- Episode 288 of Mike Finnegan's Garage is a sad one because I'm sending the Roadkill Ramp Truck, my 1973 Chevrolet Crew Cab Dually, down the road to it's new owner. After 8 years of proud ownership, it's time to say goodbye, fix a few odds and ends, and fondly look back at the good times we've had together. I know this is a sudden departure but I have good reasons to sell the truck and I'm excited about the future. So sit back, relax and take a trip down memory lane with Joe and I as we say, "Goodbye, Old Friend."

Probably the most iconic truck in the Roadkill fleet. I remember the days before motortrend, and all the episodes were on CZcams.
Amen to that. Very sad to see it go but the new owner will have something truly amazing.
And before a corporation decided to remove em from youtube. Motortrend probably would have people sign up for your service to watch roadkill if it was something sharable. I shared those videos with many folks that though the content was cool.
Those were the days
I'm still PISSED they removed those vids. I would watch an episode every morning before work years ago.@@ottersdangerden
Haven’t watched an episode since. Loved that show.
Man I love the roadkill ramp truck. I miss you and Freiburger hauling the Bonneville Camaro on it and the countless other memories that were had with it. Farewell ramp truck :(
It was a fantastic journey with this beast! I remember watching the roadkill episode where you picked it up, 454 and all!
Dude you act like you lost your left leg like I actually did you know you'll recover and have a lot of regrets😢
I love that you are sharing the joy and truly giving the truck another life. Some of the other motortrend shows just have a bunch of cars rotting in a field.
i'm not one to just have stuff sitting around. i'd rather take the money and experience different things.
Please bring us witth you for your adventures whatever they may be. You are part of so many families. And in many your the best 1. Life is hard and you make it livable for so many. Wherever life takes you please know the world wants to live through you. Thanks for all you do. You have touched my heart and so many others. Your my hero.
@FinnegansGarage
Hot Rod is notorious for letting cars sit outside and just rot away. Boo!!😅
If you ever want to sell dumpster fire as a roller id be interested in adding it to our collection
Im all up for that if its done in videos like the datsun... proper old school roadkill vibes.. how it should be @@FinnegansGarage
Mike, as an old man to a young man. Let it go. You'll always have the memories. Soon enough , you will have to be letting go of alot of things that have been apart of your life and it's how you deal with it is what builds character .
Be happy, move forward , and there is nothing wrong with looking back to the memories that is every aspect of you life.
I have enjoyed the ride with the ramp truck , and I'll always be a fan.
Good luck.
im glad to have the memories and this video.
Damn, man, if I'd had three more beers I think I'd be crying. I'm even younger than Mike (still not a 'young man', I'm 38). As much smarter and more experienced as I am now than I was at 25, I sorta can't wait til I'm 60 and can see what dumbasses guys my age now are, haha! What a great comment.
@@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney
Love it , man.
@@phillipthethird42 Please tell me you have a cool old car from back when normal people could get them, like the clean '68 Barracuda I've been building for 10 years, haha! Now and again I love on it a little, haha!
@@FinnegansGarage Nothing's ever 'final' anymore, is it?
That sucks. I was hoping we would see a race between this truck and Cleetus' rollback truck
That race had already happened.
@@richardbeckett5580cleetus raced him with the pos diesel galaxy not a truck
he and i chatted about making it happen but he just had a kid and didnt have time to travel to georgia and i was tied up with stuff and couldnt get to florida. the truck also sold in 24 hours, which i didnt expect. thought id have more time but it was gone shortly after i put it for sale online.
@@picklefart I didn't finish reading the comment before I commented. I stopped at cleetus.
Sad day boys a very sad day😢
A sad day indeed to see the ramp truck leave to its new home. Feels almost like last call to the end of an era that was OG Roadkill. Back when it was just Mike and Freiburger. Two dudes buy junk that had no business ever seeing pavement again rolling cross country in a giant spectacular failure that sometimes somehow ended at the destination they intended. The ramp truck and general mayhem are the two biggest icons from the old days which really brought me and my friends together. Hope it went to a good home and glad they kept the old sticker.
Mike, I could have really used that kit but it just puts a smile on my face to see it go not just to someone who made a funny joke, but a guy who REALLY needs it, and a break. Now if someone could could just donate the squirrels a new condo, he'll be set.
This was my sentiment as well. Truly the end of an era. From anyone who followed in the beginning, it is a reminder of OG CZcams Roadkill episodes, no big media controlling the episodes etc.
This makes me feel for the other Roadkill fleet cars left out to rot in the studio parking lot. Always wondered about the OG Ranchero
I always wondered about the offroad hornet. That was one of my favorites
Definitely! As someone who’s been a fan for years, I hope other fans can keep these cars maintained and enjoyed.
Of all the builds you’ve done, this one actually hurts. I remember when you and Freiburger found it and the Crusher Camaro. This is probably the most useful vehicle you have.
Bummed to see this go, but I also give it like 3 months until there’s another one lol
Im gonna guess he'll have a cool old dually or something to pull the race trailer
sign up for teh anything on wheels (georgia) face book grp thats where he posted this one
10 years from now that truck will show up for sale and he will buy it back, didn't know you broke your leg, hopefully it heals with no long term side effects.
10 years? More like 10 months lol
I refuse this reality. 😤This needs to be in a museum, this is BS...
Better in use than in a museum
One of my favorite trucks ever
Sad to see it go 😭
I forgot how good the painters were who did the ramp truck. Cab looks like a piece of candy.
Right they actually managed to make a solid white cab not look like complete shit
The episode headline had me clicking to see what's up so fast.
SAME
Pic had ramp truck, so it's about that ofc
The new owner is a very lucky person. Also that appeared to be a 2002ish Civic Si on the back. Had one of those with the rally type shifter on the dash. Such a fun little commuter to dip through the canyons everyday to work 60 miles each way.
my first episode of roadkill was the bonneville episode, wild to think that was a decade ago, you and freiburger are the 2 people that really started my love of cars when i was 11 watching yall, i know you want read this but I just wanted to say thanks for that
Truly sad to see the roadkill ramp truck leave, hopefully the new owner is happy with it and understands how special it is to us fans. Hope you have a speedy recovery from the injury!
I'm guessing he does since the stickers on the door are staying :)
That original Roadkill episode and all you guys went through made me want one of these trucks and I still do. The retrospective was well done. I will miss the truck, but all you did to save it and improve will preserve it for years to come. Look forward to your next adventure 👍💪😎
The end of an era! When you played the highlight reel it really took me back to the early days. My dad had mentioned to me and one of my brothers about roadkill in its Early infancy and to look back that I've been following you for a decade or more is absolutely crazy. I remember The CZcams shows right after graduating college and through my first job out of school.
I think the part that hit me the most was remembering that era when you first got the ramp truck with roadkill and seeing how the content has changed over the last 10 years or so and how many have gone on to their own CZcams channels outside of the original roadkill on CZcams.
I had subscribed to motor trend on demand for a while, but soon got tired of the format and missed the CZcams feel so I canceled it a few years back. CZcams content without a big company always telling people what to do is way better.
Looking forward to what you get next!
Ramp truck is iconic and great to watch it through the years. I'm still fighting with my pickup 24 years later
Mike, you and your band of merry mischief makers did a great job on that truck! I found out about it too late to take it home myself, but you made someone happy with it. Keep up the good work and wish you a speedy recovery.👍
I'm a Ford guy but I believe this was the pinnacle of your rigs, very iconic.
Things come and things go. It's had a good run with you guys and you. Thanx for taking such great care of it. Now a page has turned. On to the next one.
It's definitely sad to see her go. But, it brings me to wonder how many of the Roadkill cars are still out there. The important thing is we've got those memories, and she'll be in good hands.
Sad the cars have to go, but you have to let some things go to grow. Hope it goes to a good home, it deserves it.
Sad to see the ol ramp truck go to a new home , but excited to see whats coming up next! I've watched every episode you guys have ever put out so have seen every step of they way with the rebuild. not sure i could part with it myself, but I get it.
Make room for the new stuff, can’t wait for what’s next! Thanks for your efforts Mike, I enjoy watching!
Congratulations to all the winners.... sad to see the ramp truck go, but I see where you're coming from.
I had a 1983 dodge rampage project I drove that thing for 3 months on temp tags the 2.2 with a manual transmission worked great but it had issues driving straight after I had my fun with it it was time to look into the issues. I found the unibody frame was rusted out at the passenger leaf spring mount, causing the body to warp. It was to far gone to save. I managed to find a 1982 rampage auto transmission to build, unfortunately after getting the engine 100% and starting body work I found myself trying to find a replacement windshield where I live we can't really cheat due to our laws. Long story shortened Life took a turn and family comes first I ended up having to abandon the project and letting it go. I have been watching you since the beginning in roadkill. Your channel one of my top go to when I need a good laugh or some inspiration. Keep up the good work and heal that leg
Always enjoy your content and you Mike.
You are a good man and I’m sure your parents are and were very, very proud of you. Continued good fortunes and safe travels.
Mike - totally understand that the chase and the build is far more fun than the day to day of owning a project, I'm the same way. Find it, build it, enjoy it for a while and then sell it. Looking forward to the next one!
It will be missed. It's been a good truck, great to watch it's transformation. Hopefully the new owner has as much fun with it as you did.
Really is bitter sweet to see this truck go love watching it progress through the years
Congratulations to the new owner!!! Nothing better than a vehicle being used for what it was intended. I like that you don't want to store vehicles away in a dark wearhouse like that Cadillac you are building. Thank you Finnegan for posting all the great videos on your CZcams channel
I’m so glad I got to see the ramp truck at LS fest last year. That truck has always been one of my favorites.
Can’t keep everything. Live is always evolving. We have to let go of everything eventually but always have the memories. On to the next. Thank you for sharing all the journeys. ❤️
Man, when you did the memories in the beginning of this video watching Blasphemi drive on the ramp truck when it still had the black roof really drove it home that you & Freiberger have really done so much for the hot rodding community since Roadkill began.
You do such a great job of making all of us feel like we’re part of these builds it’s no wonder people get worked up about iconic vehicles like the ramp truck leaving. I can’t wait to see what projects come next! Hope that leg is healing well and you’re back on both feet real soon.
It really is scary just how fast the years fly by! And the older you get, the faster they fly away.
Loved the build inspiring. Now it can be shared and loved by more people. ❤
Love your videos. Gonna miss seeing the ramp truck, but on to bigger and better things. Congrats to the winners, and I can't wait to watch the next episode.
Awesome video Mike! When you race the hauler truck and the race car you hauled with it, you are living right! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
An amazing chapter with the Roadkill ramptruck closes for Mikie, to open up another chapter in the Finnegan Garage's awesome history. I think it would be really cool to see you build another ramptruck to your personal liking and design someday. In the meantime, I can't wait to see the CADDY completed and tearing up the strips!! Of course Blasphami is my all-time favorite (for now, lol) because of the tri-five era, I think the '55 is the best looking. MIKIE!Thanks for taking us along for the ride, really appreciate it!
Oh, and just because you have a CZcams channel, and are behind the camera, doesn't mean you have to take the stage actor's saying literally: BREAK A LEG! 😂
Heal well brother 🙏🏻 💪 😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
All good things must come to an end, and this absolutely amazing truck will always be in our hearts.❤
A sad day for sure. The little trip down memory lane at the beginning reminded me how much I miss newburn and cotton. How are those guys going
Hi Mike
I can’t believe that it’s been 8 years since we first all saw that episode when the ramp truck first appeared.
Oh well, what must be must be.
We all can’t wait to see your next diesel project.
Its been great watching the journey this truck has gone through, but im excited to see the next build!
I kind of figured this would happen when you sold game over. Good on you for parting with it, and letting people experience it.
It was wild watching the new owner of the ramp truck drive away with an EP3 Civic on the back that looks an awful lot like the one in my driveway. Looking forward to getting on the road in my favourite toy again.
Man this was hard to see go, between this and the muscle truck they are the reason I fell in love with and bought a squarebody which in Australia was hard to find! Congratulations to the new owner, please look after her!
Oh man...the ramp trucks been in the fleet for awhile too...first time I saw it is on the Bonneville top speed Camaro episode...gonna miss the ramp truck.
Gunna Miss that truck. A Roadkill classic. Congrats to the new owner. You sir, Own a piece of Roadkill history. 🍻
Long Live, The O.G. Roadkill Ramp Truck...
Such a bummer I really liked the og ramp truck and the history behind it. Sorry to see it go.
Sad to see this one go but completely understand the why's.
I saw the post on Facebook 😢 still sad about it 😂
Was it posted on FB for sale?
@@dieselfixryes
How much for?
Hurts my heart to see it go but glad it is back in circulation! Hopefully one day I can see it or have an opportunity to own it in the future!
Man, thank you! for being you and creating the content that you do!!!!
I will have to say, out of all the vehicles I've seen you and frybuger purchase the past 7.5 years that I've been watching Roadkill (and just this channel once RK went to motortrend) this truck is by far my favorite. That probably has to do with being a auto/diesel tech.
Whoever purchased this truck got a killer deal. Definitely jealous. I just hope they take care of it and make it last.
I admit that when I saw the new trailer I figured you were going through with the idea of making the ramp truck into a dually pickup. Cool that the RKRT will continue its life with new owners. 🎉
I’m sad to see the ramp truck exit but I can totally understand the practicality of downsizing your fleet.
Hey it gives you a place in your heart for a new and better project. It's only oil, metal, paint, glass and rubber but at the of the day if I was to get a good offer I'd have to sell it find me another truck to work on.
I hope it goes to a good home that it will stay the way it is and be used not be destroyed wrecked or parted out. Ive watched the whole journey, shes an icon. Roadkill museum?
It’s always good to let go of projects every now and then. If the building is the passion part, then it’s time to move on to the next project, especially if it’s done and just taking up space.
Sad day but understandable. Can’t what to see what his new truck will be considering he is getting ride of two trucks
I have such great memories of the squarebody 3+3’s. Such a cool truck. Mike, it is a treat watching your adventures.
Dude you broke your foot and now from that injury you’re selling the OG truck? Your wife needs to have power of attorney for decision making until you fully heal! LOL
Haha, I bet if he gave her that then everything would be sold! 😂
Does this mean it the beginning of the end of ROADKILL all together ??? Please say no!!!! I enjoy those wild and crazy unscripted stories and episodes .. and the music of your people !! Pleas don’t stop ROADKILL !!!
Sad day Mike 😞
But good memories last forever 😃
I hope the new owners take good care of the ramp truck
When i was in i beileve 5th grade i was getting ready for school and found the episode of roadkill road tripping the crusher and the superbee i fell in love with roadkill couple months later my dad bought a 1967 cougar with a big block which we still have i have watched basically untill the 5th season every episode minimum of 10 times every other episode i have seen minimum of 5 times i turned 16 bought a subaru wrx with a blown motor i swapped a motor in with my dad and am absolutly obsesed with everything automotive at the age of 18 and its largely thanks to you guys and it all started with the superbee the crusher and this truck
Great to see the ramp truck outta the shed mate. It'll be fine, you did a great job on bringing it back to life. Very sad watch it go though 😢
I had a 1972 510 lemon yellow station wagon. The car gave me great memories,
Thanks for the wisdom
Will miss the ramp truck a lot of good memories with people
I think those ramp trucks made from old cab over truck look neat. Something like one from 1938 thru 1955 GMC. Cool retro look.
HI GOOD AFTERNOON SORRY TO SEE IT GO !!! THAT TRUCK BEEN EVERYWHERE !! I CAN NOT WAIT TO THE NEW TOY YOU GET . TODD FROM MICHIGAN .
I have always liked the ramp trucks too ! They remind me of the old school days when drag racers had them …even the big name racers had them!
It would be awesome to own Roadkill/Finnegan type vehicle but I know it’s out of my price range on retirement!
This ol girl is my favorite of the roadkill fleet. This and blasphemi really cemented my brother's dream to hemi swap his 85 c10. Unfortunately he passed away before he could do it. But i found a good parts truck that runs and everything is solid so hopefully by next year ill start the swap. We planned to make a series on youtube of it.
Thoroughly enjoyed your vlog about the Roadkill Ramp truck.
As sad as it is, I cant blame you. Excited for the next build!
Never thought I would see the Rampage Truck go, but it has served you faithfully.
On to the next!
Remember this truck from the get go, montage of videos brought allot of happy memories.
Like they say - been there, done that, what's next?
There are those that just want one brand, model or type of car every time. Then there are those of us that want to own or drive at least one of everything in our lives. Looking forward to what's next. Thanks for bringing us along with you.
The one thing you never did was a full 1/4 mile pass with its current setup. I appreciate the reasons for sale though that’s how you make new memories
So sorry to see the Ramp Truck go because it’s been such an interesting fixture for Roadkill and Finnegan’s Garage! But once you explained reasons, which you didn’t have too, it’s your stuff do as you will) I understand and agree. It is in such a good shape and someone will get a ton of use/ enjoyment out of it. And like you say, on to the next! Make it a good one, Rampage Truck bar is set pretty high!!
Nooooooooo😢
Fun hearing all the good memories. Totally see the need to off load it.
Won’t ever be the same not seeing Blasphemi or the C10 on the back of that rig. Iconic to say the least. And it’s a swaure body. Brings back that old time era before haulers ever came around 👌😎. Gonna miss that big beast 😔😢
One of my favorites. It will be missed , I wish I had seen the post .
I'm a big ramp truck fan 😊 nice piece of history on top of being very usable I don't know why I'm so sad 😢 perhaps because i can't have it😅☮️and carry on Roadkill Ramp truck🎉🎉 🎉🎉
Just did the same concept, sell multiple, buy one that does it all and it’s the best decision I’ve made. Way less hassle with registration, insurance etc. now I have my daily/tow rig and the drift car has gotten all the time and effort since the change.
Holy c*** man, you make me grin every time I watch. Your videos it was. I was born in raisin. So cow Huntington Beach was my place now. I live in New Mexico. The funny thing is I got all the sand all the sun but no water!
I think it's a great lesson on knowing when to move on from some "Things"! It was a great chapter that we all obviously enjoyed. I struggle with "Stuff" myself. Hold on to waaaaay too much of it. Good stuff, great ride.......I'll just sit back, relax and enjoy what's next!
Ive been thinking about it for about a year now. It wasn't an easy decision. The reason i got a warehouse was so I could save things but I really dont enjoy watching them just sit around.
Thanks for sharing.
Congrats to the winners and the new owner of the ramptruck !
Congrats to the winner and runner ups! I hope the new wiring is squirrel proof!
Can remember watching the episode on Roadkill when you got it, back when it was on CZcams. Unfortunately i can't watch anymore as we in Australia cannot get Motortrend unless we have a VPN network to watch it (so I believe anyway)
When you were on your way home from California to Georgia with the ramp truck, you stopped at a truck stop in Leeds AL. Me and my buddies were loaded up with our bagged minitrucks on a trailer going to a show. We were inside and had no idea you were there. You stopped and took pics of the trailer with my buddies toyota and posted it to your IG. We saw your post and we're like what!?!? We missed that!!!! Great memories. Hate to see the ramp truck go.
All I can say is lyrics in a song .
What a long strange trip it’s been.
💪🏻❤️
Great memories brother.
Sad to see the ramp truck go, but the new owner is going to have fun with it. New projects are always fun too.
Usually if the lock is up the metal rod will just reach the hole in the door but if not, you can use a junk lock knob with the top cut off, then swap it for the traditional style.
Congratulations to all the winners
