Barn find ‘68 Dodge Charger 5 Way Dirt Track Race!
Episode 295 of Mike Finnegan's Garage is the bomb! Hands-down, this is the most fun I've had with cars in a long, long time. We took my 1968 Dodge Charger, aka The Death Metal Charger, to Mooresville Dragway and instead of pointing it straight down the asphalt dragstrip for a few seconds we went round and round a new dirt roadcourse for hours! The 450hp turbocharged Toyota 2JZGE engine and new QA1 front suspension performed flawlessly and aside from a couple of minor fixes to the cooling and air inlet systems, the car just kept going and going like a boss. That's not all; in this episode we kick off a new giveaway for a vehicle from my personal collection plus other cool prizes. Head over to www.fsmgarage.com for your chance to enter to win my 1970 Datsun 510! Two runner-up winners will receive a Wirecare Motorsports wiring kit and six runner-up winners, will receive an autographed FSM Flexfit hat. Official rules can be found at www.fsmgarage.com/pages/win-mike-finnegans-datsun-official-rules and no purchase is necessary to enter. As always, head over to www.wirecare.com for all of your wiring needs.
Good luck and Thanks for watching!

My Barn-Find Firebird Wheelies at The Dragstrip! But Does It Run an 8 Second Pass?
zhlédnutí 192KPřed dnem
Welcome to the 294th Episode of Mike Finnegan's Garage! I can't believe we are nearing the 300th episode we've dropped since 2016. It's been a wild ride and the pursuit to make our barn-find '67 Pontiac Firebird run an 8 second pass at the dragstrip has been just as wild. In this vid we are back at Alabama Dragway to see if recent upgrades and tuning changes results in quicker ETs. We are on on...
Mystery Project Car Is Here and So Is The Engine!

Episode 293 is a banger cause the car I've been teasing you about for over a year is finally in my garage and being worked on. In this video we show you portions of my new drag and drive beast, a car that hopefully is fast enough to trip the beams of a 1/4 mile dragstrip in under 7 seconds at over 200 mph. Powering the project is a custom-built 400ci LS engine crafted by Ace Racing Engines in T...

This is Episode 292 and we are giving you what you asked for; After finding problems with The Rubber Duck at the dragstrip, we headed right to the chassis dyno to figure it out. We left the dyno with more horsepower and a happier car. This video gives a breakdown of the changes and we double check our camshaft valve lash and valve springs at home in my garage. Hope you enjoy it. Next stop, is b...

Episode 290 of Mike Finnegan's Garage has something for everyone. I ended up fixing it with fire! Then, I pulled my 13,000 original mile 1998 GMC Sierra short bed truck into the garage to measure it for new wheels and tires...

CZcams content is all about having enough projects on hand to keep people engaged, so I totally get why they have to bounce around on projects. However if it were me the only projects that would matter to me at all are the caddy, and the Chevy pickup. I’d love to see the pick up in paint, I think it deserves it.

Is it just me or does anyone else scream at the video screen when someone is trying to start a carbureted car. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the engine in the daytona. That engine should have started in 2-3 seconds or less. It's the most simple thing in the world to watch this & know exactly what the engine wants for fuel. Not only that but the longer they crank it they loose all my respect based off the fact that they don't know/realize what would make that car start. Even if it didn't have chokes it doesn't make one bit of difference, it will start immediately regardless, if you know you know. One thing that makes it even worse is that they choke it and give it the fuel that it needs to start & then they let it flood immediately lol. What's the next step? Well they just keep crankin and pumpin it full of fuel lmao. Jesus guys. This is embarrassing to watch. To anyone with less experienc if you're starting an unfamiliar carberated car then here is what you do, Just get in the car and turn the key and see if it starts. If it does not then hold accelerator on floor and crank for 5-7sec to ensure the vehicle is not flooded for some reason. (very rare for a car that's been sitting unless equipped with electric fuel pump) If the vehicle has not started then you begin with 3 full pumps of the accelerator pedal, then crank again. If the vehicle begins to start or runs some before dying then stop and give an additional 3-4 pumps then crank again. If the vehicle starts but will not idle well on its own, then bring the RPM up while the vehicle warms up. If the vehicle still doesn't start after the initial 3 pumps and the second set of 3-4 pumps then you can pump the accelerator 10 times or so then crack the accelerator open at 15-20% then crank. If still nothing then you can try more pumping or pour a half cup or ~4~ounces something flammable down the carbs. It this does nothing then you have another issue & its probably lack of ignition\spark. Now if they would have just pumped up the accl pumps and gave it a good 6-8 pumps in the beginning it would have started up rt off. Also if at least one of the chokes would have been functional that would have done it to but these guys choke it, start it, let it run and load up with fuel till it cant run then they crank it and pump even more fuel into it... should have just turned off choke after start. Like seriously, people want to learn guys...
