Many people focus on how successful he was at Barcelona and it’s true that it was the most prolific period of his career, but I think his prime was at Liverpool in my opinion. Many of us hype up the premier league a lot yet nobody talks about how he peaked at Liverpool.
He was excellent for 3 and a half years there, but 2013/14 Luis Suarez was a different beast and you can argue that that season is up there with some of the best individual performances from a player in the premier league. You look at his stats that year in the premier league alone, he had 31 goals and 13 assists in 33 games and remember he missed what the first 5 games of the season that year and scored so many goals without taking a single penalty. Can you imagine how many goals he’d have that year without his suspension or if he was on penalty duty. At least he wasn’t a “tap in merchant” and he actually scored proper goals and it shows you how versatile of a finisher he is that he can go from tap ins to headers to volleys free kicks etc, you name it. Liverpool were realistically a mid table team that season and it tells you how good Luis Suarez is when he almost carried them to a premier league title and sometimes that part of his career isn’t talked about enough. You compare his season to someone like Cristiano Ronaldo (2007/08) at Manchester United, Thierry Henry at Arsenal, Suarez was on a very weak team yet scored 30+ goals and he literally had a carry job for Liverpool. It’s true that he was very successful at Barcelona as well with how he won a treble in his debut season had domestic success scored goals for fun and was part of an iconic attacking trio with Lionel Messi and Neymar (MSN), but the streets will never forget Luis Suarez at Liverpool particularly in 2014.

Luis swarez scored 34 in the prem without taking penalties (Liverpool got 8 that season) and he missed first 5 games(he had 0.92 ga per game which means he would likely score 4 goals)...thats 45 goals if he missed one penalty...crazy 5 behind messi's 50 league goal season

Luis Suarez is an interesting player he’s probably the best striker of the last decade, he’s that good. The same guy who’s scored over 500+ goals in his career, the only player who was outscoring peak Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo winning 2 European Golden Shoes, insane longevity, and has performed wherever he has done this was a guy who was seen as finished yet scored 20+ goals and won Atletico Madrid a league title, he was a phenomenal striker. When you look back at his legacy, his on field incidents at times overshadowed his excellent performances throughout his career. One day you’ll explain to people that he bit 3 different players and received lengthy suspensions before of it.
Even to this day, I still can’t believe that he did that and also racially abused a player when he was still in England and he always has this “Dark Arts” about him. At the 2010 World Cup, even though he got sent off what he did in the Uruguay and Ghana game was iconic and very smart. Ghana were about to score and he was like a goalkeeper when he used his hands to prevent them from scoring he did that and after he got sent off, they missed the penalty. He has a tendency of talking back fighting with other players getting yellow cards for unnecessary reasons but in his prime many teams would want someone like Luis Suarez because he was so consistent scoring goals at an incredible rate and it didn’t matter what club he was playing on. Does anyone notice that after 2014, when he joined Barcelona ok he was still known for his controversial behavior and antics, but playing with Messi, he kinda cooled down a little bit. He was that good and I think that we’d view Suarez a lot differently if his attitude was better and didn’t bite those players, despite all these incidents it doesn’t change how good he was from a talent perspective.
