That introduction tho with the dead bird is wild 😂
haha signifying the death of affair with the Universal
You took one for the team, Robbie! We shall never know what the old girl could do. Thanks for sharing the journey 🙏
haha it was a fun experiment
The sound mixing in your videos is world class documentary level. Half of the draw for me is the audio. Never came across such a tasteful score selection and masterful mix with Audio and monologue. It's inspiring!
Thank you so much! I like to mix soundscapes which is why I started making the music for these videos
I have 2 mamiya 23s of different vintage, they are my favorite cameras. Demanding to use, like 4x5s, but when it all comes together they produce amazing results and have maximal format flexibility (from 6x4.5 to 6x9). I even use them for macro photography (using a focusing screen). For your kind of photography the Fuji will probably work better, it is a fine camera. Enjoy, and I'm glad your universal got re-homed. Sorry you had so much problem with the lens! I enjoyed your video and share with you the dismay about how people leave their trash everywhere, spoiling natural beauty and harming animals (that includes people, too!). By the way, I would recommend you stay well away from that area after the crop is sprayed with herbicide/insecticide...
Thanks for the information my friend! I am glad you have had a better experience than I did. As for the Oxbow, they are all natural due to the migratory birds that flock here. The farmers here use only natural pesticides.. but if I'm honest, I don't even know what natural pesticides means lol
That's my favorite place too buddy thank you for sharing 💪
You bet
This was sweet Robbie, and not at all boring.
As others have commented, your audio editing really works nicely - best accompaniment to my tinnitus I’ve had for a while, so thanks!
It sucks that folk are attracted to something pristine, come to enjoy that and then leave their entitlement behind, ruining it for everyone who follows. Almost an analogy to be found with folk polluting the market with badly described lenses… hope the new owner has a realistic plan for getting the lens CLA’d/repaired. Understandable you’ve had enough hassle with it.
haha I like what you did there, Bernard. The state of everything is in disarray
Mint++ Comment :)
I have the GW690 and can say these Fuji Rangefinder 6x9 cameras are sharp and some of the best medium format cameras made.
I agree - I outsmarted myself lol
Hello, Robbie.
Nice video, friend.
When Mother Nature gets angry you better be careful because strange things can happen.
And as far as the footprint of people in nature is concerned, I completely agree.
From this, you can see who the real animals in nature are.
And places like this are never boring, my friend.
I really enjoyed watching it again.
Kind regards from the Netherlands,
Antoine.
Thank you for watching my friend!
Thanks for the really good videos. I recently bought a Yashica Mat (basic model?). Do you use a light meter or do you judge your settings on experience? I am a bit unsure what f-stop and shutter speed to use. I have been carrying an additional camera with me to use the internal light meter, but that's a bit of a nuisance.
Man, I love these Oxbow videos...also sucks that the Universal broke
haha it is what it is
The Mamiya Super, Press, Universal are pretty reliable manual. What went wrong with it? What was the metering & settings differences? Meter & method of choice?
Or was is lagging shutter or sticking diaphragm?
Apropro means 'relevant to', which is not quite the same as 'Appropriate'. I had to look it up though, it's not a word I use often!
Great video as always, Robbie! Sad news about the Universal.
Im glad you did cause I certainly wasn't doing the leg work
I live in the north west of England. A very wet region at the best of times, yet we have had nothing but constant rain, wind or storms for the last six months if not longer. The temperature is about 8C ( ~14 F ) below what it should be for a normal April and has been for the last 10 weeks or so. The grounds are saturated, trees are loosing heir fight with strong winds as the roots have nothing to grab on to but mud, and I think we are practically six weeks behind where we should be weatherwise. I doubt if the meterologists have any idea of what is going on, but to put their heads out of the window and then see if its raining, or more rain is on its way. As the rush for building more housing is gaining momentum, the ground that was absorbing the excess rain is being built on and asphalted and this means that rain water has nowhere to go but form a flood. The drains and the infrastructure is not coping at all due to lack of investment by the privatised water companies and profit taking for the shareholders. I drive 22 miles up a motorway to go to work, usually at 6 am. Each time it has rained the motorway surface resembles a swimming pool with dangerously deep water in the troughs that have formed as the drains are blocked up and not being cleaned, the excuse is lack of budget. Imagine hitting that puddle of water at 70 miles per hour. Accidents, after accidents are causing motorway jams everyday with chaos and misery at the rush hour as the result. Yet we ( our government ) has seen fit to spend more money on armament and military aid to this country at war and that country at war. They also just announced that 72000 civil servants will loose their jobs so they that they could spend another £75 Billion ( roughly $90 Billion )on the Army, Navy and Air Force. England is a pretty small country, so 72000 job losses are highly significant. Bleak is not the word, my friend. Great photography, photography with a conscience, I might add. Thank you.
Wonderful sentiment my friend. I appreciate this
Robbie at the Oxbow
haha I did it for you Tim :)
have you spent much time around Indian Orchard, Westfield or Ludlow? Great spots for some old town and country pics.
I have shot around there a bunch but Im riding the creative spark in the Farmlands. It wont be long until Im back to those areas
What mics are you using for your field recordings? I've just started getting into mixing that into my photography.
I use a Diety Mic on my camera and a Zoom H5 to capture sounds while Im shooting
@@RobbieMaynardCreates Nice. It shows.
Could you all recommend a 6x9 that does close focus below 1 meter? These videos have been a staple of my weekends btw
Im not much of a camera encyclopedia but I think that list would be pretty small
I’d recommend using extension tubes with the lens if you need a close focus. It’s a good way to get close focus and macros shots out of a lens you love, but has a horrendous minimum focus.
RIP, little trash panda 😢
haha may it not rest in peace
Great as always!
PS. there's something off with your video at the end (10:27)
ahhh fuckkkk... what is that that??? lol
Goodbye Universal, we hardly knew ye. I don't suppose you still have the back and the cable release?
I sold it pretty fast. Even with the issues noted
@@RobbieMaynardCreates your business acumen has saved me from even the possibility of yet another camera purchase 😉👍
people needs to be locked in doors infant of the tv’s and computers if they re going to leave trash everywhere
what would we do without men? - jordan peterson
@@RobbieMaynardCreates women are quite possibly worse culprits
Was it the lens maybe?
It was but I put in too much time with this thing
@@RobbieMaynardCreates ok
Normalize wearing the same clothes two days in row!
Nice mustard pants
Its pronounced musturd.
too much northrup at the end there lol
haha I promise you I didnt do that. I didn't see it until after it went live and it was too late at that point
Already? Jesus.
damn..
its a goddamn shame
The weather extremes are a result of climate change caused by us humans : / think u knew that, but just a lil reminder to everyone, to try their best ❤
It is unusual the shutter would run fast. Judging from your description it must only be firing at the fastest speed. There are various places that will service a shutter. It seems a shame not to put some effort into rectifying the issue. :-(
I can't begin to tell you how many hours I put into that camera + the amount of money I spent on a "Mint++++" condition lens.
