos you seem to not worry too much about how much one shot on the camera costs - you just shoot whatever you find interesting as if it was a 35mm rangefinder. Unfortunately don't have the beautiful landscapes you do in the UK. Anyway keep up the good videos!!

Thank you for the kind words, Nathan! Its funny you mention cost to shot ratio. Its something that I almost never think about when I'm shooting.

nice! I started large format journey with linhof master technika a year ago! I love it and still with me. It is also interesting to see someone who doesn't like slide film (I mostly shoot slide) hahaha

You found a good one to start. I know its sacrilege to say that I don't like Positive Film but I have never found it easy or intuitive to work with. Its quite a bit more expensive than Portra or Ektar as it is.. so for me, its a no brainer.

The portrait with the dog is excellent - such a warm moment!
I second the Chamonix. I switched from my Intrepid (MK1) to a Chamonix 45N2, and then to a 45F2 (for the back movements). I still have them both and they're great cameras. Build quality is incomparably better than the Intrepid and you still have a super light, portable field camera. I think it would definitely better suit your style than a monorail (I have a Cambo that I used for macros), that's great for a studio or when doing closeups / precise movements - but out in the field I think it would just be heavy and slow you down.

Thanks for the tip! I was able to fix the intrepid on my own and it was my fault for it breaking - I do think if I were to buy a new 4x5, I would venture into something either more compact or more technical. At this rate, I have two 4x5 Field Cameras and I only use one at a time lol

@@RobbieMaynardCreates good to hear you have been able to fix the Intrepid! a working Intrepid is a perfectly fine 4x5 indeed

Regards Robbie, do not worry about the camera, ask @Intrepid and they will ship spare front standard to you. The bellows front fixture is magnetic, thus easy to swap the standard. Radek

I was able to correct at home. I just didnt want to make any decisions or quick fixes in the field that may only make it worse

I honestly love it. If I didn't end up bashing the front standard on this outing, I would have shot all of the sheets I brought. 4x5 isn't easy and sometimes, its not fun but if you care enough and give it time, you will end up enjoying it.

Thanks for your fast response@@RobbieMaynardCreates ! I^d love to buy a Chamonix or any other higher quality brand camera...but I dont want to save money forever...you know what I mean....So I ll go for d Intrepid (currently shooting with a Linhof Kardan Color Studio Camera; it`s HEAVY and bulky and no fun to carry around ! Keep up the good work, Robbie; like your style !
