    Brother, I'm sorry, but your source about the Baltic Republican Party is inaccurate. Most of the participants in this party are Russian neo-Nazis who wanted to create a new Taiwan from Kaliningrad and wanted Germany to restore the Third Reich. And regarding referendums, this is generally a meme. All sources of these referendums are Ukrainian media, the site itself does not open from a Russian IP but only through a VPN and passed through the Internet format with the votes of predominantly Ukrainians. Although the whole list is funny, especially about Voronezh. I am a resident of the Kaliningrad region, if anything.

    • @FredoRockwell
      @FredoRockwell Před dnem

      My source for the Baltic Republican Party was Vadim Petrov, current leader of the Baltic Republican Party. I also exchanged messages with other party members. None of them were "Nazis." The poll was conducted by an organisation which is run by a Ukrainian MP. This is explained in the video. It has been covered in the Ukrainian media, but wasn't run by it. Not that there's anything wrong with a media-run poll. The fact that Russia blocked the poll's website makes the poll less reliable, but it's still the only publicly available poll on the subject. Maybe the Russian government should be less frightened of its own citizens and let scientific political polls be taken and published? Blocking IP addresses just makes the Russian government look desperate.

      @@FredoRockwell Yes you are right. I confused the Republican Party with the BARS organization. This is not a full-fledged survey; residents of the region were not surveyed. I literally only found out about this survey from your video. The fact that this is cheap propaganda shows the movement for the independence of Novgorod and Voronezh. We have a lot of surveys. The Kaliningrad Monitoring Group conducted surveys in 2009 and 2014. 88% of the population want to stay in Russia in the same conditions, and the remaining 12 want the status of the Kaliningrad region to be transformed into the status of a federal subject. Rather, the problem is that very little Russian material is being translated into English as unnecessary, because Russia was very isolated from Europe before any political upheavals. All these videos have little to do with Russian reality, because all the independence movements were for giving the status of republican significance to the region. ents of the region were not surveyed. I literally only found out about this survey from your video.

    France, Italy, Japan, and the US also have military bases in Djibouti. seems like an important fact to leave out. also afaik africa's borders are so screwed up that it's a legitimate concern to be worried about the effects of any separatist region successfully and unilaterally becoming independent and recognized

    • @FredoRockwell
      @FredoRockwell Před dnem

      I suppose I would include those facts in a video about Djibouti. These countries have long-standing bases around the world. China opening a naval base in Djibouti is a very new type of development, and is also causing concern in Washington in a way Italian or Japanese bases do not. 🙂 There's nothing illegitimate about the concern about changing colonial borders in Africa. Somaliland has been independent for 33 years, though, and so far this has brought peace, democracy, and stability to a territory which was previously the site of state-sponsored genocide. Officially refusing to recognize the reality on the ground after decades of Somaliland's independence just makes the international diplomatic consensus look ridiculous (in my opinion).

    • @shway1
      @shway1 Před dnem

      @@FredoRockwell it's less concerning in the context of knowing this is something other military powers do and I think it's a super relevant fact. and im not looking at this from the point of view of washington. the interests of the world as a whole are more important. sure there's no violence (or at least it's limited), but this is before international recognition, with somalia still being a failed state without the capacity to do anything about it, and now puntland seems like it's looking to be independent and having overlapping territorial claims, and then there's the issue of how this could embolden other separatists/unilateral changing of borders. I feel the same way about taiwan. it's obviously a de-facto independent country, but it shouldn't officially declare independence or have many countries recognizing it as such, at least not yet. I liked your .io video though. 😅 sorry if being too negative

    • @FredoRockwell
      @FredoRockwell Před dnem

      It's been a while since I made this video, but I think that I was only really focusing on US motivations to engage with Somaliland. You're not wrong about the context of the other bases - it just wasn't my focus (if I remember correctly). The internationally recognised state of Somalia is pretty much a failed state, and it's important to remember it's a much newer project than Somaliland. It was set up by the former president of Puntland two decades after the Somali Republic collapsed. The decision of the international community to recognize it as the heir to the 1960-1991 Somali Republic is, to me, a form of colonialism. Western powers are choosing which local rulers they want to support based on perceived national interests. I support a rules based international system, just with rules that put the people of a country first - not the governments. Thanks for your comments. I didn't find them negative. Sorry if it seemed like I pushed back a bit hard! 🙂

      Thanks for your comment! As far as I know, no one in Koenigsberg is calling for unification with Germany. Meanwhile, Germany has publicly renounced any claim to the region. So, while I understand the appeal of a historical connection, I don't think unification with Germany is at all likely (and it might also create tension with Poland, who currently controls the Southern part of what was once East Prussia). However... the Basic Republican Party does favor EU membership after independence. This could be argued to be a sort of unification with Germany, even if it's not presented this way. But a lot has to happen before this would even be possible to discuss seriously.

    Not correct. Thank You Fredo, you've done better than most; but there was more manipulation than the public has been told. The 'New York Agreement' was first proposed in May 1959, and Indonesia agreed in March 1961 that it wanted such an agreement, although they did not want the public to know it is a trusteeship agreement. West Papua is a victim of OUR governments, on 21st September 1962 our governments voted to give the new UN Secretary General U Thant permission to invade West Papua and appoint Indonesia as the current administrator. Our governments were using article 85 part 1 of the UN Charter to authorise this; article 85 part 2 requires that the Secretary General tell the UN Trusteeship Council about the trusteeship agreement ('New York Agreement') so that the Council can then begin its article 87 & 88 duties making yearly UN reports to protect & promote independence of the colony (West Papua). In violation of the UN Charter, U Thant never told the Trusteeship Council; and nor have any of the subsequent Secretary Generals. António Guterres is in violation of international law that requires he reveals the UN annexation of West Papua to the UN Trusteeship Council; irrespective of whoever the UN has appointed as "administrator".

      @FredoRockwell Před 13 dny

      I'm not sure who your guy is! 😂 The poll in this video was conducted by Ukrainians - do you consider them "western?" It was also, as explained in the video, not a scientific poll. What would be dishonest is presenting a non-scientific poll as a very reliable metric. If there had been a range of scientific polls on the issue, I would have included them as well. Speaking of scientific polls, there are plenty of them about sentiments for independence in Puerto Rico. There are also groups allowed to legally advocate for independence without fear from the authorities. I can't see why a Chinese person would be interested in contributing another poll, but I don't think there's anything to stop them.

    • @againstviralmisinformation510
      @againstviralmisinformation510 Před 12 dny

      @@FredoRockwellI was referring to the people voting as the online poll wasn’t just limited to Russian much less Russian in the region voting. And as you said this poll is reliable. So why even mention it to come your conclusion that some people want to be independent. Again that would be like me mentioning a poll organized by China and Russia with voters of various nationalities deciding whether Puerto Rico should be independent. At best I am wasting your time with such an argument and at worst just being dishonest. Wasn’t even saying whether Puerto Rico wanted to be independent or not. Not that it matters the U.S. wouldn’t allow that to happen. Oh by the way remember when you said we can protest things against America’s interest. Yea that didn’t age well when it came to Israel did it.

    • @FredoRockwell
      @FredoRockwell Před 12 dny

      I didn't say the poll was reliable. I said it was non-scientific. It is still a data point, however, and a data point in a situation where there are no other data points. Maybe it shows some sort of indication of sentiment, or mayble not. So I presented it with clear caveats. This is pretty standard. Polls of Putin's approval rating are treated the same way when reported in the media. The polls are not thought to be scientific, or free from state interference, but they are still the only data points on the subject and have some limited value as a result. I'm pretty sure the US would let PR become independent if there was a referendum result for independence. There's no majority for independence at the moment, so it's only speculation. As far as I know there have been protests about Israel accross the country for weeks now. A small minority of protestors have faced prosecutions, but not for protesting. They are accused of property damage or something similar. I'm not endorsing the actions of any private or public authorities, but I don't think your characterization is valid. Nor do I think your arguments are made in good faith, by the way.
