Honestly, the main reason why Haaland is viewed as an average player is because this generation was shown the two greatest players in the history of the game. They put in stats so insane, they put in performances so godly that when Haaland does his thing which is 36 goals in 22 - 23 in his first season at city it just feels mid, compared to the goats that playfully drops 60+ goals per season.

I think the disrespect to Håland is a microcosm of the fact that nobody respects Manchester City. He‘s currently still the top scorer of this season’s premiere league - in his “worst“ or most unspectacular season. That being said, he definitely has to improve, if he wants to become one of the greats. One phenomenal season isn’t enough anymore after what legacy Cristiano and Messi have left.

Suddenly it was full opening for Gvardiol because the defender was more concerned with Haaland. He is often indirectly involved in a lot of goals for City that is not recognized and appreciated.
