For me, Robbie and Bryan Birks are putting out consistently the best photography videos on CZcams right now
I appreciate that! I'm sure Birksy does too
Mayne is the man
I was going to leave a comment thanking Robbie for continuing to defy the algorithm and make videos solely about photography.
It is much appreciated.
@@BryanBirks one way or another, we will defeat the algorithm.
Yeah that's all they are videos about photography not actual photography is it you need space a wall a some lux this does not do them any justice its ego more than anything no actual instructions is there its just look at me. Robert Adams is a white as it gets in photography there are is only one Robert that's Frank he European like me 😂😂😂😂
Robert Adams is one of a kind, both in terms of his approach to his American and life experience and in his unwavering attentiveness to quiet things on the verge of destruction. And you celebrated this book with that same level of attentiveness. Well done Robbie.
I appreciate that! Cheers
Inspirational, keep up the great work! 👍🏼
Double thumbs up for this one. I really appreciate all you do here and all the work you put in doing so. Thanks.
Thank you so much, Frank!
Home run! Loved the commentary on Adams, loved the bangers on b&w, loved the storm content and photos, and the video edit was epic. Great stuff!
Thank you so much my friend! I always appreciate when people notice the edits and all the post stuff
Wow! Wonderful images, incredible storm.
Loved the music for the storm, very ominous and atmospheric.
You got an absolute bargain picking that copy of the book up!
Right? I didn't think it was that was hard to find but then again, I never really looked lol
@@RobbieMaynardCreates that issue is super expensive over here, the second one not so much!
Robbie, as you can tell from all the comments, this was an awesome video. Just love your work.
I really appreciate all of the kindness :)
Always great content on your channel Robbie, I really appreciate it, as well as your good work in the production of your videos.
A greeting from Spain.
Thank you my friend!
Holy wild, Batman. Awesome Robbie.👍👍
haha thanks, sidekick ;)
Damn, what agreat vid. Just realised you do the music too!! Much love
Hi, Robbie.
Great video, man.
Adams is indeed a great photographer and the book you show in the video shows just how good he was.
The second part of your video is spectacular, we don't have these types of clouds here in the Netherlands.
I understand that you want to record that.
Impressive and the photos are also very good.
This was a sunset, my friend.
And you have had your cooling down and are no longer bothered by flying.
Antoine
Thanks for watching my friend!
Wow..that photograph of the blurry crops was a piece of art man!
Thank you so much! You liking it made it worth it. I was soaked to the bone after that
@@RobbieMaynardCreates I have a weather resistant digital camera..I still won't do half the crazy things you do with those old film cameras!..hats off!..and Happy 4th of July!
@@sauravmazumder6762 haha I will regret it someday
Come to the Midwest if you like severe weather. Love the video, I also struggle with going into the field and making images.
Maybe I will visit Birksy to chase tornados and live off the land
I wish I had more free time. As it stands it's a challenge just fitting in Silvergrain Classics. Great stuff.
Well I appreciate you taking some time to hang
@@RobbieMaynardCreates I have very few channels that I always watch and yours is one of them. We similar interests in cameras models. I use the 45-degree Kiev 88 prism on my C220 tho, and the GW680iii is my preferred Fujica. When/if you get the itch for an SLR again, Hartblei still sells new Kiev 60s & 88s 😁
Great! Showing the struggles made this more relatable and real! Thank you for your video and book recommendations!
Glad you like it!
Just OUTSTANDING ❤ Love the barking dog reference
Thank you buddy! Im glad you could hear it. I thought I droned it out too much
DUDEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! Simply amazing!!
My guyyyyyy!!!
Hands down one of the best videos I’ve seen on CZcams in a long time , absolutely amazing work Robbie !! 👍
Thank you, Andrew!
Amazing story telling and soundtrack Robbie, Bravo! Truly inspirational on many fronts, so much so I have gone out and bought a couple of bucket hats as well 🙂
Its bucket hat season! You and I are ready to go!
This was a hell of a ride. Great vid! 👍
Thank you my dude!
Love it , love it , your vids are truly great
Just keep on going please 🙏 😮😮😮
Thank you, Andrew!
I never got Robert Adams until a few years ago, when I finally convinced myself that less is more and you can put across your point of view quite effectively without shouting. I guess in a way that is what film does. I find his photography thought provoking and soothing at the same time. Another photographer who challenged my ideas about landscape photography was the fellow Brit, the late Raymond Moore.
That is a great reference point - Raymond Moore had a similar approach to photographing the natural landscape in a simple but complex way.
@@RobbieMaynardCreates The other photographer who left a lasting impression on me over 4 decades ago was Faye Godwin. Her later work where she clearly explored the effect of human activity on nature and its consequences are my favourites.
ok, wow. I rolled my eyes when you said you were going out and taking inspiration from mr adams, but your photos were exceptional. that is a very difficult [for lack of a better terms] genre and shooting like adams and his years of shooting social landscapes. your video setups alone made for some very strong compostions. Ima fan. one of the best videos i've seen. Hope those are posted elsewhere. looking for you on Insta.
Thank you so much! I have posted a few of the shots on Instagram. I still don't really know how to make a photo look good on Instagram though lol
Great video
Thanks!
Brave and honest video, rare on youtube. But dont take risks. Please
Thank you Chris
The shot at 19:00 is Pure Fire. Can't say I completely "get" Robert Adams, but that's ok, I can appreciate his stuff nonetheless.
Thank you buddy :)
Wow what was it like seeing the eye of Sauron? But for real great video
Is that a Lord of The Rings reference? lol
@@RobbieMaynardCreates yeah! That initial shot of the sun looks like the eye of Sauron on the horizon
what a coincidence, i literally just read about the book!
Oh nice! What did you think about it?
@@RobbieMaynardCreates i didn’t see all of the images (I only saw 10 or so) and it didn’t quite grab me, I didn’t feel anything special looking at them and couldn’t pull any meaning from them either, but I like how you put these few in a context and talked about them. I’m still not a huge fan, but I’m a lot more open to the name and the book now than I was before watching it, if I find a cheap used copy in the stuffed book shop of my choosing I may buy it
Love the video, but that's an average Florida day with heat and bugs😂
haha I spent a few days in the Everglades and the horseflies were the size of actual horses
This is my favourite and one of the only photography accounts I follow.
can anyone recommend any accounts like Robbie's? Particularly one's that aren't full of adverts every 5 seconds with creators that only seem to be copying whatever the latest trends are rather than doing there own thing..
Thanks for the kind words my friend! You should check out Brian Birks and Logan Baker
@@RobbieMaynardCreates Thank you. Hadn't heard of Logan Baker.
2 quick observations. I'm concerned from an entirely selfish perspective that you are creating too many videos and will burn out so bear this in mind as I'm planning on watching these for the next few years or more. (No pressure.)
the other one - if you get fed up with the photography, you could get a job creating soundtracks for films. I'm sort of thinking John Carpenter type stuff based on recent videos :)
Great video
Thanks!
@@RobbieMaynardCreates I don’t know what just happened, but that was single-handedly one of the best videos on CZcams I have ever witnessed. If CZcams Oscars existed that would definitely win hands down. And the photos taken are exactly where us analogue photographers are trying to go. Wow I feel completely honoured the panoramic Ultamax shot was a personal favourite as that’s what I’m shooting at the moment even though it’s expensive. Top content from a top photographer pushing the boundaries for the community.
