A 2023 Message from Bill Nelson to the World - We Are Going!
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson delivers the State of NASA address for 2023. Learn about our plans to explore the Moon and Mars, monitor and protect the planet, sustain U.S. leadership in aviation and aerospace innovation, drive economic growth and promote equity and diversity within the agency and across the nation, while inspiring the next generation of explorers for the benefit of humanity.
We are building a coalition of nations that can help us get to the Moon quickly and sustainably. Together.
We have a bold vision to go back to the Moon by 2024. As we work towards this goal, we welcome a growing list of international and commercial partners.
It is the partnerships over the last 60 years that have ensured the steady progress. With Mars on the horizon, together we can explore more of our solar system and share in the advances and the knowledge that will come.
We go, together.

    I was in 9th grade algebra class. My teacher knew Krista relatively well from college. We had a TV in the class to watch the launch. At the moment of the explosion, she screamed and promptly fainted. It was all very shocking to us all. We helped my teacher back up and she looked at me and said “Did the space shuttle just explode?” I said “Yes ma’am, I believe that it did” and she said “Oh God Oh Krista!” ,and fainted again. It was a terrible day. It’s one of our generations “Kennedy” moments. God rest the souls of those that have given their lives for the exploration of space. And good video btw🤙

    It was hard to believe that it had happened again. The shuttle was trying to solve a lot of problems at once which created a lot of problems in complexity. I'm a bit worried about the tiles on Starship too. Stainless steel is good at high temperatures, but it's not a good conductor of heat, so if a tile falls off, the heat will stay there heating up the stainless rapidly. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with that. Thanks for the video. I bet it's a punch to the gut to you when an accident happens. It's pretty amazing that so many people have been to space and back so far and lived. Would you go up there Gus?

    • @yourspacetv1
      @yourspacetv1 Před rokem

      Hey Nathan! 😀 It is pretty amazing I believe the percentage is about 0.03% in total for a failure of spaceflight with crew. Let's pray that noone forgets our losses. I would definitely go up, but my choice would be a Dragon capsule right now! Haha! Hopefully that will change in a few years when we'll have Starliner, Starship, Orion, and perhaps a modified New Sheppard capsule. The future looks exciting to say the least. 🤞🤞

  • @nathansmith5578

    I was in school and we went to the library to watch it on the tv. We all went back to class pretty quickly. I didn't really know what had happened for quite a while. This is why we should respect scrubs and be happy for them. I grew up in Utah about 60 miles from where the boosters were made at what was then Thiokol, now ATK. But I drove past the plant many times. It was way out by itself in the west desert. All the buildings used to be painted in different colors for camouflage. I never went to see a booster test. I wish I had now. It's obvious you've been a space junkie for quite a while. I'm glad you're sharing it with us. That must have felt terrible as a kid.

      You are a great person Nate! Thank you for the comments. I didn't see this one till now. I honestly believe if I wouldn't have lacked the inspiration and thrive at home (parents), I would have had a career in spaceflight. I have many memories with my grandmother taking me to launches after that day. She grew up in Puerto Rico and was also pretty naive about what America was about. She learned a lot from me. My parents weren't really around much. The complete opposite of how I parent my girls today. "Open any door you want, just work hard and love doing it"! 💪🇺🇸

    Ahh I missed three videos. You've been busy. Thanks for this one, I made some liquid oxygen by condensing it through a tube submerged in liquid nitrogen once. Just for fun, It's kind of acts like really flammable fuel but in reverse. The liquid doesn't do anything until it's vaporized into a gas, then it burns. The velcro situation is interesting because the surface area of the velcro and the rapidity in which it would vaporize with heat and those gasses mixing with pure oxygen would cascade so fast. It would be kind of like burning a line of smokeless gunpowder at first, then the pressure in the cabin would make things happen even faster like it does inside a bullet. Smokeless powder burns slowly outside a bullet casing, but when pressurized in the casing, it burns quickly. What a nightmare. So sad for everyone involved in that. If you were an engineer, what a horrible feeling it would be. Thanks for the detail on this. I didn't know much about it.

    I feel bad for nasa management that had to take the hit for this. So the SRB oring engineers made the comment. Never before had nasa management did that. Well it turns out someone from the whitehouse had called nasa and basically told them to fly the damn thing and stop making excuses” so then nasa management repeated that treatment towards everyone else including oring engineers. -- part was because her lesson plan but the other part is Ronald Reagan wanted a political win by having the shuttle arrive in orbit the morning of the state of the Union speech. - bottom line Reagan could careless about teachers in space he was gunning for the teachers Union votes. -- I don’t identify with any party specifically I just keep an objective mind and ask people in the know what exactly happened that was the answer. Everyone loved Reagan so much they covered for him. More specifically I think it was Bush that actually made the phone call.

    • @klk1900
      @klk1900 Před rokem

      Hell I would give that too. If I was responsible. What people don’t tell is someone at the whitehouse called nasa management and browbeat them. That’s why nasa management did that to the engineers because they just got a ear full by Bush sr or Reagan about embarrassing us. Nasa management was the scape goat. -- fast forward to Columbia. Nasa management reacted that way because Congress was literally threatening them on a weekly basis that if any delays occur at all they will pull the funding for the ISS. Keep in mind the only reason they funded the shuttle was to build the iss. That decision was made in the late 90s. In both cases nasa management was pressured by politicians and that’s when they fail. When politicians stay out of it nasa management does a great job. But that political pressure is a toxic death trap.

      I'm working on a video that will explain exactly that! My older video of the Jelly Fish also discribes it well. The new video will also explain why SpaceX decides to land back on LZ-1 or choose to land on the Drone Ship. 🤓 Stay Tuned Cristina! Love to read comments from New people! Glad you liked it! Please share and "Like" the video! Thank you for the comment!

      @@yourspacetv1 thanks! I really enjoy your vids! Btw just a super random question, when will the starship launch for its orbital test? I hope you know, and if you don’t know it doesn’t matter❤️

    • @yourspacetv1
      @yourspacetv1 Před rokem

      @Bing Chilling they won't launch till SpaceX's Gwyenne Shotwell, The launch flight manager says it's ready. Elon has given her the "say" when it's ready.But as of now they have been having issues with testing more than half the Raptors engines. I believe 2023 we will see the test launch, but don't hold your breath my friend! 😁

    Though it is an interesting thing to think about, I think it's way too early to make up rules about the moons resources, however it may be similar to pioneers settling the American West. It just seemed open and empty with enough for everybody. fast forward to now and look at Los Angeles. What was once pristine farmland with a perfect climate is now expensive real estate and super crowded. It will be hard to say what is going to happen. Hopefully the Kessler Syndrome won't happen and lots of interesting things can happen with the moon. I do think that super beautiful geologic parts should be off limits to rovers and people on the moon and especially on Mars because tracks and footprints take thousands of years to disappear on Mars and maybe millions of years on the moon. On earth a footprint usually disappears in months. Keep some parts of these celestial bodies like a national park or space wilderness area without marking it up.

    Play at 1.25 speed.. was 2am and i speek a little slow 😊. My apologies What do you think about the private sectors plan to commercialize the moon? Perhaps looking for funds in minerals mined from the moon? Do you think it's possible in our lifetime? And do you think we should have space rules to reduce using the moon's resources? Would love to know what my friends think! Have a great week!

    How do we get you more subscribers. Your video edits are very thorough and I can appreciate the work it takes to put them together. I'll mention you in the comments of the other space channels I watch. BTW I'm sending this comment via Starlink. It works pretty good except we're in a canyon and once in a while there isn't a satellite over head and we lose the internet for about 5 minutes.

      Fuegofool, THANK YOU for the comment my friend! I appreciate your kind words. 😊 Where are you located if you don't mind me asking? And also, remember Starlink is upgrading to new satellites 2.0, so perhaps that will help in the future. Keep me posted, would be very cool to keep in touch. Have a great weekend! 👍🏼

    With just 2 or 3 + of these Falcon-like vessel forms, adjacent to the Starship Beast, could avoid the double full sef fuel, refill & orbit abandon human cargo scrub risk. Becsusec the Beast alone, cannot take Starship-cargo into fully orbit velocity parking.
